Therefore Black Noir and the other two had no choice but to bite the bullet and charge at Homelander.
The difference was that the other two went all-out, throwing everything they had at him.
Black Noir held back and just put on a show.
He basically took one step forward and two steps back, freeloading and stalling for time.
Only after Homelander grabbed the other two by the collars, hurled them into the night sky like shooting stars, and watched them crash down with broken legs before passing out did Black Noir hypocritically charge forward.
Homelander punched him flying.
Black Noir smashed backward into the wall at the edge of the arena right by the spectator stands.
It looked serious, and the hit really was heavy.
With Black Noir’s recovery ability he could have gotten right back up and kept fighting.
Instead he tilted his neck and straight-up pretended to pass out.
In less than a minute only Homelander and Dean Osborn were still standing.
“Homelander!
Homelander!
Homelander!!!” After Homelander showed the power to take down three champions in seconds, the cheers for him exploded even louder and sounded a lot more sincere.
Homelander felt a secret thrill race through him.
Fire burned in his chest.
He wanted even more voices screaming his name.
And right now there was only one way to get them.
His sharp gaze locked onto Dean Osborn.
A ferocious smile tore across his mouth.
“You should have gone up with them just now.
At least then you could have lasted a few more rounds.
Now that you’ve got no teammates left, you don’t even have a chance to show off!” Dean crossed his arms and tilted his head.
“Kid, you don’t really think you’re that strong, do you?” “I’ve seen plenty of giant babies like you who are only good at bullying the weak.
The second you hit a real hard rock you snap your soft little feet.” Homelander’s face twitched with pure rage.
“You sharp-tongued bastard.
Later I’m going to make it so you can’t even beg for mercy!” Boom—!
The second the words left his mouth Homelander took one massive stride.
The turf under his foot exploded into a crater.
His whole body shot forward like a cannonball straight at Dean.
“Now this is interesting!” Dean grinned and finally started taking things seriously.
The instant before Homelander slammed into him, Dean read the move, twisted his body, and slipped past the charge.
“And let me show you why I don’t like capes~” His hand shot out, grabbed the flag cape trailing behind Homelander, and yanked it hard downward.
Homelander, still flying, lost all balance the second the cape was yanked.
He slammed face-first into the ground and ate a huge mouthful of turf.
“Pui!” “I’m going to fucking tear you to pieces!” Homelander spat out the grass, eyes already glowing red with fury.
Before the lasers could fire, a massive foot filled his entire field of vision.
Boom—!
Dean drove a full soccer kick straight into Homelander’s face, completely interrupting the laser wind-up.
He sent Homelander flying like a football.
The blond supe only stopped after plowing a long, ugly trench across the turf.
Homelander pushed himself up with both hands, shook his head, and stood.
He looked dazed.
Especially when he stared at the blood dripping from his nose onto his palms.
A real flicker of fear finally showed in those blue eyes.
This was the first time anyone had ever managed to actually hurt him!
But wasn’t he supposed to be invincible?
That was what all those people at Vought had told him!
So what the hell was this now?
Invincible in the world, and the enemy just dropped out of the sky?
“Hey, baby-bottle boy, did I beat you stupid?
You wanna cry, or you wanna run home to mommy and suck some milk for comfort?” Looking at Homelander frozen in place, Dean could not stop himself from taunting.
Truth be told, Dean had never been the type who loved running his mouth that much.
At least not in his past life.
He was not sure if it was Soldier Boy’s genes talking in this one, but whenever he saw something he hated he just wanted to fight and trash-talk.
He never liked bottling that shit up inside.
Homelander snapped back at the sound of Dean’s voice and glared at him with pure fury.
“I am not a baby-bottle boy!
I am Homelander!!!” With an angry roar he thrust both hands forward and exploded forward at a speed even more terrifying than before, headbutting straight at Dean.
Just a moment ago he had still been holding back a little because this was supposed to be a friendly match.
Now, in pure rage, Homelander held nothing back.
He unleashed his full supersonic flight.
This time even Dean found it hard to react in time.
The Soldier Boy physique he inherited did not come with super reflexes.
Homelander slammed square into his chest.
Homelander locked one hand against Dean’s back—the part that had crashed into his shoulder—and pinned him hard against the turf, still driving forward while raising his other fist high to smash it into that handsome face that pissed him off just by existing.
Homelander and Dean were actually a lot alike.
Both had high flight speed, high strength, and high durability, but their pure physical movement speed was pretty average.
That went for both of them—fist speed and foot speed alike.
It was one of the built-in drawbacks of Vought’s Compound V.
The enhancements were never complete.
Unlike Superman, who was broken in every single category.
So even though Dean had not dodged the flying tackle, he still reached out and cleanly caught Homelander’s incoming punch.
In pure strength the two of them were dead even.
Homelander’s super strength was not suppressing him at all.
That finally made Homelander realize the earlier damage had not been a fluke.
Dean really did have this level of power.
Dean took advantage of the half-second Homelander was distracted and stomped hard into his chest, launching him straight up into the sky.
At the same time he finally stopped his own body from being dragged across the turf.
Dean climbed to his feet, looked up at Homelander hovering above, and casually flipped him the middle finger.
“Treating me like an ox plowing the lawn, kid?
You’ve got guts.
If I don’t beat you until you cry for your mommy today, I’ll take your last name!” The second the words left his mouth, dazzling purple electricity erupted across Dean’s body.
His entire form turned into a bolt of purple lightning and shot straight into the sky.
Homelander instinctively tried to dodge, but before he could even decide which way to move, Dean’s thunderous strike branded him square in the face.
The impact on his face launched Homelander even higher into the air.
Every spectator in the stadium involuntarily tilted their heads back and stared up at the night sky.
Vought immediately scrambled a helicopter for live aerial coverage.
Accidents could happen in the arena, but the broadcast could not stop.
If the audience lost the picture, Vought’s ratings money would take a direct hit.
The fight shifting from ground to air did not disappoint anyone.
The live crowd and the people watching the stream only got more hyped.
The stands roared even louder, like they were afraid the two guys flying high above might not hear them.
Online viewership numbers climbed at a ridiculous speed, rocketing the broadcast straight to the number-one live channel in the entire country.
