In this world, because of Vought, the number of supes was pretty high.
But flying supes were an extremely rare breed even among other supes.
A supe who could fly and was also ridiculously powerful was a one-in-a-million existence.
And today the crowd got to watch two of those powerful flying supes at the same time.
Two ridiculously strong flying supes about to put on a full battle showdown.
How the hell could anyone not be excited?
Homelander watched the helicopter spotlight lock onto him and felt both thrilled and pissed.
Thrilled because even more people would see him now.
Pissed because he had just fallen behind, and that was fucking humiliating.
That was the last thing Homelander wanted the world to see.
So he decided to get serious.
He stopped obsessing over a pure physical brawl with Dean and let crimson light flood his eyes.
Two laser beams that warped the air tore through space and blasted straight at Dean as he came flying in again.
Dean sneered.
His right arm snapped upward and purple electricity exploded from between his palms, slamming into Homelander’s lasers head-on.
Zizizizi—T!!!
The two massive energies collided in mid-air and produced a harsh screech like nails dragged across a blackboard.
Red sparks and purple lightning sprayed across the entire night sky above the stadium.
The clash of purple lightning against laser beams not only left the people inside the stadium stunned—it was bright enough that ordinary New Yorkers outside the stadium saw the whole shocking light show too.
On the left side of the beam struggle Homelander’s face was pure disbelief.
“How is this possible?
How the fuck can you be as strong as me?!” Even with both eyes glowing solid red, the panic on his face was impossible to hide.
He had never expected Dean to match him not only in raw physical power and flight, but even in pure energy output.
“As strong as you?” Dean smiled with pure dismissal.
“Diaper boy, I am way stronger than you.
Watch this.” As he spoke he slowly raised his other hand.
“I’ve still got another hand that can shoot electricity.
Do you, asshole, have another pair of eyes that can fire lasers?” “Or can your eyes split and attack separately the same way you piss?” Homelander immediately realized what was coming, but just like Dean said, there was nothing he could do to stop it.
His laser eyes were already his only real ranged attack.
Right now both beams were locked in a struggle against the lightning from Dean’s one hand.
He could not split them the way Dean mocked.
If he pulled them away he would just eat the lightning that was already in his face.
So Homelander could only watch helplessly as Dean raised that second hand and yanked it downward like he was pulling the chain on a desk lamp.
Boom—!
The sky itself seemed to short out for a split second, going dark for the briefest moment.
The next instant a towering bolt of purple lightning—thicker and more massive than anything that had come before—dropped straight from the sky and smashed into Homelander’s pretty blond slicked-back hair.
“Ugh ahhhhhhh~~~~~” Even someone as tough as Homelander could not stop the continuous miserable screams under the direct hit of a lightning bolt thicker than a full-grown man.
His screams even came out with a trembling pitch.
Because of the massive lightning strike, the laser beams from Homelander’s eyes were forcibly interrupted, freeing up Dean’s other hand.
One of Dean’s hands kept pouring lightning down onto Homelander while the purple electricity on his freed hand twisted and coiled together until it finally formed a massive purple lightning hammer.
The second the lightning on Homelander’s head finally faded, before the smoking, pain-wracked Homelander could even catch a breath, Dean was already dragging that giant lightning hammer and charging him again.
“Oh no no no no no!!!” Homelander spun around and tried to run.
“Want to escape?” Dean’s thunderous giant hammer was not something you just dodged.
“Taste my Mjolnir first!” With an excited shout Dean turned into a streak of purple lightning, appeared right above Homelander, and smashed the hammer down without a shred of mercy while Homelander stared up in pure terror.
Thud!
A deafening crash rang out.
Homelander instantly became a blurred blue streak and slammed violently into the stadium turf hard enough that the people in the stands felt the entire stadium shake.
In the center of the field Homelander had punched out a massive crater that looked like it had been hit by a missile.
Tears welled in Homelander’s eyes.
The spot on his back where the giant lightning hammer had struck was pure pain mixed with numbness.
Fear and raw grievance flooded his chest.
For a second it felt like he was back in that lonely laboratory, locked inside the iron box, enduring the researchers’ inhuman training and torment every single day.
“No… don’t use fire to burn me anymore, it hurts, it really hurts…” Young Homelander sounded as broken as a child and started babbling nonsense.
Unfortunately the only person who heard that broken voice was Dean.
Hearing it did not spark a single ounce of pity in Dean.
If anything the cowardice made him despise Homelander even more.
Looking exactly like Thor with purple lightning still crawling over his body, Dean slowly landed at the edge of the crater with pure disgust on his face.
“You are so fucking disappointing.
Soldier Boy should have fucked you against the wall back then!” The second the words left his mouth Dean felt something was off.
If Homelander got fucked against the wall by Soldier Boy, then as Homelander’s twin brother wouldn’t that mean he also got fucked against the wall?
“Please… please don’t hit me anymore…” Homelander was not listening to a single word Dean said.
He just kept begging blindly.
Hearing the plea for mercy coming from under his feet made Dean’s brow twitch hard.
The giant lightning hammer in his right hand vanished.
A gentle smile curved the corner of his mouth as he reached a hand down toward Homelander.
“Great, Dean, this is just a friendly match, there’s no need to take it so seriously, don’t you think…” Thinking Dean had finally decided to reconcile, Homelander wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes and reached out to take the offered hand while still trying to save some reputation.
Dean had zero interest in listening to that nonsense.
Reaching out was not an apology.
It was: bro, you still need more training.
“Bro, Big Bro will give you your first lesson today: a man must never beg for mercy in battle!” The instant he locked onto Homelander’s hand, Dean’s arm exploded with force.
He swung Homelander—who had zero idea a second round was coming—up like a ragdoll and slammed him hard onto the unbroken turf on the other side of the crater.
