19 – Treasure Hunt — Scene 1 – Morning Reunion Sunday morning.
For the first time in almost two weeks…
Dhruv was waiting outside House No.
7.
He wore a black T-shirt, dark blue joggers and white sneakers.
His hair was as messy as ever, and he had clearly forgotten to comb it.
Deep walked out of House No.
8 and stopped dramatically.
“…HE’S BACK.” Dhruv rolled his eyes.
“I was gone for ten days, not ten years.” Alya came out next, wearing a white hoodie over a blue T-shirt and black jeans.
She smiled.
“Welcome back.” “Thanks.” Finally…
Mitsuri stepped out.
She wore a light green kurti with white leggings.
Her long pink hair was tied into a loose ponytail, with a few strands framing her face.
She looked at Dhruv.
A genuine smile spread across her face.
“Good morning.” Dhruv smiled back.
“Morning, Mitsuu.” This time…
There was no awkwardness.
— Scene 2 – Deep’s ‘Brilliant’ Idea As they walked toward the society park…
Deep clapped his hands.
“Attention!” “I have created…” “The Sunrise Residency Treasure Hunt!” Dhruv blinked.
“…Why?” “Because Sundays are boring.” Alya folded her arms.
“And because you watched another mystery anime.” “…Maybe.” Deep pulled out four folded papers.
“Two teams.” Dhruv already knew what was coming.
Deep grinned.
“Dhruv and Mitsuri.” “Alya and me.” Alya sighed.
“You’re not subtle.” “I don’t need to be.” Dhruv laughed.
“You really planned this.” “Absolutely.” — Scene 3 – The First Clue Dhruv unfolded the paper.
> ‘Where children dream of sixes and wickets.’ “The cricket ground.” Mitsuri smiled.
“Let’s go.” They walked together.
This time…
There wasn’t an uncomfortable silence.
Instead…
They talked.
“Feeling completely better?” “Yeah.” “You?” “I’m good.” “I’m glad.” Simple.
Natural.
Exactly how it used to be.
— Scene 4 – Another Team Meanwhile…
Deep looked at his clue upside down.
Alya quietly turned it around.
“…Thanks.” “You’d never solve this.” “I was testing you.” “No.” “You weren’t.” — Scene 5 – Cricket Lessons At the cricket ground…
The next clue was taped behind the scoreboard.
But beside it…
Lay an old tennis ball.
Mitsuri picked it up.
She smiled.
“…Can you teach me?” “Right now?” “Just one shot.” Dhruv looked around.
The ground was empty.
“…Sure.” He picked up a plastic bat lying nearby.
“Hold it like this.” She copied him.
“No…” He stepped closer.
“Your grip is too tight.” Very carefully…
He adjusted her hands on the handle.
“There.” She looked at him.
“So like this?” “Yeah.” He stepped back.
“Ready?” She nodded.
Dhruv gently tossed the ball.
She swung.
Miss.
She laughed.
“I told you I’m terrible.” “You’ll get it.” Second attempt.
A small edge.
The ball rolled away.
“Progress.” Third attempt.
Tap.
The ball traveled a few metres.
Mitsuri’s eyes sparkled.
“I HIT IT!” Dhruv laughed.
“You did.” She raised the bat proudly.
“I am officially a cricketer.” “Let’s not get carried away.” Both laughed together.
— Scene 6 – The K-Drama Moment The next clue pointed toward the community garden.
They searched around flower pots.
Benches.
Trees.
Nothing.
Mitsuri looked up.
“I think it’s…” She stepped onto a small stone.
It wobbled.
She lost her balance.
“Dhr—” Before she could fall…
Dhruv caught her by the wrist.
She stumbled forward slightly.
For one brief second…
She was standing only a few inches away.
The breeze gently moved her pink hair.
Neither of them spoke.
Their eyes met.
“…” “…” Deep’s voice suddenly echoed from the opposite side of the garden.
“I FOUND THE THIRD CLUE!” Both immediately stepped apart.
Dhruv scratched the back of his neck.
“…You okay?” Mitsuri nodded quickly.
“Y-Yeah.” Her cheeks were noticeably pink.
— Scene 7 – Deep’s Victory…
Sort Of All four met near the clubhouse.
Deep proudly held up the final clue.
“I won.” Alya looked at Dhruv.
“You let him, didn’t you?” Dhruv smiled.
“…Maybe.” Deep pointed dramatically toward the sky.
“I, Deep Sharma…” “…am the greatest detective in Sunrise Residency.” A little kid walked past.
“My sister found it for him.” Everyone burst into laughter.
Deep looked betrayed.
“…Traitor.” — Scene 8 – Best Friends The afternoon slowly turned into evening.
The four sat on the swings inside the society park, eating ice cream.
No one spoke for a while.
Then Mitsuri quietly looked at Dhruv.
“You know…” He looked at her.
“Hm?” “When I transferred here…” “I was really nervous.” “I thought making friends would be difficult.” She smiled warmly.
“But now…” “I don’t feel lonely anymore.” She looked directly at him.
“I’m really happy…” “…that we’re best friends.” Dhruv looked at her for a moment.
Then smiled.
“…Me too, Mitsuu.” There wasn’t a confession.
There wasn’t a dramatic hug.
Just two friends…
Finally saying something they had both already felt.
Deep looked toward Alya and whispered, “Mission Pink Hair…” “…Phase Two.” Alya smiled proudly.
“…Completed.” The evening breeze carried their laughter across Sunrise Residency.
None of them realized it yet…
But what had started as a simple friendship…
Had quietly become something much harder to lose.
