5 – Rain After School — Scene 1 – Grey Skies The first period had just ended.
Dark clouds slowly covered the bright June sky.
Students standing near the windows looked outside.
“I think it’ll rain.” “It hasn’t rained properly yet this season.” Kabir stretched.
“I forgot my umbrella.” Rohan looked at him.
“You say that every year.” “Because every year I forget.” The classroom laughed.
Mitsuri quietly watched the clouds.
“I like rainy days…” She whispered to herself.
— Scene 2 – A Small Habit During English class…
The teacher asked everyone to write a short paragraph.
After ten minutes…
She walked around checking notebooks.
When she reached Dhruv…
She smiled.
“Neat handwriting.” He smiled politely.
“Thank you, ma’am.” She moved to Mitsuri.
“Very good.” “I like how expressive your writing is.” Mitsuri smiled.
“I enjoy writing.” Dhruv accidentally overheard.
“You write stories?” She looked at him.
“…Not exactly.” “I keep a journal.” “A journal?” She nodded.
“I write about every important day.” Dhruv smiled.
“That’s a nice habit.” The teacher clapped once.
“No more talking.” Both immediately returned to work.
— Scene 3 – Cricket Practice School ended.
Most students rushed toward the buses.
Dhruv walked to the cricket ground.
The Cricket Club captain tossed him a ball.
“Warm-up.” Dhruv nodded.
Practice began.
Fielding.
Bowling.
Batting.
An hour passed quickly.
The captain folded his arms.
“You’ve got discipline.” Dhruv wiped the sweat from his forehead.
“I’m still inconsistent.” “Good.” Dhruv looked confused.
The captain smiled.
“Students who think they’ve mastered everything stop improving.” — Scene 4 – Suddenly…
Rain The first raindrop landed on the practice pitch.
Then another.
Within seconds…
Heavy rain poured over the school.
Students screamed while running toward the corridors.
Deep rushed from the junior wing.
“I’m soaked!” Alya looked at him.
“You literally ran into the rain.” “I underestimated clouds.” “You underestimated common sense.” Nearby…
Mitsuri stood under the school entrance.
She hadn’t brought an umbrella.
Dhruv walked over carrying his cricket kit.
“You don’t have one?” She shook her head.
“I checked the weather yesterday.” “It betrayed me.” Dhruv laughed.
“The weather does that.” — Scene 5 – Waiting The rain became even heavier.
Nobody could leave.
Students gathered near the entrance.
Some played games.
Others bought samosas and tea from the canteen.
Deep appeared carrying four paper cups.
“I sacrificed my dignity.” Alya accepted one.
“What happened?” “I stood in a queue for fifteen minutes.” Dhruv took another.
“Thank you.” Deep looked at Mitsuri.
“You too.” She smiled.
“Thanks.” The five stood together watching the rain.
It was strangely peaceful.
— Scene 6 – One Umbrella After nearly forty minutes…
The rain became lighter.
Students slowly began leaving.
Deep opened his umbrella.
“Come on, Alya.” She nodded.
“See you tomorrow.” They waved and left.
Dhruv looked outside.
“I’ve only got one umbrella.” Mitsuri looked at the road.
“So do I wait?” “You live in Sunrise Residency.” She looked at him.
“…You don’t mind?” He shook his head.
“We’re going the same way.” She smiled.
“Thank you.” — Scene 7 – The Walk Home Both quietly walked beneath the umbrella.
The rain fell softly around them.
Cars passed.
Children happily splashed through puddles.
Neither spoke for a minute.
Finally…
Mitsuri smiled.
“You don’t talk much.” Dhruv laughed.
“I’ve heard that before.” “Were you always like this?” “Not really.” “What changed?” He thought for a moment.
“I started focusing more on what I wanted.” “And what do you want?” He looked ahead.
“To become successful.” “To make Urvi proud.” “And…” He smiled.
“To stay first in class.” Mitsuri giggled.
“So second place still bothers you.” “A little.” — Scene 8 – A Small Moment As they crossed a narrow lane…
A speeding bike rushed through a puddle.
Dhruv immediately stepped closer to Mitsuri.
Splash!
Water hit his blazer instead of hers.
The bike disappeared.
Mitsuri blinked.
“…Your uniform.” Dhruv looked down.
“…Well.” “It needed washing anyway.” She couldn’t stop laughing.
He smiled.
Seeing her laugh…
He laughed too.
— Scene 9 – Sunrise Residency They reached the society gate.
Deep noticed them from the park.
His eyes became huge.
He quickly nudged Alya.
“They came together.” Alya looked.
“…It’s raining.” “I know.” “It’s romantic.” “It’s practical.” “It’s both.” Alya sighed.
“You’re impossible.” Urvi stepped out of House No.
7 holding an umbrella.
She looked at Dhruv.
“You’re drenched.” “He protected me.” Mitsuri said without thinking.
Everyone became quiet.
Mitsuri immediately realized what she had said.
“I-I mean…” “The puddle…” Urvi looked at Dhruv.
Then smiled knowingly.
“I see.” Dhruv sighed.
“Di…” — Scene 10 – Two Different Nights Dhruv changed into comfortable clothes.
He looked at his wet blazer hanging near the balcony.
“…Worth it.” He opened his physics book.
Then…
His phone vibrated.
New anime episode released.
He stared at it.
“…” Five seconds.
Ten seconds.
He locked the phone.
“Later.” He opened his book again.
— Meanwhile…
In House No.
11…
Mitsuri sat by her window.
Rain tapped gently against the glass.
She opened her journal.
> June 12 Today was the first rain after I joined Devison.
We walked home under one umbrella.
Dhruv talks very little…
but every sentence feels honest.
A bike splashed water.
He stepped in front of me without even thinking.
His blazer got soaked.
When I apologized…
He just smiled.
I don’t know why…
But today is a day I don’t want to forget.
She carefully placed a tiny blue raindrop sticker beside the page.
Then closed the journal with a gentle smile.
Outside, the rain continued to fall over Sunrise Residency, quietly preserving another memory.
