Huo Siyu lay down with a dark, gloomy expression, looking at the matriarch, “Please go back now!”

The old lady sat straight down on the foot-of-the-bed bench, looking stubborn. “I’m not leaving. Such a good granddaughter-in-law—what if she turns into a cold corpse by tomorrow morning? Unless you kiss her right in front of me, I won’t budge until you do.”

Having lived through a lot, the old lady figured that once he kissed her and tasted the sweetness, the brat wouldn’t have the heart to kill her anymore. The next second, Huo Siyu’s tightly veined, powerful hand suddenly reached out toward Rong Tangtang, grabbed her palm-sized, warm, round face, and pulled her in for a forceful kiss.

Tangtang’s eyes widened in shock; she stopped breathing entirely.

This was also Huo Siyu’s first time kissing someone. The young woman’s breath carried a faint, pleasant scent of traditional Chinese medicine. Although he had been immensely impatient just moments before, he suddenly felt as if he had been soothed.

He even found himself wanting more. The young lady was truly soft…

Time seemed to stand still in that instant, and she saw forbearance and restraint in Huo Siyu’s eyes right before her. Inside, she screamed pathetically: I’ve been kissed! Just like that! My first kiss! Given to such a hot-headed psycho! Who can I even reason with?

Abruptly, he pulled away, looked at the matriarch, and asked, “Are you satisfied now?”

The matriarch let out a satisfied cackle and turned to leave, muttering under her breath, “If anyone dares to touch my granddaughter-in-law, I won’t live either. I’ll go straight up to the netherworld to find Jin hua! I mean what I say!”

As soon as the old lady stepped outside, she locked the door from the outside. “Someone will come to open it for you tomorrow morning. Grandma wishes you an early son.”

Finally, it was quiet.

Rong Tangtang grabbed a pillow and placed it as a barrier between the two of them, keeping a strict “waters of the well do not intrude on the waters of the river” distance. Then she turned her back to Huo Siyu, closed her eyes quietly, and prepared to sleep—she was genuinely exhausted.

“Get down!” Huo Siyu suddenly sat up, his gaze looking as if it could slice her into pieces right on the spot. He suddenly grew frantic, breathing heavily, with bloodshot veins visible in his eyes.

Frightened, Tangtang immediately got up, obediently moving over to a nearby leather sofa, throwing a random blanket over herself, and closing her eyes to ignore the madman.

Speechless, she thought. Did I do anything to provoke him? No, nothing at all! He just suddenly blew up—what a volatile psycho! Let him go crazy by himself. I am dead tired; after losing so much blood today, I need to hurry up and sleep to recover.

It took a long time and a nameless wave of internal heat before Huo Siyu finally managed to fall asleep.

Late into the night, there was a sudden thump.

With his high level of alertness, Huo Siyu instantly pulled the gun from under his pillow and sat up sharply. Only then did he realize that the sound had come from Rong Tangtang falling off the sofa, her forehead hitting the carpet with a muffled thud.

She was still half-asleep and didn’t fully wake up; her small face was scrunched up in discomfort as her limbs fumbled around to crawl back onto the sofa, where she curled into a comfortable position and went right back to sleep.

Huo Siyu stared at her, slowly lowering his gun.

The corners of his lips twitched, flashing an almost imperceptible, hidden smile.

The young woman’s waistline was supple, and the neckline of her red silk nightgown had slipped open halfway, revealing her fair, snow-white, voluptuous curves. He unexpectedly felt a sudden, intensely strange wave of heat stirring within him.

He got up and took a cold shower in the bathroom.

Damn it!

The next morning, Rong Tangtang was jolted awake by a burst of shrill screams.

“Ah!”

Tangtang sat up and saw a trendy-looking young woman standing right beside her and Huo Siyu’s bridal bed, holding up a piece of white silk embroidered with mandarin ducks.

“Rong Tangtang, you weren’t even a virgin, yet you dared to marry into the Grand Marshal’s mansion. You’ve truly ruined our Huo family’s reputation! A used-up commodity played with abroad—how utterly filthy!”

Just waking up, Tangtang was still dazed, but the fighting spirit against bullies was deeply ingrained in her bones. She casually grabbed a pillow and hurled it directly at the young woman. The movement was smooth, swift, and accurate.

“What kind of ghost are you? How did you even get into my room?”

The young woman was Huo Jing, Huo Siyu’s half-sister and the biological daughter of Grand Marshal’s wife, Shen Yaoyu.

“Ah!” Shen Yaoyu took the hit and stumbled, almost crashing into the wall. Fortunately, the two older maids she had brought with her caught her. They were Shen Yaoyu’s people, and coming here today was meant to vent their anger on her behalf. Because Shen Yaoyu had had her hand chopped off in public by Rong Tangtang, Huo Jing wanted to exact revenge for her mother.

“How dare you hit me!” Huo Jing was furious, her fox-like eyes welling up with tears as she held up the wedding sheet for Tangtang to see. “Even though the former dynasty is gone, our Huo family has been a noble household since our ancestors’ time. The rules left by our ancestors must be followed: a woman marrying into the Huo family must leave proof of her virginity on the wedding sheet on the first night before she can sign the marriage certificate and become an official daughter-in-law of the Huo family.

“Clearly, you don’t have it! You aren’t pure; you’re a loose, filthy woman! You aren’t worthy of being the Young Marshal’s wife, and you have no right to sign the marriage certificate to become part of the Huo family. My brother left early this morning—he never intended to sign with you anyway. You’re so filthy! A used-up piece of trash that my brother will never want!”

Huo Jing ranted in a frantic outburst.

“Whether I’m pure or not is none of your business to check. Who do you think you are?”

Rong Tangtang appeared completely unfazed, suddenly letting out a cold laugh as she raised an eyebrow—
