Perhaps they wouldn’t even complete their quest before freezing to death.

Next, they not only had to search for potions but also find a shelter.

A companion had discovered that just recently, tens of thousands of zombies inexplicably attacked the base, seemingly searching for something.

Thinking of this, the woman pondered deeply, wondering how that little merman was doing.

Perhaps he had already…

The Base.

In the harsh, frigid weather, the sound of battle raged, gunfire deafening.

The zombies moved like mindless husks, driven only by their primal instinct to attack, unafraid of the cold and death.

As time passed, the battle grew fiercer.

The sound of human gunfire and zombie roars blended into chaos.

“Oh my…”

A boy, wearing only a black cotton coat paired with a white scarf, struggled to sneak away from beneath the high-voltage fence destroyed by zombies.

“I can’t stay here any longer, they’re terrifying.”

He walked far without anyone noticing.

The cold wind cut like a knife, slicing across the boy’s exposed cheeks, piercing to the bone.

The temperature was so low that a thin layer of snow covered the buildings.

Su Luo exhaled warm breath, rubbing his lower lip with his palm for warmth.

The cotton coat only reached the boy’s calves, and his skin, smooth as jade, couldn’t withstand the cold’s assault.

He wore only ordinary slippers, which sank into the fluffy snow as he walked.

They provided no warmth, and the boy’s toes turned red from the cold, frost forming on his eyelashes.

He thought of An Lan, who would surely come looking for him again after dealing with the zombies, and decided to run away.

“Who knew the sisters could be so terrifying…”

The boy’s skin, likely never seeing sunlight, was so delicate and pale it had a sickly beauty.

Even with blue hair covering most of his face, the sharp white chin and body curves hinted at the boy’s stunning appearance.

He crouched low.

Cautiously, he moved through the desolate streets.

Passing a looted supermarket, there was no one around.

Su Luo, scared, desperately wanted to find his companions.

He didn’t notice the faint fragrance emanating from him, like a freshly baked pastry in the murky environment, tempting.

“Thud!”

The boy tripped and fell into the snow.

“Ouch,” he whispered, quickly covering his mouth, glancing around, and patting his chest. “Phew, no one heard.”

He turned to see what he had tripped over, but the snow covered it.

Su Luo brushed it aside and saw black pants.

It might be a corpse; he didn’t dare touch it, using a twig to poke gently.

No response.

He poked again, “It should be dead.”

The boy stood up to leave, but suddenly his ankle was grabbed by cold fingers.

Fear spread across his skin, and Su Luo’s red ankle turned pale.

Looking down, he saw a long, blood-stained man’s hand.

A zombie?

Without thinking, the boy kicked hard, hearing a muffled groan, painful and weak.

“Okay, it’s a living person.”

Su Luo awkwardly pursed his pink lips, apologizing sheepishly.

“Sorry…”

Then, he brushed away the snow, uncovering the man.

The man’s black hair fell over his forehead.

His eyes were closed, nose high, lips pale from blood loss, with an aggressive look.

It was the injured and unconscious Chu Weilin.

How rare, even a villain had such a day.

Could someone so powerful fall to this state? If not for being discovered, he’d be doomed.

Remembering the man’s past misdeeds…

How infuriating!

Su Luo angrily turned to leave, not wanting to deal with Chu Weilin.

A few minutes later, the boy was lost.

The chaotic streets all looked the same, and he couldn’t tell directions.

After circling back a second time, he sighed softly.

Chu Weilin’s black coat was still stained with dried blood, his tall frame heavy as lead.

Su Luo, exhausted and panting, finally dragged the man to a spot sheltered from the wind and snow.

He dumped him unceremoniously on the ground.

The boy crouched to check his injuries, finding a wound just inches from the heart.

Chu Weilin’s breathing was so shallow it was almost nonexistent; without the rise and fall of his chest, one might think he was dead.

The boy found bandages and alcohol in a nearby supermarket.

He performed a simple disinfection.

The man’s well-toned abs and V-line weren’t overly exaggerated, just right.

Su Luo turned his head, unwilling to look, “Hmph!”

He wrapped the bandage around, muttering unpleasant words, with a limited vocabulary, repeating a few phrases over and over.

Until he met the eyes of the awakened Chu Weilin.

The man’s gaze was sharp, an impenetrable pressure enveloping the boy, making it hard to breathe.

Su Luo swallowed the “big idiot” he was about to say.

The man’s expression was still somewhat haggard.

He scrutinized the boy’s legs and face, speaking with certainty.

“You’re that merman?”

Su Luo pulled his scarf up to cover his mouth, waving his hand in denial.

“No, I’m not.”

“…”

Chu Weilin propped himself up against the wall, raising an eyebrow, his gaze probing.

Su Luo couldn’t stand the strange atmosphere and was about to leave.

A forceful grip pulled him into a warm embrace.

The boy tried to struggle.

Chu Weilin winced, and the bandaged wound began to bleed again.

The man’s voice was low and hoarse, “You saved me, and now you want to kill me?”

Su Luo paused for a few seconds, realizing he had accidentally elbowed the man’s wound.

“I didn’t mean to…”

Chu Weilin took a deep breath, his cold eyes mixed with weakness and fatigue.

“I’m so thirsty, I want water.”

The boy intended to leave, but the man looked so pitiful, his dark eyes gazing at him expectantly.

Su Luo, oblivious, didn’t notice the hidden madness in those deep eyes.

“Help me, please, little one.”

“I’ll check the supermarket nearby.”

The man’s emotions were so intense, they almost drowned the boy.

Chu Weilin’s deliberately lowered voice was full of temptation.

“No.”

Su Luo furrowed his pretty brows.

“Are you crazy? You say you’re thirsty, I offer to get water, and you refuse. Let go, I’m leaving.”

He had no time to deal with this big fool.

The boy’s small mouth kept chattering, the man’s warm fingertip pressed against his lips.

“Shh, zombies are coming.”

Su Luo fell silent instantly, clenching his fingers tightly, a wave of fear rising within him.

His heartbeat echoed loudly in the quiet space…
