11 – Husband’s Name
Noticing Mu Mian gazing at the dessert of the girl across from them and knowing she must want some, Ye Jingchuan stood up and walked over to ask, “Excuse me, where did you buy this?”
“It’s from the shop up ahead—the one with the long queue,” the passerby kindly pointed in the direction.
“Thank you.”
Ye Jingchuan returned to Mu Mian and said, “I’ll go buy it for you. Wait here for me.”
With that, he strode off.
The maid had been searching for Mu Mian throughout the mall. Just after Ye Jingchuan left, the maid spotted Mu Mian.
She hurried over and grabbed Mu Mian’s arm. “Madam, I finally found you! You scared me to death!”
Completely unaware of what was happening, Mu Mian blinked her large eyes innocently. “What’s wrong?”
“Madam, let’s go now!”
The maid pulled Mu Mian away.
Before leaving, Mu Mian didn’t forget to take her milk tea with her.
When they reached the mall’s parking lot, the maid prepared to take Mu Mian back.
Sensing a familiar presence, Mu Mian suddenly stopped walking, sniffed the air intently, and her eyes instantly lit up.
Not understanding why Mu Mian had stopped, the maid urged, “Madam, let’s hurry back.”
“It’s my husband!”
“There’s no way the master would…” come here now.
Before the maid could finish her sentence, a luxury car pulled up in front of them. The door opened, and Fu Chenxiu stepped out.
“Husband, why are you here?” Mu Mian immediately rushed over excitedly.
Fu Chenxiu frowned at the innocent and carefree girl. “Why didn’t you answer your phone?”
“Huh?”
Mu Mian blinked. “I didn’t hear your call.”
She took her phone from her bag and turned on the screen, which indeed showed missed calls from Fu Chenxiu.
Rabbit tilted her head in confusion. “Husband really did call. But why didn’t I hear it?”
Fu Chenxiu noticed that Mu Mian’s phone was on silent mode, probably accidentally activated.
He took her phone with his large hand and turned off the silent mode.
“Don’t turn this off in the future, or I won’t be able to reach you.”
“Oh…” Mu Mian obediently agreed.
“Get in the car.”
With that, Fu Chenxiu turned and walked toward the car.
Mu Mian followed him into the vehicle.
Meanwhile, after buying the pastry, Ye Jingchuan returned to their seats only to find Mu Mian gone.
Thinking she might have gone to the restroom, he waited for a while but still saw no sign of her.
He realized she must have left.
Ye Jingchuan glanced at the freshly made egg waffle in his hand—something he had queued for quite a while to get—and curled his lips in a self-mocking smile.
He must be under some kind of spell.
Why was he so concerned about a married woman?
Although… she didn’t even know her husband’s name. Did she really have a husband?
On the way back, Fu Chenxiu glanced at the rabbit beside him, who was happily drinking her milk tea as if nothing had happened, and thought he must be crazy.
He had actually abandoned an important meeting to drive here and find her.
“Oh, husband!” Mu Mian suddenly remembered something, releasing the straw from her mouth and turning to Fu Chenxiu with a serious expression. “Husband, what’s your name?”
Fu Chenxiu: “…”
So this rabbit still didn’t know his name.
Although he had never volunteered the information, he thought she would have at least asked Fu Yifei or Shi Hai.
“Only now you think to ask my name?”To her… was his name not important?
Indeed, if the legends were true, she was only seeking the Fu family member born with seven moles every century – and that person happened to be him…
What kind of person he was didn’t matter to her.
Thinking this, he felt an indescribable tightness in his chest.
Rabbits are sensitive creatures, and Mu Mian naturally sensed her husband’s low spirits, her two ears drooping guiltily.
Fu Chenxiu noticed the guilty rabbit from the corner of his eye and spoke in a deep voice: “Fu Chenxiu.”
“Ah?” Mu Mian was too preoccupied with her guilt to react immediately.
Fu Chenxiu pressed his lips together and repeated: “Fu Chenxiu, my name.”
“Fu Chenxiu…” Mu Mian repeated after him like an obedient child: “I’ll remember it well!”
On the way back, Mu Mian kept murmuring to herself.
“Fu Chenxiu… Fu Chenxiu… Chenxiu…”
The car stopped at the villa entrance. “You go in first.”
Hearing he wasn’t coming back with her, Mu Mian turned to look at him and couldn’t help asking: “Aren’t you coming home with me, husband?”
“I need to go back to the company.”
“Oh…”
“Don’t wait for me at the door.” Remembering how she had waited in the yard for him yesterday, Fu Chenxiu instructed before she got out of the car.
Mu Mian nodded obediently: “I understand.”
Only after watching Mu Mian enter the villa did Fu Chenxiu drive away.
Seeing Fu Chenxiu return, Shi Hai immediately approached: “Sir, did you find Madam?”
Fu Chenxiu gave an affirmative “Hmm,” then thought of something and ordered: “Have someone deliver what she needs directly to the house.”
She knew nothing about the modern world – letting her go shopping had been a mistake.
“And the maid who took her out today – make sure she doesn’t appear again.”
After coldly delivering these words, he strode toward the conference room.
In the conference room, the executives waiting for the meeting were whispering among themselves.
“Didn’t President Fu suddenly cancel the meeting? Why is he suddenly holding it now?”
“What’s been going on with President Fu lately? These sudden changes don’t seem like his style.”
“So I’m not the only one who thinks President Fu has been acting strange recently.”
Just then, a tall, imposing black figure pushed the door open and entered.
The conference room instantly fell silent.
Fu Chenxiu took his seat at the head of the table and glanced at the time – it was already 2:30.
He had promised her yesterday that he would return by six o’clock.
It took half an hour to get from Fu Corporation to the villa.
“You have exactly three hours for this meeting.”
Executives: “!!!!”
Shi Hai checked the time and seemed to understand something.
Not long after Mu Mian returned to her bedroom to rest, servants delivered the latest seasonal clothing, bags, shoes, and accessories to her room. All were luxury brands, instantly filling the wardrobe to bursting with an dazzling array of everything one could want – enough to make any girl envious.
Even Xiao Qiu couldn’t help exclaiming: “Master, you have so many beautiful new clothes! Xiao Qiu is jealous! Master, you should change into new clothes quickly! Your current clothes are starting to smell!”
Mu Mian sniffed her current outfit, which she had worn for several consecutive days, and realized there was indeed some odor. She chose a white court-style dress to wear, the pristine dress further accentuating Rabbit’s pure and flawless appearance.
