Inside the Rolls-Royce…

Jay sat by the window with her arms tightly folded.

She refused to look at Keifer.Full novel: The Devil’s Contact Wife(jayfer) — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The silence lasted for almost ten minutes.

Keifer glanced at her.

“Jay.”

No answer.

“Mrs.

Watson.”

Nothing.

He sighed.

“…Are you ignoring me?”

She answered without turning around.

“I’m too angry to speak.”

Felix, sitting in the front passenger seat, whispered to the driver,

“Silent treatment.”

The driver nodded sympathetically.

“Poor Sir.”

Five minutes later…

Keifer noticed Jay secretly wiping the corner of her eye.

She wasn’t crying loudly…

She was simply disappointed.

“I just wanted to go to college…”

She muttered.

“I miss my friends.”

“I miss my classes.”

“And you didn’t even listen to me.”

Her voice became quieter.

“You just carried me away.”

For the first time…

Keifer realized she wasn’t being stubborn.

She genuinely missed her normal life.

He looked out the window.

“Stop the car.”

The driver immediately pulled over.

Jay frowned.

“What now?”

Without answering, Keifer got out.

Felix looked confused.

“…Sir?”

“I’ll be back.”

A few minutes later…

Keifer returned carrying two chocolate ice creams.

He opened the car door.

Without saying anything…

He handed one to Jay.

She blinked.

“…For me?”

“You like chocolate.”

She slowly accepted it.

“…How did you know?”

“You always choose chocolate desserts.”

“I noticed.”

Jay looked at the ice cream, then at him.

The corners of her lips lifted.

“Are you…

trying to make me happy?”

“No.”

Felix coughed to hide a laugh.

“I’m preventing another argument.”

Jay smiled.

“Mhm.”

She took a bite.

“It’s good.”

“I’m glad.”

The atmosphere in the car finally became lighter.

After a few moments…

Keifer spoke.

“You can go to college.”

Jay stopped eating.

“…Really?”

“Yes.”

Her eyes widened.

“Wait…”

“…Seriously?”

He nodded once.

“But.”

She knew there would be one.

“You’ll have security.”

“You’ll attend your classes.”

“No wandering around the city.”

“If you’re staying late…”

“You call me.”

“And if I say come home…”

“You come home.”

Jay couldn’t stop smiling.

“I agree!”

Felix almost dropped his tablet.

“That was easier than expected…”

Jay excitedly grabbed Keifer’s arm.

“Thank you!”

She was so happy that, without thinking…

She leaned over and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.

A soft…

Gentle peck.

She froze.

“…”

Keifer froze too.

The entire car became silent.

Felix slowly looked out the window.

The driver suddenly found the steering wheel incredibly fascinating.

Jay’s face turned bright red.

“I…”

“…That was…”

“…Thank you.”

She quickly looked away, embarrassed.

Keifer remained completely still.

His hand unconsciously touched the spot on his cheek where she had kissed him.

For the first time in years…

The ruthless Devil of Manila didn’t know what to say.

A faint smile—small, genuine, and impossible to hide—appeared on his face.

Felix caught it in the rearview mirror.

He smiled to himself.

“One little kiss…”

“…and the Devil forgot how to speak.”
