Lightning surrounded the entire field, with a bit of voltage even reaching the spectator stands.
Arashi, who had arrived, looked at Mirio in the eyes with an excited expression.
“Togata!
Don’t you hold back on me now!” He yelled, before kicking the ground and shooting forward, his fist aimed at Mirio’s face.
____________________ Shizuka Arashi, since his quirk had awakened, was always a violent, reckless child who had dreamt of battle.
He had a sharp, beast-like combat instinct and a quirk that fit him like a glove, with his cyan, spiky hair and narrow, golden fox eyes.
Arashi had never tasted defeat throughout his entire life, and this would’ve been the case for his first year in the original timeline as well, with him becoming bored of heroism and dropping out of U.A after his first year would’ve ended.
And yet..
He didn’t in this timeline.
Not because he was bored, but because his blood was boiling.
Shizuka Arashi, ever since his first ever fight in the dojo that he trained in, had tasted the bitterness of defeat…
And found it addicting.
He loved the rush of combat, he loved the way his blood boiled, the way his heart pumped even faster, adrenaline always kicking in at high stake, high reward matches.
Arashi had a friend, a rival who had matched him ever since they were children, and yet she had given up on the path of combat thanks to her misogynistic families views.
Arashi had tried to convince her to come back, tried to even have a quirk marriage assigned with her to have a taste of those fists that knocked him bloody every day, and yet..
Every attempt failed.
Her family was too rigid in its traditions to bow down to his desires.
So, Arashi wanted to become a hero.
Not to save people, no..
But to find new people to fight.
Since quirk battles between heroes and villains were much more destructive than usual, Arashi figured that the true threat of death itself would have him figure out how to become even better at combat.
He wanted experience.
He wanted combat, and he wanted death itself to graze him, before he completely trampled on its face.
And Mirio Togata was exactly what Arashi had been looking for.
He had underestimated the boy, thinking the drawback of his Quirk would’ve had Arashi defeating him in less than 5 seconds…and yet, the opposite had happened.
Shizuka Arashi, the unbeatable combat addict, was beaten in under 5 minutes no less.
His obsession with training increased, as Arashi poured over every single footage of his classmates combat styles.
Their quirks, their weaknesses, and their mindset.
Mirio was excellent, yes, but Arashi had truly found a gem amongst everybody.
Midoriya Sukuna was the perfect opponent, the ideal person that he longed for.
So Arashi had studied him ruthlessly.
Looking at his efficiency with his control, the way his Quirk bent to his will…
Arashi wanted that level of control as well.
So before the Sports Festival began, Arashi went ahead and asked his homeroom teacher for help.
It wasn’t embarrassing to ask for help, since he was going to go up against The Strongest.
Vlad King had helped him develop a method that enhanced every single neuron in his body, by spreading his lightning around them carefully.
This enhanced his speed, agility and reflexes to an absurd degree.
His sight was even enhanced by this, although the effect was minor compared to the rest of his body.
‘With this, I can beat Sukuna.’ Arashi thought back then, but he had been wrong.
He had been so wrong.
Because ever since he had seen Mirio Togata…Arashi’s blood couldn’t stop boiling.
‘Forgive me for this, Sukuna.
But I’ll have to go out against someone else.’ Arashi thought, rushing at Mirio, as he fired off a lightning discharge at point blank.
Mirio, predictably, phased through the attack, his fist already grazing Arashi’s cheek, but Arashi made no move to dodge.
He leaned in, his bloodthirsty grin surprising Mirio, as he put his palm on the boys chest.
“Immolate.” was what Arashi stated, and Mirio’s eyes widened.
He instantly activated permeation, phasing through Arashi himself, as he stopped using his Quirk, breathing heavily and looking behind him.
Arashi had blasted the ground that Mirio had been standing on, creating a crater so deep that it would’ve no doubt killed him had he not dodged it.
Mirio’s eyes widened even further, as a smile began to creep up on his face.
“You’re not easy pickings anymore, are you?” He asked, his gaze shifting to Arashi.
Arashi, smiling as well, just replied.
“Hurry up and die for me, will ya?
I need to fight someone else.” His eyes briefly moved to where Sukuna was standing, before they settled back on Mirio.
“I’ll show you how grateful I am..
For the lesson you taught me in our joint training session.” His fists clenched, and he blurred.
Mirio’s instincts screamed at him, and he instantly jumped to the side, dodging another lightning blast that tore apart the ground beneath him.
Mirio’s eyes narrowed, as he focused on his surroundings.
Arashi was leaving multiple afterimages, trying to trick Mirio into picking the wrong one..
“Gotcha~” Mirio smirked, his palm catching Arashi’s, as Arashi simply replied.
“Oops~” before he started blasting again.
Mirio phased through the blast, using the illumination of the blast itself to phase inside of the earth, as he launched himself at Arashi and punched.
Arashi, who looked to be off guard, leaned his head back, getting punched on his chest rather than his face.
“Do you really think the same trick works twice in a row?” He asked, smirking at Mirio, not bothered by the pain at all.
“Besides, you should watch where you’re punching.” Mirio, who couldn’t activate permeation, felt his hand heat up.
He jumped back, grabbing his smoking fist, as he grit his teeth in pain.
‘He’s using my own weakness against me..’ He thought, his eyes flashing towards Tamaki.
“Change of plans!
Hado, I need your help!
Tamaki can handle himself for 5 minutes without our help!” He yelled, as he ducked beneath another blast, activating Permeation and swimming through the ground itself, his eyes locked on Arashi’s position.
Nejire, who had been called, arrived in a flash, her hand pointed at Arashi.
A spiral shockwave shot out of her palm, colliding with the lightning blast that Arashi sent her way.
Mirio, who was still rushing at Arashi, sped up suddenly.
The increase in speed caught Arashi off guard, his palm, which was pointed at Nejire and had charged up another lightning discharge, falling to his side, as he was punched on the face.
“Oof!” Arashi flew back, before he flipped mid-air, landing on the ground and steadying himself.
“Looks like I’m not the only one who’s gotten better, huh?
Come at me, then!” He yelled, his excitement growing even further, as he disappeared in a burst of speed, appearing right besides Mirio.
Mirio, who had caught his fist, just smiled at Arashi…
Before disappearing as well.
Arashi was bewildered, before his eyes widened.
“An after image?!” He yelled, turning around quickly, but it was too late.
Nejire’s spiral shockwave rained down on Arashi, a beam that engulfed his entire body, as he was knocked back into the walls that separated them from the spectators.
Arashi slowly opened his eyes, looking at the concerned faces of Mirio and Nejire, who were waving at him.
“Hey, Arashi, are you alright?
Sorry if I went too hard on you.” Nejire brought a hand up to her neck, blushing in embarrassment.
Mirio only chuckled, as he looked into the eyes of Arashi.
“Don’t worry about it, Hado.
He’s perfectly fine.
Can you give us your flag, though?
We kind of need it.” Mirio asked, Arashi only chuckled, his hand rising up, as he handed his flag over.
“I wanted…
To fight Sukuna as well, but oh well..
This was fun too.
Thank you, Togata.” The sincerity in Arashi’s tone surprised both Mirio and Nejire, with Mirio smiling at the boy, who had grown much stronger over the last 2 weeks.
“Don’t worry about it, Arashi.
I’ll fight you as many times as you want.” He promised, getting an excited gleam from Arashi.
“You promise?” Arashi asked.
“I promise.” was Mirio’s reply.
____________________ With that, the second event of the Sports Festival came to an end.
The results went as followed : 1 – Midoriya Sukuna.
2 – Shikibuton Yomo.
3 – Team Hado.
4 – Team Oshare.
“THAT’S THE END OF THAT EVENT, FOLKS!
ME PERSONALLY?
IM GLAD I GOT TO WITNESS IT AGAIN!
IT WAS FUN!” Present Mic yelled, excited at the events that had unfolded.
“AND OUR SMART STUDENTS MADE IT EVEN MORE FUN BY FIGURING OUT THE LOOPHOLES OF THIS EVENT!
AS EXPECTED OF U.A, AM I RIGHT?!” He laughed, while the crowd cheered him on.
“YEAHHHHHH!!” “NOW, I DON’T NEED TO TELL ALL OF YOU WHAT THE LAST EVENT OF THIS COMPETITION IS!
IT’S PRETTY OBVIOUS, TO BE FAIR.
BUT IT’S THE TOURNAMENT!” He clenched his fists, even more excited than before, somehow.
“WE’LL GIVE OUR STUDENTS A 30 MINUTE BREAK BEFORE THIS EVENT STARTS!
I HOPE OUR DEAR SPECTATORS CAN MAKE IT BACK IN TIME, SINCE I’M SURE THE BATHROOM WILL BE FLOODED!” He joked, some of the crowd laughing alongside him.
‘The tournament, huh?’ Sukuna thought, his eyes locked onto Yomo.
‘I guess it’ll be time for our battle, then.
I hope you don’t disappoint me.’ He smirked.
Tell me what you guys think about it so far, and as always, enjoy!
