‘Seeing him act like he’s disgusted… or maybe not. If that’s the case, then it doesn’t matter.’
YeUwon had just been planning to tell him plainly that this kind of gathered material isn’t shared in a party, so it’d be more efficient not to party up. But then—
(Party) Gisekki: but lmaoooo why the fuck would you even think that
(Party) Gisekki: what, you kinda grateful now or what lmaooo?
For some reason, Gisekki’s character felt like he was looking at him with eyes full of expectation, and YeUwon’s hand froze.
‘No matter how you slice it, he looks like someone dying to take credit for this.’
Gisekki looked way too excited, and YeUwon missed the timing to correct him. He just stared blankly at Gisekki’s character for a moment.
In the end, he let out a soft snort and had no choice but to type back.
(Party) YeUbeomjeol: Yes, thank you.
What else could he do? It was obvious Gisekki was doing this to help him.
(Party) Gisekki: lol;
Even though he replied like he was a bit annoyed, it was clear he was thrilled. His Gi-ddoogi had just gotten stronger.
Because Gisekki was going wild like a lunatic, YeUwon only managed to get his hands on one or two cacti that he’d missed.
‘I mean, I went along with it on instinct, but… are we really gonna keep doing this super inefficiently?’
Still, since YeUwon prioritized efficiency, it was getting harder to tolerate as time went on.
‘I’ll just keep a little distance, that’s all.’
Since they were already in a party, switching channels wasn’t an option. To harvest cactus as efficiently as possible, YeUwon moved to the opposite side of the area.
This place hadn’t yet been touched by Gi-ddoogi’s rampage, so there were a lot of cacti left.
Thinking he should hurry and make a cactus mirror, YeUwon started moving. Every time he harvested a cactus, it made a little popping sound, giving him a weird sense of accomplishment.
He was deep into cactus farming when, even though it was just a game, he felt a strange prickling on the back of his neck. Like someone was watching him. That odd sensation made him glance back.
“…?”
And YeUwon flinched a little.
The Gisekki who had been tearing through cacti like a madman earlier was now just standing there at a distance, silently watching him.
He looked almost like a grim reaper. Was it just his imagination, or was there a strange chill glinting in the Necromancer’s eyes?
(Party) Gisekki: next to— no…
(Party) Gisekki: there
(Party) Gisekki: the fuck why
(Party) Gisekki: you
The moment YeUwon spotted him, Gisekki started spitting out a jumble of words.
Then he just stood there staring at YeUwon for a long while.
(Party) YeUbeomjeol: Huh?
Since the fragments didn’t make sense, YeUwon asked, but got no reply.
Before long, Gisekki turned his head sharply and went back to farming cacti like a lunatic.
‘…What the hell was that?’
What had he been trying to say?
But that thought vanished the moment YeUwon grabbed another cactus head.
The grind had resumed.
<You have obtained [Happy Cactus]! +170>
<You have obtained [Sad Cactus]! +23>
<You have obtained [Happy Cactus]! +171>
YeUwon grinned at the sight of 23 Sad Cacti.
He already had 171 Happy Cacti, but what he needed was 25 Sad Cacti.
‘Just two more to go.’
This game had a lot of useless crafting materials. One of them was the Tearful Cactus Mirror, which could be crafted from 25 Sad Cacti.
He’d seen on NewTube recently that using the mirror would let you transform into a sad cactus that danced while crying.
Other people found it creepy, but YeUwon thought those big, round, watery eyes were super cute—so he kept going for the Sad Cacti.
‘Drop rate is trash though.’
Of course, nothing in life came easy, but even after almost 200 Happy Cacti over two hours, he had just now hit 23 Sad Cacti.
<You have obtained [Sad Cactus]! +24>
<You have obtained [Sad Cactus]! +25>
“Oh…!”
Two popped at once. The 25th Sad Cactus landed in YeUwon’s inventory.
‘Finally free from this goddamn desert map.’
He’d been getting sick of staring at cactus thorns, so it ended at the perfect moment. Thinking that, he glanced to the side. Gisekki was…
‘AFK?’
He’d been mining cacti like a man possessed just a second ago.
But now, for some reason, he was just standing still. Wondering what the hell Gisekki was doing, YeUwon pulled up the party chat window he’d minimized earlier so it wouldn’t block his cactus farming.
And then he was stunned.
‘Why is there so much…?’
The party chat window was stuffed. Scrolling up, he saw it was full of messages from earlier when Gisekki had been calling him.
(Party) Gisekki: hey
(Party) Gisekki: YeUbeomjeol
(Party) Gisekki: hey
(Party) Gisekki: how many the fuck do you need
And it didn’t stop there—
(Party) Gisekki: ya ya ya YeUbeomjeol
(Party) Gisekki: hey YeU
(Party) Gisekki: hey
(Party) Gisekki: ya
‘He really called me that many times?’
Even when he scrolled and scrolled, it still wasn’t the end of it.
(Party) Gisekki: do you not know how to open the party window or something?
(Party) Gisekki: what the hell
(Party) Gisekki: did you block me?
(Party) Gisekki: guess not. I could send you gold.
And apparently, he’d sent 1,000 gold via mail for some reason.
That was just a little over ten bucks in real money, and YeUwon stared blankly at it before hitting “decline” and scrolling down in the chat.
(Party) Gisekki: hey;
(Party) Gisekki: what are you doing
(Party) Gisekki: hey
The chat was more or less just that over and over again. He’d just kept calling for YeUwon.
‘Now that I think about it, I vaguely remember something hovering in front of me later on.’
Even YeUwon got bored of the repeated gathering.
Partway through, he’d started watching videos on his phone, barely looking at the game screen.
(Party) YeUbeomjeol: Gisekki, I just saw your messages. Was something going on? I was kinda busy farming cactus…
But Gisekki didn’t reply.
Well, considering his last message had been 15 minutes ago, he was probably AFK.
(Party) YeUbeomjeol: Looks like you’ve finished farming too, so I’m gonna drop party—got stuff to do.
(Party) YeUbeomjeol: Thanks for the help!
With that, YeUwon left the party.
Sad Cactus would turn into Happy Cactus after two hours, so he had to go craft the mirror before that happened.
As he left the party, Gisekki seemed to twitch a little, but YeUwon was too busy tearing open a scroll and rushing to the crafting NPC in guild territory.
Craftsman NPC: Hahaha! You brought me Sad Cacti, full of tears and snot! I’ll hammer it out with style!
The boisterous NPC laughed as he took the 25 Sad Cacti, and instantly crafted a Tearful Cactus Mirror.
Finally. YeUwon gazed at the hard-earned cactus mirror with a look of deep emotion, then used it right away.
Tearful Cactus Mirror: Transforms you into a Sad Cactus!
YeUwon spun around in his new cactus body and chuckled.
‘Cute.’
Totally worth the effort. Those droopy arms and round, teary eyes were just too damn adorable.
As he wriggled around in cactus form, suddenly someone came running from far away—TrustingTheCactus.
(Guild) TrustingTheCactus: WHAT!! YeU-nim!!
(Guild) TrustingTheCactus: So you too have discovered this cactus’s cuteness!!!
When the hell did he show up?
Startled by the sudden appearance, YeUwon froze—just in time to see TrustingTheCactus transform too. It was—
(Guild) YeUbeomjeol: Tribe… mate?
(Guild) TrustingTheCactus: ^^7
The exact same dancing Sad Cactus.
(Guild) SIS: wh… wha…; what the fuck are those……;; am I hallucinating?;;
(Guild) Jinhee: What the hell… is that…?
As guildmates began to crowd around, murmuring, TrustingTheCactus gleefully ran over, pressed up against YeUwon, and started dancing with wobbly movements.
(Guild) TrustingTheCactus: :( ):
(Guild) TrustingTheCactus: :( ):
(Guild) TrustingTheCactus: :( ~ ˘▾˘)~

As the cactus danced with wiggling arms and typed emoticons, it was just too cute. YeUwon burst out laughing.
But the rest of the guild clearly disagreed.
