Early the next morning, Xie Cangyue walked into Hengyu Tower carrying a document bag.
Ten minutes later, Xuan Zuo led her into Shen Junhuai’s office.
“Please, have a seat, Miss Xie,” Xuan Zuo said.
Xie Cangyue sat down, glanced at Shen Junhuai, and then said to Xuan Zuo, “I do not believe I ever mentioned that my surname is Xie.”
Xuan Zuo smiled but remained silent.
Shen Junhuai looked at the document bag in her hands. “I hope what you have to say is important enough.”
Shen Junhuai had only found the time to see her today because Xie Cangyue had used Shen Zhaoran’s name to request the meeting.
Xie Cangyue did not waste any time. She took several documents out of the bag and placed them in front of Shen Junhuai one by one.
“My birth certificate, medical check-up report, blood type, and the blood types of my mother and my legal father. Just to be safe, I also went ahead and got a paternity test done.”
Xie Cangyue had type A blood, while both of her parents had type O blood.
Ever since Xie Cangyue had come into contact with Shen Zhaoran, Xuan Zuo had sent people to conduct a background check on her, and the data had been shown to Shen Junhuai. However, no one had focused on these particular details.
Shen Junhuai’s expression grew increasingly grave. After finishing the documents, he looked up and met Xie Cangyue’s eyes.
“Although this is all I have, I believe it should be sufficient,” Xie Cangyue said calmly. “I am willing to cooperate with you for a kinship test. Of course, if possible, providing samples from your parents would be more accurate.”
Shen Junhuai stood up and handed the documents to Xuan Zuo. “Go to the hospital.”
On the way to the hospital, Xuan Zuo finally had the chance to look at the documents. The more he read, the more shocked he became.
Years ago, Xia Qiaoya had been involved in a charity project. The organizers had repeatedly delayed the event until she was in her third trimester. Thinking it was for a good cause and would bring good karma to her child, she went anyway while heavily pregnant. Unfortunately, they encountered a mudslide. Although she was not physically injured, the shock caused her to go into premature labor. The people who accompanied her were not as lucky; most were injured. The only one who remained by Xia Qiaoya’s side unscathed was a young assistant.
By the time Shen Chengshan arrived with his team, Shen Zhaoran had already been born.
Xie Cangyue was the female infant born in the same hospital at the same time.
Since both Xia Qiaoya and Shen Chengshan had type A blood, no one felt it was strange that Shen Zhaoran had type O blood.
Xie Cangyue was placed in a separate car. Xuan Zuo glanced at his boss, who was sitting alone in the backseat with a grim expression, and asked, “Do you need to contact Chairman Shen and President Xia?”
“No, use my samples first.”
“Understood.”
Xuan Zuo silently contacted the hospital, not daring to ask if they should inform Shen Zhaoran about this.
Shen Junhuai’s mind was in chaos. He opened his phone several times, but in the end, he only sent one message to Shen Zhaoran.
Shen Junhuai: What are you doing?
Shen Zhaoran: New stones just arrived at the studio. Aren’t they beautiful?
Shen Junhuai: Very beautiful.
Shen Zhaoran: I was just about to sneakily keep them, but Ruan Yan caught me! She said she would report me to the police for theft!

Shen Junhuai: Are you running low on money?
Shen Zhaoran: No, no. I have more than enough. I was just joking. I bought these stones with my own money; she is just afraid I will use them to make a brooch for you again.
Shen Zhaoran retracted the message.
Shen Zhaoran: I did not say anything. I am going to be busy now.

Shen Junhuai’s lips curled up slightly, and his heart felt a bit lighter. That was until the car stopped and he saw Xie Cangyue getting out of the car across from them.
His smile vanished. It was incredibly troublesome.
They remained silent while taking the samples. Shen Junhuai had three sets of samples sent to different hospitals. All they could do now was wait.
The wait was not long, and no one was surprised when the results came out.
Something like this could not be faked. Furthermore, just by looking at Xie Cangyue’s appearance, Shen Junhuai was already halfway convinced.
Xia Qiaoya possessed an aggressive beauty, bold and grand, while Shen Chengshan was quietly handsome. Shen Junhuai’s appearance perfectly blended their beauty. Looking closely at Xie Cangyue’s features, she resembled how he had looked in his youth.
In contrast, Shen Zhaoran was also beautiful, but her features were delicate and small, actually resembling Xie Xiangxue more.
They sat in a nearby coffee shop, falling into another long silence.
Shen Junhuai looked expressionlessly at his biological sister, whom he had barely met, and asked, “When did you find out?”
“During a check-up in middle school. I had just learned about blood type inheritance and accidentally found out the blood type of the man I call my father. Although the hospital was chaotic due to the mudslide and many patients, there were not many babies born that day.”
Shen Junhuai frowned at her, seemingly confused.
Seeing his bewilderment, Xie Cangyue explained, “I could not find anything else at the time, but the Shen family is very famous and easy to find. I do look very much like you all. Although there were no photos of Shen Zhaoran online, there were many reports about her poor health.”
“My mother is a good woman. No matter how poor we were, whenever she had money, she would always buy clothes and good food for me first.”
Xie Cangyue looked up and met Shen Junhuai’s eyes. “I could not guess your intentions. I was not sure if you would want to keep both of us or just one, but neither choice would have been good for her.”
In fact, she had an intuition back then that the Shen family would never want Shen Zhaoran to return to that remote town. Although Xie Xiangxue’s life was bitter, she lived with hope every day just by looking at Xie Cangyue. If Xie Cangyue were gone, how would Xie Xiangxue have continued on alone?
Shen Junhuai had not expected a child to have such a firm plan.
While waiting for the report in the afternoon, the others were not idle. More information regarding Xie Cangyue’s past was delivered to Shen Junhuai.
“You started skipping grades when you were young, and in the end, you secretly took the college entrance exam three times behind your family’s back.” Shen Junhuai looked at the documents, which were truly outrageous. “All for the prize money?”
Xie Cangyue nodded. “At the time, the doctor said I could switch my mother to imported medicine, but it was very expensive and not covered by insurance. It just so happened that the school promised me one hundred thousand if I ranked first in the district and two hundred thousand if I ranked first in the city. The next year, I switched to a different school that offered even more.”
The truth eventually came out. In the third year, after she finished the exam, Xie Xiangxue discovered the truth. Xie Xiangxue hugged her and cried, saying that even if she stopped the treatment, she could not let Xie Cangyue ruin her life.
Xie Cangyue had no choice but to take her admission letter and bring Xie Xiangxue to Beijing. She studied and earned money while Xie Xiangxue stayed in Beijing for treatment.
Even Shen Junhuai was amused by her actions. “Why did you not aim for the provincial top spot?”
“The target would have been too large and too easy for my mother to discover. However, if I had known I would be caught in the third year anyway, I would not have held back. I could have earned more money.”
Xie Cangyue mentioned this without a hint of regret; there was only a sense of pity that she had not been bolder.
