The bodyguards rushed forward one after another, their faces fierce, surrounding Qiao Xi tightly.
She was already thin and fragile, yet she still shielded her younger brother with reckless determination. In the midst of them all, she looked like a small boat caught in a storm.
Her gaze anxiously swept toward the outside. Just moments ago, Nan Gong He’s assistant Mo Hua had been here.
Even if her identity as the “Mrs. Nan Gong” was fake, they couldn’t just stand by and watch her be cornered by the Qiao family like this, could they?
She quickly scanned the area and suddenly raised her voice.
“Assistant Mo!”
Qiao Qilin let out a cold laugh and spread his hands.
“See? Didn’t I tell you this before, Father always warns you. I told you long ago—the Nan Gong family isn’t reliable. Now, hand it over. Delete the video and I’ll let you leave.”
Qiao Xi’s heart sank in disappointment.
She really must have been foolish to place any hope in Nan Gong He.
It seemed she could only rely on herself after all.
Her expression turned cold. Suddenly, she lifted her leg and kicked the bodyguard in front of her.
Caught off guard, the man stumbled back several steps.
The others reacted instantly and swarmed forward, blocking her completely.
“Why are you still standing there? Get her!” Qiao Qilin ordered sharply, frowning.
Qiao Xi resisted for a moment, but she was already running out of strength. Two fists could not fight four hands—she was about to be caught.
At that moment—
The door behind them was suddenly kicked open.
A bodyguard was sent flying from behind and crashed directly in front of Qiao Qilin.
Qiao Qilin startled and widened his eyes.
“Who is it?!”
“A spectator.”
Nan Gong He’s voice came from behind him, cold and sharp to the extreme.
Though he said he was merely “watching the show,” his tone was so icy it felt like a blade could form from it and strike down on one’s skull.
Qiao Qilin turned around slowly, forcing a smile.
“Mr. Nan Gong? What a coincidence. To run into you here… the hospital isn’t exactly close to your company, is it?”
“Not close. But watching a show isn’t a bad use of time.”
He wore black. No flashy accessories, no extravagance—yet he carried an overwhelming aura of nobility.
His gaze, however, landed sharply on the bodyguard gripping Qiao Xi’s arm.
The man felt as if electricity ran through him. His hand trembled—and immediately released her.
Nan Gong He glanced toward Qiao Xi and said calmly:
“Aren’t you supposed to be transferring hospitals? Why is it taking so long? Come here.”
Qiao Xi tightened her grip on her phone and pushed through the crowd toward him.
Qiao Qilin grew anxious and stepped forward to block her.
“The phone…”
Nan Gong He lifted his eyes slightly, his expression cold and restrained.
“Mr. Qiao, know when to stop.”
His final words were spoken very softly—but carried an overwhelming pressure that silenced everything.
Qiao Qilin’s hand froze mid-air as a chill crept up his spine.
The bodyguard who had been thrown earlier was still on the ground, groaning in pain, clutching his arm. From the way it hung, it was likely broken or severely fractured.
Outside, a dense line of black-clad bodyguards stood—clearly all Nan Gong He’s men.
It was obvious he hadn’t come to reason with Qiao Qilin. He had come to warn him—and to back Qiao Xi up.
Qiao Qilin’s expression changed drastically. He finally understood what “know when to stop” meant.
If he continued, his fate would likely be no better than that bodyguard’s.
Grinding his teeth, he finally forced out a smile and backed down.
“Alright, alright. Young people’s affairs—we elders shouldn’t interfere. Do as you please. I’ll be leaving now.”
