Jiang Zhuo wasn’t angry or upset, he just felt it was a bit of a waste. These were the few flowers he thought looked the best.
He hurriedly crouched down to pick up the flowers from the floor, sighing to himself. Sure enough, his mom hadn’t lied to him, sick people were all like little kids.
Looks like he really was just like his mom said too, whenever he got sick with a cold, he became especially mischievous.
Jiang Zhuo: “Hey, don’t throw them away. If you don’t like them, let Aunt Zhong put them in her room.”
Aunt Zhong hurried over to help clean up. She had wanted to say something, but Qiu Xianzhi stopped her with a wave of his hand.
Qiu Xianzhi looked at Jiang Zhuo coldly. “Know your place!”
Qiu Xianzhi’s tone dripped with cold mockery. Anyone could hear what he meant.
A flash of inspiration went through Jiang Zhuo’s mind, and he suddenly understood. Right, he was here for a Joyful Marriage. He had almost forgotten.
He abruptly got to his feet and hugged Qiu Xianzhi, then quickly pulled back and put some distance between them.
Qiu Xianzhi had thought that after hearing that, Jiang Zhuo would be angry, furious, or force a smile and try to explain himself in front of him. At the very least, he thought he’d just turn around and leave.
He never in a million years expected him to come over and hug him. If there hadn’t been a small damp patch on his chest, he would have thought he was hallucinating.
Jiang Zhuo: “I remember, I came for the Joyful Marriage. Don’t worry, I’ll work hard to help you get better, starting today.”
While everyone was still wondering what he meant by starting what and working hard how, Jiang Zhuo bent down again and gave Qiu Xianzhi another hug, this time even patting him on the back.
Jiang Zhuo: “This one makes up for yesterday’s. If I hug you once every day, it’ll drive away all the bad luck stuck to you, and then you’ll get better.”
After saying that, Jiang Zhuo ran upstairs with his whole face bright red. Inside, though, he was secretly delighted, his very soul screaming, a big shot really is a big shot.
The tips of Qiu Xianzhi’s ears had turned red too, and his heartbeat had picked up a few beats. Dizzy-headed, Qiu Xianzhi noticed there were still people standing nearby, so he put on a show and said two words: “Outrageous.”
Then he comforted himself inwardly, forget it, forget it, no point arguing with an idiot.
Starting the next day, the first thing Jiang Zhuo did when he came downstairs was go hug Qiu Xianzhi, then lean close to his ear and murmur in a low voice, bad luck, go away already, good things, come quickly.
At first Qiu Xianzhi resisted a little and simply avoided him. He could dodge him in the morning, and then in the afternoon, but even at night, Jiang Zhuo would trail behind Uncle Zhong until he managed to hug him no matter what.
Once there was a first and second time, by the third time Qiu Xianzhi had gotten used to it. Starting from the fourth day, Qiu Xianzhi was even beginning to look forward to it.
On the fifth day, Qiu Xianzhi had already finished breakfast by the time Jiang Zhuo came downstairs, looking half asleep.
Even while yawning again and again, Jiang Zhuo still didn’t forget to greet Qiu Xianzhi and offer him his warm embrace. “Morning, Qiu Xianzhi, bad luck, go away already, good things, come quickly.”
The past few days, Jiang Zhuo had only given him a light hug before straightening up. This time, he directly leaned half his body weight onto Qiu Xianzhi. After speaking, he let out another yawn and didn’t want to get up.
Qiu Xianzhi looked at the person using him for support and nearly falling asleep. So he’d stayed up all night playing games. It was something that he still remembered the morning hug.
He helped the man off himself and dumped him onto the sofa beside them.
Qiu Xianzhi: “Morning. You stayed up late?”
Jiang Zhuo lay on the sofa and shook his head with his eyes closed.
Jiang Zhuo: “Staying up late is bad for your health, so I chose to stay up all night.”
Qiu Xianzhi let out a soft laugh when he heard that, and then there was a stretch of silence. He had just been about to remind Jiang Zhuo to eat breakfast when he realized the man had already fallen asleep.
He had Aunt Zhong bring over a light blanket to cover Jiang Zhuo, then went back to the book in his hands.
He turned several pages, but only Qiu Xianzhi knew he hadn’t taken in a single word. He kept wanting to turn his head and look at the sleeping boy.
Jiang Zhuo’s skin was as fair and delicate as a child’s. When he rolled over, a red pressure mark appeared on the side of his face.
Qiu Xianzhi thought Jiang Zhuo was about to wake up, so he turned his head and pretended to read.
