And Jiang Zhuo really did groggily open his eyes and call out Qiu Xianzhi’s name, his voice lazy and husky. “Qiu Xianzhi.”
Standing in the corner, Aunt Zhong heard Jiang Zhuo call Qiu Xianzhi by his full name and felt a little dazed. It had been a long time since she’d heard anyone call Qiu Xianzhi by his full name.
She had almost started to think no one close to him would ever appear in his life.
Jiang Zhuo’s catch-up sleep lasted right up until lunch.
He woke up still foggy, only feeling thirsty and not wanting to move.
Jiang Zhuo said, “Qiu Xianzhi, could you pour me a glass of water? Thanks.”
The moment Qiu Xianzhi saw that he was awake, the first thing he did was tell him to pour water for him, and he even thanked him in advance.
Gulp gulp, one full glass went down into his stomach. He handed the cup back to Qiu Xianzhi, then flopped back onto the sofa, his head blank, his eyes staring dully at the ceiling.
Qiu Xianzhi ended up glancing up too, unable to stop himself, to see what was so special about the ceiling in his house.
It wasn’t until Aunt Zhong called them to eat that Jiang Zhuo pulled his wandering thoughts back, and then he saw there was already one more person at the table eating.
Still half-asleep, Jiang Zhuo saw a large gaudy butterfly bent over the table sipping nectar.
Jiang Zhuo leaned over the table and waved at her, which counted as a greeting.
The gaudy butterfly waved back, then looked Jiang Zhuo up and down. He looked like he was still school age, specially sent over for Qiu Xianzhi, though she had no idea whose child he was.
After looking Jiang Zhuo over, the gaudy butterfly looked at Qiu Xianzhi again. Beast. A thirty-one-year-old old man, no less.
The cold water glass made Jiang Zhuo shiver, and that finally woke him up. He took the glass from Qiu Xianzhi’s hand and took a small sip.
Qiu Xianzhi said, “Jiang Zhuo, this is Qi Ziling. Just call her Ziling.”
Jiang Zhuo said, “Hi, Ziling. My name is Jiang Zhuo. I’m the groom brought in for Qiu Xianzhi’s Joyful Marriage.”
At that last sentence, Qi Ziling choked on her soup and started coughing. She quickly covered her mouth with a napkin, barely keeping herself from losing composure.
#Qi Ziling: “Sorry, sorry!”
Qi Ziling expressed her apology for losing her composure at the dining table.
#Qi Ziling A, a Joyful Marriage one? Sent by the Qiu Family?
Qi Ziling was extremely shocked. Qiu Xianzhi nodded helplessly. It was one thing that this kid was single-minded, but his nerves were something else too.
Now Qi Ziling looked Jiang Zhuo over with even more curiosity. The kid looked so clean and fresh, not at all like someone sent by the Qiu Family. If he’d said he came on his own, she would have found that more believable.
As one of Qiu Xianzhi’s very few childhood friends, even though these past few years it had mostly been her one-sidedly running over to his house to mooch meals and show up in front of him to rack up friendship points, they had still grown up together after all. Who told her to be so kind-hearted, always caring about an old friend?
Of course she knew that Qiu Xianzhi’s grandmother loved throwing her age around whenever she had the chance, and the kind of trash she sent over.
Jiang Zhuo had just woken up and didn’t really want to eat. Qiu Xianzhi didn’t have much appetite either, and after a few bites he put his chopsticks down. Qi Ziling’s mind wasn’t on the meal at all, her fingers flying as she sent messages.
At one dining table, none of the three moved their chopsticks much, as if each of them had something on their mind.
These past two days, the fountain in the garden was being repaired, so Uncle Zhong had to go check on it from time to time.
The moment Jiang Zhuo saw Uncle Zhong heading for the garden, he put down his bowl and chopsticks and wanted to follow. He still hadn’t forgotten about the rabbit digging holes in the garden.
#Jiang Zhuo Qiu Xianzhi, I’m going to catch you a rabbit. You two take your time eating.
After watching Jiang Zhuo leave, Qi Ziling changed seats and moved closer to Qiu Xianzhi.
##Qi Ziling The one sent from the old residence, do you know his background clearly?
