Watching Jiang Zhuo’s move, Qi Ziling had just started to raise a hand to flash an internationally understood gesture, when Jiang Zhuo’s hand came out too.
The two of them were like people who’d known each other forever and bickered all the time, silently in sync as they each raised a middle finger at the other.
Qiu Xianzhi also picked up a piece of meat for Jiang Zhuo, and it just so happened to be the thigh meat Qi Ziling had been eyeing so eagerly.
Then another bowl stretched over, the meaning obvious, what about the other leg?!
But Jiang Zhuo was quicker, snatching up the other leg and dropping it into Qiu Xianzhi’s bowl, and while he was at it, rewarding Qi Ziling with a dried chili pepper.
He finally understood. Those two shameless men were ganging up to bully him.
And so, at the dinner table, two five-year-olds were locked in a contest, while Qiu Xianzhi looked like he wasn’t involved, though in truth, he was watching every single move.
Not letting Jiang Zhuo suffer even the slightest loss.
When the previous dish came, Jiang Zhuo didn’t get the last bite, so Qiu Xianzhi gave him the one from his own bowl.
And as a bonus, when the next dish Qi Ziling liked arrived, he didn’t get a single bite.
For the first time, Aunt Zhong felt that serving a meal at home, even at a table of just three people, somehow gave her the feeling of working a banquet.
The moment she carried a dish out of the kitchen, chopsticks were already waiting for it. Before the next dish even made it to the table, the previous one was gone.
Even while clearing the table after the meal, Aunt Zhong was still thinking that thanks to Jiang Zhuo and Qi Ziling, the young master had eaten quite a lot today.
Usually all the dishes would be set out, and they would quietly finish the meal. No matter how good the food tasted, he’d only take one or two extra bites at most. But today, all three of them had eaten plenty!
Unable to withstand the manager’s relentless bombardment, Qi Ziling rested for a bit and then left.
Only the two of them were left in the living room.
Qiu Xianzhi read his book, listening to the bright, lively tune from the mobile game beside him, and didn’t find it annoying. If anything, he felt even more focused than he usually did in silence.
He was already reading this book for the second time, just to pass the time, and this time he had found a different kind of insight in it.
Just as he was deep in thought, he suddenly felt someone tug at his sleeve. He turned his head and saw Jiang Zhuo squatting beside him, gazing at him with sparkling eyes.
Like a little cat asking someone to play with it. For a split second, Qiu Xianzhi wanted to reach out and rub that fluffy head.
Not knowing that once a cat was properly petted, it would show its soft little belly and roll around on the floor.
Jiang Zhuo directly pulled the book out of Qiu Xianzhi’s hand and waved the phone in his own. “Do you know how to play this?”
For some reason, his tone even sounded a little coquettish!
The level Jiang Zhuo had failed twice at was cleared smoothly under Qiu Xianzhi’s control. Jiang Zhuo’s eyes lit up as he clapped. “Wow! You’re amazing.”
President Qiu, who stayed perfectly composed in front of cameras and countless eyes, who moved with complete ease through drinking parties and banquets, was instead, for the first time, made to feel a little shy by just this bit of praise.
Jiang Zhuo: “Do you know Honor of Kings?”
Qiu Xianzhi shook his head.
#Jiang Zhuo: “Then what about Plants vs. Zombies?”
Qiu Xianzhi still shook his head.
Jiang Zhuo placed both hands on Qiu Xianzhi’s sleeve and suddenly thought he seemed so pitiful, never having played anything. A burst of paternal affection welled up in him, and he hurried to comfort him.
Jiang Zhuo: “It’s okay, I’ll add you on WeChat. I know how to play, I can carry you. I’m really good at other games too.”
