Sahriar was about to rush forward and save Zimal when suddenly his phone rang.
He stopped.
It was a call from his father’s manager.
The moment he answered, a panicked voice came from the other side.
”Sir… Chairman sir has suffered a heart attack.”
For a fraction of a second, everything froze.
The world, the noise, the chaos… everything disappeared from Sahriar’s mind.
Without saying a single word, he turned around abruptly.
”Sir—!” someone called behind him, but he didn’t stop.
He got into his car and drove away at full speed, heading straight toward the hospital where his father was admitted.
And just like that…
Zimal was left behind.
Unconscious.
Bleeding.
In a collapsing structure.
No one had noticed the danger more than Zawar.
When he realized what had happened, his face turned pale.
For the first time, his usual calm disappeared.
”Zimal!” he shouted and rushed inside.
Dust filled the air.
Broken concrete blocked the path.
But he didn’t stop.
He pushed through everything, searching desperately.
”Zimal… where are you?”
Then he saw her.
Lying on the ground.
Unconscious.
Blood dripping from her head.
His heart stopped for a second.
”Zimal!” he ran toward her, dropping to his knees instantly.
He quickly lifted her carefully.
”You’re okay… you’re okay… I’m here,” he whispered, panic shaking his voice.
Without wasting another second, he carried her out of the building.
Outside, Ibrahim also joined him quickly, helping them rush her toward the hospital.
—
At the hospital, Zimal was immediately admitted.
Her condition was serious.
The doctor’s words echoed in the corridor.
”She lost a lot of blood.
We are trying to stabilize her.
She is in the ICU now.
Please wait and pray.”
Those words shattered everyone.
Afifa arrived shortly after, breathless and crying.
”No… this can’t be happening…” she whispered, covering her face.
Zawar stood silently, his fists clenched.
If anything happened to her…
He didn’t know what he would do.
Inside the ICU, Zimal lay unconscious.
Machines beeped softly around her.
Zawar, Afifa, and Ibrahim stood outside the glass window, watching her helplessly.
Time felt like it had stopped.
Zawar’s eyes didn’t leave her face for even a second.
”I can’t lose her…” he whispered.
“Not like this…”
His voice cracked.
”She has to wake up…”
—
Hours later, heavy footsteps echoed through the hospital corridor.
Sahriar arrived.
His breath was uneven.
His shirt slightly soaked from the rain.
His eyes were red.
Not just tired…
Broken.
He walked straight to Ibrahim.
”What happened?” he asked in a low voice.
Ibrahim pointed toward the ICU.
”She is inside, sir…”
Sahriar didn’t wait.
He looked through the glass.
And there she was.
Zimal.
Unmoving.
Attached to machines.
For the first time, Sahriar Sikander’s expression completely changed.
Something inside him cracked.
Before he could step forward—
Zawar grabbed him by the collar.
”YOU!” Zawar shouted, his voice shaking with rage.
“I know you were there first!”
Sahriar didn’t move.
Zawar’s grip tightened.
”If you had taken her to the hospital on time, she wouldn’t be like this!
This is your fault!”
Afifa also stepped forward, her eyes filled with disappointment.
”So it was you… you left her there?”
Her voice was sharp.
”People were right.
You don’t save lives… you destroy them.”
Ibrahim quickly pulled Zawar back.
”Are you insane?!
Let go of him!”
But Sahriar didn’t react.
Not even once.
He just stood there.
Silent.
Broken.
As if the entire world had collapsed inside him.
For the first time in his life…
He had no words.
No defense.
No arrogance.
Just regret.
Ibrahim gently pulled him aside.
”Sir… are you okay?”
Without waiting for an answer, Ibrahim hugged him.
Because he could see it clearly now.
The man everyone feared…
Was shaking from inside.
Not because of power.
But because of fear.
Fear of losing her.
—
The night passed slowly.
No one slept.
No one moved far from the ICU door.
At around 5:00 AM, the doctor finally came out.
”She is stable now,” he said calmly, “but she is still unconscious.
We will have to wait for her to wake up.”
A wave of relief hit everyone at once.
Afifa cried in relief.
Zawar closed his eyes tightly.
Ibrahim informed Sahriar immediately.
When Sahriar heard it, he finally exhaled.
For the first time that night…
He could breathe properly.
But he didn’t smile.
He didn’t relax fully.
He simply sat near the corridor…
Waiting.
—
Afifa looked at Sahriar with cold eyes.
”Sir… you can leave now.
We don’t need you here anymore.”
The words were sharp.
Zawar also stayed silent this time, but his anger was still visible.
Sahriar slowly stood up.
”What you did yesterday…” he said coldly, “I was not in my senses.”
A pause.
”But if any of you ever speak to me like that again… then instead of Zimal, it won’t end well for you.”
Silence fell again.
Afifa’s fists tightened.
Zawar looked away angrily.
Sahriar turned to Ibrahim.
”Did you do what I told you?”
”Yes, sir.”
”Good.
Let’s go.”
He started walking away.
Ibrahim hesitated.
“Sir… Zimal—”
”She is not a child,” Sahriar cut him off.
“She has them with her.
Let’s go.”
And just like that…
He left.
—
Inside the car, silence filled the space.
Ibrahim finally spoke.
”Sir… I don’t understand you.”
Sahriar stared out the window.
”You don’t need to.”
Ibrahim frowned.
“Yesterday you looked like you were dying inside… and today you act like nothing happened.”
Sahriar’s jaw tightened slightly.
”Focus on your work, Ibrahim.
Not on me.”
A pause.
”Find out what really happened at the construction site.
I want CCTV footage.
Call every worker.”
Ibrahim nodded immediately.
”Yes, sir.”
Sahriar’s eyes darkened.
”This wasn’t an accident.”
Ibrahim looked at him.
”You think someone planned it?”
Sahriar’s voice turned cold.
”Yes.”
His gaze hardened.
”This was not a mistake… it was an attempt to destroy my company.”
—
At the hospital, the machines kept beeping softly.
Zimal still lay unconscious.
But for the first time…
Her fingers moved slightly.
As if she was slowly coming back.
As if something inside her was refusing to give up.
And somewhere far away…
Sahriar sat in silence.
But his mind was not at peace.
Because no matter how far he went…
One thought refused to leave him.
Zimal… wake up.
