After returning home, Gu Wanshi remembered she still had two unused lottery draws, so she had the system activate them.
The draw finished quickly, and Gu Wanshi gained ten points to bearing and ten points to physical strength.
Her appearance score was now high enough that she could enter the entertainment industry without issue.
Her bearing and physical strength scores were also gradually climbing.
Only her combat score was still zero. Although she now had a capable personal bodyguard like Zhao Tong, Gu Wanshi still felt she needed to grow stronger herself.
“Zhao Tong.”
Zhao Tong had been scrolling her phone with her head down, and looked up to find Gu Wanshi watching her with a determined look.
“Boss, don’t look at me like that, it’s scary.”
“Don’t be scared.” Gu Wanshi gave her a friendly smile. “Let’s get up early tomorrow morning and go for a jog! And then, teach me a couple of moves!”
“Huh?” Zhao Tong looked a little dazed.
“I know starting now is probably too late, but even just a couple of simple self-defense moves would be fine.”
That way, she’d at least have some basic protection herself, and once her combat score started rising, there’d be even less to worry about.
“Sure!” Zhao Tong seemed rather pleased. “Actually, I’ve always had the habit of jogging in the morning.”
But now that she was Gu Wanshi’s personal bodyguard, she certainly couldn’t leave Gu Wanshi alone at home by herself.
In the morning, Gu Wanshi forced herself out of bed, and went out jogging around the complex with Zhao Tong.
However, her body’s current physical strength wasn’t particularly high, so the two of them jogged fairly slowly.
Just as they finished, the system’s voice rang out in Gu Wanshi’s mind.
“Ding! Current main quest activated: spend one hundred million within five hours, and earn two lottery draws in addition to the rebate.”
Five hours, to spend one hundred million?
Gu Wanshi immediately grabbed Zhao Tong and ran back home.
“Boss, what’s wrong?” Zhao Tong asked, bewildered.
“Hurry home, shower, change, and then let’s go look at cars!”
If she wanted to spend one hundred million in such a short time, buying a luxury car would be the fastest way.
And as it happened, she really did need a car right now.
Although Zhao Tong had no idea why her boss had suddenly grown so urgent, to her, whatever the boss said was to be followed without question, so once they got home she showered and changed at top speed, even faster than Gu Wanshi.
In under an hour, the two of them had already arrived at a 4S dealership.
Gu Wanshi told the salesperson directly that her budget was around one hundred million and asked him to make recommendations.
The salesperson realized at once that a big spender had walked in!
“Please, have a seat! I’ll bring you some cake and coffee. Would you like sugar in your coffee? How much?”
“No need!” Gu Wanshi waved her hand quickly. “No need for any of that, just hurry up and show me the cars. If I like one, I’ll buy it right away, I’m short on time.”
Although she still had four hours before the quest deadline, it was better to move quickly.
“Of course, please follow me.”
Gu Wanshi didn’t know much about cars, in her past life, her manager had picked out her car for her.
Now, listening to the salesperson’s various introductions, she felt a little lost.
Fortunately, Zhao Tong knew a bit about it and could offer her some advice.
In the end, Gu Wanshi chose a limited-edition Ferrari sports car, priced at over ninety million, and with various fees added on, it came to just a bit over one hundred million.
Gu Wanshi decisively bought it outright with full payment, signing the contract and completing payment in one smooth motion, leaving the store’s salespeople stunned.
As for the salesperson who’d attended to her, he was practically overjoyed.
He’d worked here for three years, and this was the first time he’d ever met a customer this decisive and this wealthy!
He wasn’t the only one thrilled, Gu Wanshi was pleased too.
The hundred-million quest was complete just like that, earning her a sevenfold rebate.
A full seven hundred million!
In her past life, she’d had money too, but she’d earned it bit by bit.
But now… was this what getting rich overnight felt like?
The new car could be driven straight out of the dealership. Gu Wanshi knew how to drive, but the original owner didn’t have a license, so she couldn’t drive it herself right now.
But Zhao Tong did, and Gu Wanshi had already had her bring her license along before they left.
So on the way back, Zhao Tong was the one driving.
“Boss, this is the first time I’ve driven such an expensive car, my hands are a little shaky,” Zhao Tong said, somewhat embarrassed.
“It’s fine.” Gu Wanshi smiled. “Just drive with confidence! As long as you follow traffic rules, you’ll be fine.”
“Absolutely!”
Sitting in the car, Gu Wanshi thought to herself that she’d have to find time to get a driver’s license too.
Speaking of which, the original owner really had it rough, a wealthy family’s daughter by blood, yet neither loved by her biological father nor her mother, and even her adoptive parents’ family favored sons over daughters.
Her adoptive family’s circumstances had already been quite ordinary to begin with, and they’d given everything good to the original owner’s younger brother instead.
As for the original owner, being scolded and beaten was a common occurrence.
Growing up, the original owner had lived quite an unfair life, never even getting the chance to get a driver’s license.
What Gu Wanshi didn’t know was that just as she and Zhao Tong drove away from the dealership, another car pulled up right outside its entrance.
And the ones stepping out of that car were none other than the siblings Gu Zihao and Gu Wanning.
Gu Wanning watched the car driving off into the distance and exclaimed, “Brother, look, isn’t that the new Ferrari that just came out recently, a limited edition too! I heard only two of them came to our city!”
“Should be.” Gu Zihao nodded, a hint of envy in his expression.
He’d wanted to buy one too, but that car cost a full hundred million to get…
The Gu family certainly had money, but the company needed cash flow recently, so they couldn’t just pull out a hundred million to buy him a car all at once.
“I want one too!” Gu Wanning tugged at Gu Zihao’s arm. “Brother, maybe there’s one left, won’t you buy it for me?”
“Stop it.” Gu Zihao said helplessly. “I can’t come up with a hundred million to buy you a car right now, do you want to watch the company collapse? Didn’t we already agree before coming here, you’d pick out a car in the four or five hundred thousand range instead.”
Gu Wanning was quite dissatisfied, but there was nothing she could do, so she could only watch enviously as the limited-edition Ferrari she wanted so badly drove off into the distance.
Who knows who had bought that car!
The moment Gu Wanshi got home, she received a message from Mu Anqian, inviting her to dinner three days later at six in the evening at “Snow-Filled Chang’an” restaurant.
“Wanshi, you absolutely have to come. You saved my grandmother, if I don’t even get the chance to treat you to a meal, I’ll seriously want to bang my head against a wall!”
Gu Wanshi didn’t need to be repaid, but she knew perfectly well that building a connection with a top-tier family like the Mu family could only bring benefits, so she agreed.
“Okay, I’ll definitely be there.”
“Wonderful!” Mu Anqian replied almost instantly. “I’ll wait for you outside the restaurant! Oh, by the way, my older brother should be coming that day too. He’s the type who always has a sour face, just ignore him if he acts that way.”
Mu Anqian’s older brother?
Gu Wanshi searched through her memories for this person.
