Kai’s expression darkened even further. He swore to himself that once he took down the Dragon, he would smash this Ahri into the ground; that hero had been dancing around him too disrespectfully.
To ensure Kai could secure the Dragon safely, Lady Wang also activated her ultimate ability. Her third skill was an ice storm that covered nearly the majority of the Dragon pit. As long as Ahri remained within the pit to attack, there was absolutely no way to dodge the baptism of the ice storm.
Seeing the opposing Kai and Lady Wang activate their ultimate’s back-to-back, Xu Qing, controlling Ahri, used his umbrella to retreat out of the Dragon pit.
Watching Xu Qing leave, the opponents had not lost a single player, and the Dragon seemed firmly in their grasp, though Kai’s health bar was looking rather unhealthy.
Old Bull, feeling annoyed, messaged: “What are you trying to show off for?”
With Ahri’s current gold level, he could not possibly take out the opponents.
Xu Qing had merely stepped out of Lady Wang’s range, but he had not completely disengaged.
Xu Qing turned on his microphone: “Almost time.”
Old Bull swung his hammer while spamming question marks in chat, not understanding what Xu Qing meant: “?”
“What do you mean ‘almost time’?”
Xu Qing kept his eyes on their teammates who were respawning and rushing toward the pit.
Just as Xu Qing finished speaking, their teammates arrived.
It was no longer 2 versus 4.
It was 4 versus 5.
And with three of their players at full health, the advantage was in their hands.
The opponents were down two ultimate abilities, and Kai was sitting at nearly one-third health.
The situation flipped in an instant.
Seeing the respawned players arrive, Kai’s heart tightened. He had been too focused on the pesky Ahri jumping around and the Dragon, nearly forgetting the opponents’ respawn timers.
They had only started the Dragon because they had timed it for when three of the enemy players were dead.
They had not expected that a 10-minute Dragon would result in such a prolonged struggle because of Ahri’s harassment.
Seeing all five opponents arrive while they only had four, their movements became instinctively panicked. The Dragon, which they had been controlling steadily, was snatched away at the last second by the precise smite of Xu Qing’s team’s jungler.
Kai’s face turned completely black. Without his ultimate and with his current health, there was no way he could beat all five opponents.
“Retreat!”
Kai commanded in the team chat. Despite his frustration, having lost the Dragon after fighting for so long, he did not want to lose players here. Since they were mostly outside the pit, retreat was feasible.
Seeing their intent, a smirk played on Xu Qing’s lips, though his eyes remained icy.
“Want to leave? Too late.”
Ahri directly used Flash, activated his ultimate, and targeted Kai. He shoved Kai, who was about to clear the Dragon pit, right back into the center. A few basic attacks plus burst damage took Kai’s head.
While the opponents had not yet fully withdrawn, Ahri continued to activate his first skill, jumped out of the pit, and precisely tracked down Yu Ji, who was hiding in the grass. Relying on movement and basic attacks, he finished off Yu Ji, who still had half her health.
When the enemy Top Laner rushed toward him, Ahri reactivated his still-active first skill to return to the umbrella, retreating back into the Dragon pit area. Once more, he hid behind Old Bull. With his health bar showing that infuriating sliver of red, he returned to a safe spot and started his recall, cheekily typing in the public chat:
“You come and chase me.”
Ten minutes later, Wan Yi finally emerged from the bathroom, looking refreshed.
Wan Yi grumbled as he kicked his feet: “I have not eaten anything since this morning, so why would I have an upset stomach?”
Wan Li had just finished a game. He set down his phone and looked at the fruit tea sitting on Wan Yi’s desk.
Wan Li: “Did you drink the fruit tea from the fridge?”
Wan Yi: “Yes, was it not one you just bought?”
Wan Li: “No, that was from yesterday.”
Wan Yi: “???”
“You kept yesterday’s tea in the fridge?”
Wan Li’s tone remained indifferent: “Oh, I wanted to see if it would cause an upset stomach if you drank it the next day.” He paused for a moment, observing his older brother’s state: “Looks like it does.”
Wan Yi said indignantly: “You really are something else!”
Seeing the two-stop bickering, Xu Qing handed the phone back to Wan Yi.
Wan Yi took the phone and scanned it briefly, not even looking at the results screen.
Wan Yi comforted him: “Thanks, man. If we lost, we lost, no big deal.”
When he handed the phone to Xu Qing, the match had been close to the 10-minute mark. In that game, he had been constantly targeted by the enemy jungler. Considering the opponents were the second-string team of a professional organization, losing was normal.
Xu Qing gave Wan Yi a strange look but did not say anything. He had helped out for over ten minutes, and since Boss Cai had not come looking for him, he did not want to stay too long. He said a quick goodbye to Wan Yi and headed downstairs.
Wan Yi plopped into his chair and said to Wan Li: “I am telling you, those pro teams are no joke. In that last match, I ran into the second-string team of ‘Thunder Mist,’ and the pressure was on another level.”
Wan Li, accustomed to his brother’s ramblings, basically let it go in one ear and out the other, only acknowledging every third sentence.
When he heard “Thunder Mist,” Wan Li, who had not been paying much attention, finally turned his gaze toward him.
“Thunder Mist” was a top-three powerhouse in the entire KOL league, having held the championship title for three consecutive years. Even their second-string team had the strength to rank in the top 16 of the league.
Seeing Wan Li look over, Wan Yi pulled out his black-screened phone again and held it up for Wan Li to see: “Let me show you the replay of the match.”
After all, it was not easy for a team like theirs to encounter a full professional squad. Reviewing the replay was a good way to improve.
Upon seeing the screen, the curious expression on Wan Li’s face turned indescribable. He looked at Wan Yi: “Are you sure this is ‘Thunder Mist’s’ second string? Not some random nobodies?”
Looking at the stats, Wan Li suspected his brother was showing off on purpose.
Wan Yi exclaimed: “Of course! I saw their pro verification tag when I queued in.”
Seeing Wan Li’s weird expression, even as a twin, he could not quite decipher what Wan Li was thinking: “What is with that look?”
Could it be that Xu Qing messed up his record even worse while he was downstairs? That was possible; after all, it was Thunder Mist’s second-string team.
Wan Yi tried to save face: “I was in the bathroom, remember? This record is not entirely my doing.”
Wan Li: “See for yourself.”
Wan Yi took back the phone, grumbling: “Fine, I will look. It is just a lost match…”
Before he could finish his sentence, his eyes widened in disbelief as he saw the record.
The screen clearly displayed the “VICTORY” interface.
The total kills were 22 to 13.
22 was his team’s score, and his hero Ahri alone accounted for 14 of those kills.
What on earth happened while he was in the bathroom?
Was he dreaming?
