2 – Good luck to you all
“Here!”
Ye Yuntong leaned over the short table, looking down at him from above. “Keep your mouth shut until we get off.”
Dong Qi obediently covered his mouth, even looking at her with a hint of fear.
Ye Yuntong was quite satisfied with this. Her beautiful eyelashes fluttered lightly, suppressing some of the restlessness in her eyes. She began teasing him, looking at his bare, shiny scalp. “Baldy! You’re young but already going bald—ever thought about why? Do you know why we’re the same age, yet you look old enough to be my grandpa?”
Dong Qi shook his head, still covering his mouth.
“That’s because I never meddle in other people’s business!”
Dong Qi: “…”
Dong Qi screamed inwardly, Big sis! Haven’t you meddled in plenty of other people’s business?!
And I look old because I overuse my brain!
Dong Qi was the “brain” of their organization. He started solving Olympiad math problems at three, taught himself the entire high school curriculum by five, earned a doctorate in dynamics by seven, and was brought into the Dawn Society at nine, officially becoming a member of the world’s most mysterious organization.
He had taken IQ tests before, scoring over 200, placing him among the top tier of high-intelligence individuals, second only to the great academic minds of the past. Many had high hopes for him, and he lived up to those expectations by developing many unique—though largely useless—patents.
He specialized in dynamics, constantly exploring the “first force of the universe” proposed by Einstein.
This also meant his entire life had been in a state of acceleration, which was clearly reflected in his appearance.
In his early twenties, his head was already bald.
Baldy!
That was the “nickname” Ye Yuntong had always given him.
Ye Yuntong stretched lazily and headed toward the restroom.
Another downside of the old green train was its poor restroom facilities. Ye Yuntong walked straight to the front, using the restroom in the highest-class soft sleeper carriage.
The restroom was occupied, so Ye Yuntong waited lazily outside.
There really weren’t many people on this train.
It was slow, stopped at many stations, and offered a poor travel experience. Similarly, it had been operating at a loss for years, and the railway department had considered canceling it several times, but it was ultimately kept running.
After all, it still served some people.
She leaned against the train wall, watching the scenery outside the window, a fierce glint slowly rising in her roguish eyes.
She had returned to investigate her mother’s death.
Back then, a natural disaster had seemed to leave no trace of human involvement, but as Ye Yuntong grew older, she found more and more oddities.
Why would her mother, from the wealthy and influential Ye family, take her out to sea alone?
Why did her father, Ye Wenshan, remarry so soon after his wife’s death, showing no sign of missing his late wife?
Why had her mother repeatedly warned her on her deathbed not to return to the Ye family and to live a peaceful life?
Some things really grew stranger the more she thought about them.
Ye Yuntong clenched both fists, pressing them against the corners of her mouth in a gesture of prayer.
May God grant you good luck.
I hope you had no part in this.
As she was lost in thought, the restroom door finally opened, and a man in casual shorts stepped out.
Even dressed casually, he couldn’t hide his masculine, spirited demeanor—tall and straight-backed, with sharp eyebrows and piercing eyes, his face radiating a sharpness like the edge of a blade.
A man of spirit and integrity.
His aura was quite distinctive, and Ye Yuntong grew alert, subtly sizing him up.
The shoes revealed a stretch of white socks with two stripes, one blue and one green.
ISAF personnel.
ISAF is an abbreviation, the full name being the Sixth International—a special armed organization alliance. They operate independently of any national government, without a country of origin. Their purpose is to maintain peace between nations and combat various stateless or transnational crimes.
They are essentially a group of international police, though their scope is narrower and more specialized than that. Ordinary incidents rarely draw their attention.
Very few people know of their existence.
The man glanced at Ye Yuntong, who had been waiting for a while, and feeling a bit apologetic for occupying the restroom for so long, he nodded to her.
Still a decent person.
