4 – Tong Jie’s Bad Temper
“Alright.”
With the promise secured, Xu Ying got out of the car, satisfied.
Inside the station, Dong Qi put on a wig and tied a tie over his polo shirt to make himself look younger and more proper, though there was nothing he could do about the slippers on his feet. Clad in slippers, he huffed and puffed as he hauled two large suitcases, clearing the way ahead. Behind him, Ye Yuntong walked with ease, carrying nothing.
There was no helping it—this one was the boss and had to be pampered!
“Are you sure you haven’t gotten lost?” Ye Yuntong watched Dong Qi pacing back and forth at the exit, unable to find his way out, and stopped in her tracks.
“Don’t rush…” Dong Qi set the suitcases down on the ground, adjusted his thick 5mm glasses, and took a good look at his surroundings. “Forget it, I’ll ask someone.”
His mind was entirely devoted to academics, leaving his self-care and life skills in shambles. Whenever he went out, he was hopelessly directionally challenged.
Dong Qi headed toward the nearest beverage shop. Most of the passengers had already left the station, leaving only a pretty girl in a white dress holding an umbrella standing in front of the shop. Dong Qi thought she looked approachable—she was the one!
“Miss, how do I get to the South Plaza?” Dong Qi asked, leaning over his suitcases.
Xu Ying thought the voice sounded like that of a young man. She turned around with a smile, only to see the disheveled and unkempt Dong Qi. After a quick glance at his outfit, which clearly marked him as a migrant worker who had just arrived in the city, her face immediately twisted with disgust.
She turned her head away, standing proudly at the counter as she waited for her drink, ignoring him.
“Miss? I just want to ask how to get to the South Plaza?”
Unwilling to give up, Dong Qi asked again. As he leaned in with his large face, a man in a black suit pushed him away.
“Get lost! How dare you ask our young lady for directions!”
Dong Qi, struggling to keep his balance while holding the heavy suitcases, was shoved by the man. His frail frame wobbled, and he nearly fell flat on his back.
He tried to steady himself with an awkward step, but before he could regain his balance, his wig tumbled off.
“Hahaha, he’s bald!” The bodyguard who had pushed him burst into laughter.
Hearing the commotion, Xu Ying glanced over and saw Dong Qi’s shiny bald head gleaming under the sunlight.
She, too, laughed.
But the next moment, a small hand steadied Dong Qi’s back, helping him regain his footing.
Under the brilliant sunlight, a tall, slender girl stepped out from behind Dong Qi.
In her twenties, she wore a plain white T-shirt and black cargo pants that looked like cheap streetwear, with no visible brand. Her short hair was neat, and her delicate face bore no makeup, yet it couldn’t hide her striking appearance.
She was exceptionally beautiful.
The corners of her eyes tilted upward, giving her an unintentionally alluring look, but her cold, sharp demeanor made it impossible for anyone to feel the slightest disrespect. She was like an untouchable flower on a high peak.
Even Xu Ying was stunned.
In City A, it was rare to see such a beautiful girl.
“Did he do it?” Ye Yuntong glanced at the bodyguard who had acted, her beautiful brows already filled with irritation.
Ye Yuntong had a short temper!
Dong Qi knew her well. He quickly grabbed her arm. “Tongtong, let it go. It’s a small matter. Let’s not cause trouble.”
“Exactly, you country bumpkins should leave now, or you’ll regret it later!” The bodyguard continued to mock.
As soon as he finished speaking, the quiet girl suddenly sprang into action. With a swift kick, she leaped into the air before anyone could react, landing a precise and powerful blow on the bodyguard who had pushed Dong Qi.
The bodyguard was clearly well-trained, instinctively dodging. After Ye Yuntong’s first kick missed, before he could even feel relieved, her second leg, already in mid-air, swung straight into his face.
