“Your Highness Luo! Are you hurt anywhere?”

Before Luo could finish agonizing over whether he would still be able to continue attending school after this incident, Ye Wen suddenly rushed toward him in a panic, his voice filled with anxiety as he carefully inspected Luo from head to toe.

Luo stood there blankly while Ye Wen grabbed both of his hands and examined them with utmost seriousness.Full novel: The Hatchling I Found Is an Evil God — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

In truth, compared to the disastrous state of the classroom, Luo himself could practically be considered completely unharmed.

At most, his face had been dirtied by the dust stirred up during the chaos, leaving him looking somewhat pitiful and disheveled yet the moment Ye Wen noticed the scraped skin on Luo’s hand, he immediately dropped to one knee before him.

“I sincerely apologize. I failed to take Your Highness’s condition into consideration before rashly using the standard teaching methods meant for ordinary male zerg. That negligence led to such severe consequences. Please accompany me to the infirmary for treatment. Afterward, I will personally submit a request to the principal asking for disciplinary demotion.”

“No…”

Luo had never expected Ye Wen to react so strongly. He hurriedly tried to explain himself.

“You didn’t teach me incorrectly. Luo was the one who failed to control the tentacles…”

Luo genuinely believed Ye Wen had done nothing wrong.

Ever since awakening, most of the time he had only been able to control his tentacles passively, relying entirely on instinct and emotional fluctuations but just now had been the very first time he truly sensed the terrifying power hidden within those tentacles.

Although it had resulted in a violent rampage, Luo could now feel with absolute clarity that he had finally begun to merge with them completely. At the very least, he could already attempt to consciously control the tentacles attached to his body.

“Beep beep! Beep beep beep!”

Before Luo could finish speaking, the sharp sound of an alarm suddenly rang out from Ye Wen’s wrist communicator.

Ye Wen hurriedly opened his terminal, all while still taking the time to reassure Luo.

“Please don’t be nervous, Your Highness Luo. This is only a communication request sent by the Male Protection Association. They likely witnessed what happened through the surveillance system and merely wish to confirm the current situation.”

After all, the rampaging tentacles from moments ago had directly destroyed the entire classroom, including the miniature cameras the Male Protection Association had painstakingly arranged inside.

The moment the words “Male Protection Association” were spoken, the previously bustling military females around them instantly retreated several large steps backward.

With Luo at the center, an empty circle quickly formed around him as everyone desperately tried to avoid appearing within the Association’s camera feed.

Better a fellow suffer than oneself. This matter involved the safety of an S class male zerg. Ye Wen could handle the wrath of the Male Protection Association alone.

Beep!

The communication connected.

Tan Geng’s face appeared on the holographic screen.

The moment he saw that Luo appeared entirely unharmed, Tan Geng seemed to let out a quiet breath of relief. Then, using his usual formal and businesslike tone, he spoke.

“Good day, Your Highness Luo. Earlier, the Male Protection Association observed through the surveillance system that your spiritual tentacles suddenly went berserk. Immediately afterward, all monitoring devices lost visual contact, causing us grave concern regarding your safety.”

“Now that we can see you are safe and unharmed, we are sincerely relieved. May we ask Your Highness to briefly explain the circumstances of what just occurred?”

The moment those words fell, Luo could clearly feel Ye Wen, who was still holding up the communicator beside him, go rigid with tension. His entire body straightened unconsciously, as though he were bracing himself for the punishment that would soon descend from the Male Protection Association.

Only then did Luo finally understand why Ye Wen had reacted so nervously earlier.

He had followed Ye Wen’s guidance step by step while exploring his abilities. Because of that, whether it was the later rampage that had nearly killed everyone present or Ye Wen’s decision to let the other military females escape first without prioritizing Luo himself, the Male Protection Association would hold Ye Wen accountable for all of it.

Deliberately harming a male zerg, especially a high ranking one like Luo, was considered an extremely grave crime under zerg law.

In lighter cases, the offender would be exiled to a barren wasteland planet. In severe cases, they would have their wings forcibly torn off alive before every last trace of female pheromones was extracted from their glands until they died.

At least, that was what all the zerg in the livestream comments had been saying.

Luo lowered his gaze, looking toward the pair of dirty fluffy slippers on the feet of this reliable yet occasionally absurd teacher and spoke softly.

“Oh, it’s nothing serious. I just suddenly had a new idea during class and wanted to experiment with something different. I accidentally caused my spiritual tentacles to go berserk, that’s all.”

He had never once considered himself a zerg.

Naturally, he would never acknowledge the twisted laws of the zerg race either.

The only rules Luo recognized were his own.

And right now, he believed Ye Wen had done nothing wrong.

Luo’s protection of him was so open and unapologetic that not only did Tan Geng freeze in shock on the other side of the video call, even Ye Wen himself stood there stunned.

It took Tan Geng quite a while before he finally found his voice again. Carefully choosing his words, he reminded him:

“Your Highness Luo, we were able to see the surveill, ”

“But the surveillance equipment was accidentally destroyed by me just now. You probably don’t have any recordings saved either, correct?”

After saying that, Luo tilted his head innocently.

“Or is the Male Protection Association planning to make me compensate you for the damaged cameras?”

“Of course not.”

Tan Geng hurriedly explained himself.

“Your Highness Luo, what I mean is- ”

“I don’t want to hear what you mean. What I mean right now is that I casually experimented with something and accidentally triggered a spiritual tentacle rampage. Do you understand?”

Luo didn’t give the other party any opportunity to continue speaking and cut him off directly.

Tan Geng replied awkwardly, “I understand but…”

Halfway through his sentence, he suddenly stopped speaking altogether. He lifted a hand to the earring attached to his earlobe, seemingly listening intently to something being transmitted through it.

It was the same kind of earring Bai Langdi had worn before. Judging from its appearance, it was likely a communication device distributed among the personnel of the Male Protection Association.

Tan Geng lowered his voice and quietly responded with several brief “Understood”s before finally looking back toward Luo again. Letting out a sigh, he said:

“Your Highness Luo, we understand your intentions now. We also will not pursue any responsibility against Ye Wen afterward, so please rest assured.”

Before Ye Wen beside him could even fully relax in relief, Tan Geng immediately continued.

“However, His Majesty the Insect Emperor has taken great interest in the ‘spiritual tentacle’ rampage you mentioned and wishes to establish a direct communication with you. May we ask whether that is acceptable?”

His Majesty the Insect Emperor? A direct communication with him now?

Luo’s eyes widened slightly.

Ever since hatching from his shell, he had heard countless zerg mention their “Insect Emperor.”

Charles, Ye Wen, even the zerg across the star network, all of them seemed to hold immense respect and reverence toward their emperor.

According to their accounts, the Insect Emperor was a legendary A rank male zerg.

Born into nobility yet rebellious and unconventional by nature, he had stubbornly insisted on enrolling in the Empire’s First Military Academy despite all opposition.

Throughout his military career, he achieved one glorious accomplishment after another, never losing to any military female.

In the end, he led the zerg race to conquer and expand across the stars, establishing the Empire upon this planet and allowing the zerg people to finally live in peace and prosperity.

Judging by the timeline, this Insect Emperor should already be over three hundred years old by now. Even among the long lived zerg race, that age would qualify him as an elderly old zerg nearing the twilight of his life.

Logically speaking, a legendary figure like that should have left behind countless historical records. At the very least, there should have been a few surviving photographs or archived materials.

But the strange thing was this:

Aside from these orally repeated “legends,” Luo could not find a single trace of information regarding this so called Insect Emperor anywhere.

Nothing on the star network.

Nothing in the libraries.

Even the Empire’s First Military Academy, the very institution that had supposedly nurtured the Insect Emperor himself, contained absolutely no records related to him whatsoever.

Whether it was his name, appearance or any other details, Luo had found nothing at all.

It could be said that aside from the universally known story everyone repeated, the entire zerg homeworld contained not even the slightest fragment of information regarding the Insect Emperor.

It was simply too strange.

Almost as though the Insect Emperor was merely a “story” rather than a real zerg who had truly existed.

But that still wasn’t the strangest part.

The truly horrifying thing was that the entire zerg race considered this bizarre situation perfectly normal.

or perhaps more accurately, none of them had even realized how deeply abnormal it all was.

Because of his memory loss and the fog surrounding his mysterious origins, Luo hadn’t paid much attention to this matter over the past few days. Deep down, he had always believed he was not truly one of the zerg, nor did he intend to remain among them forever.

But now, he had already decided to stay within zerg society for the time being.

And because of that, this sudden communication request from the Insect Emperor immediately after his spiritual tentacles went berserk became particularly thought provoking.

It felt like a test.

And also like a warning.

Luo lowered his eyes slightly and let out a faint laugh.

“I see.”

He spoke calmly.

“Then connect the communication. Luo is also quite curious about what His Majesty the Insect Emperor looks like.”

What kind of pretentious thing was hiding behind all this mystery, daring to put on airs in front of him?

He truly wanted to see for himself exactly what sort of being this bizarre emperor of the zerg race really was.
