“Creak—”

The door swung open.

An old man with a white beard came out, grumbling and cursing: “In the middle of the night, can’t you let people sleep!”Full novel: The Infinite Flow BOSS Drops the Act and Kisses the Player — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

After getting a clear look at the visitor, a greedy glint flashed in the old man’s eyes.

Wen Shi’s small clinic was the only F Rank Instance on Happiness Street, coveted by countless Aberrations who wanted to claim it for themselves.

It wasn’t as if no one had tried to seize it by force.

It’s just that those who did were all cleaned up by the Specter patients inside the clinic.

Wen Shi usually never went out, holed up in that tortoise shell of a clinic, leaving the drooling Specters with desire but no means to act.

Now that he had come out on his own to deliver himself to death, they couldn’t be blamed.

Killing Wen Shi would allow them to take possession of the clinic.

“Dr. Wen.” The old man glanced around but didn’t see his cross-dressing son. He spat: “That bastard, who knows where he’s gone off to seduce someone again.”

He paused and asked: “Dr. Wen, have you seen my son?”

Wen Shi replied obediently: “I killed him.”

The old man acted as if he had heard a joke, leaning against the door and laughing so hard he couldn’t straighten up.

A mere Minor Boss from an F Rank Instance had the audacity to claim he had killed his A-grade ability son—it was enough to make one laugh their teeth out.

“Dr. Wen, old man here knows your medical skills are impressive, but I didn’t expect your boasting skills to be just as remarkable.” The old man took a deep breath—the Dungeon Boss of an F Rank Instance was simply irresistible: “Please, come in.”

Meat delivered right to the doorstep—it would be a waste not to eat it.

The starving old man swallowed hard, his intestines churning and gurgling, urging him to kill Wen Shi immediately and enjoy a feast.

Even before stepping inside, Wen Shi caught a whiff of a strong, pungent smell of blood.

The temperature inside the house was frighteningly low, as if he had stepped into a refrigerator, making Wen Shi’s teeth chatter.

The light overhead seemed to be broken, flickering on and off.

The floor and walls were stained with blood, and dark red blood seeped from cracks in the walls.

On the table lay half-gnawed human bones, with several pairs of eyeballs openly displayed on the surface. From the kitchen came the clanging sound of chopping meat.

The blade scraping against bone produced a grating, teeth-setting sound.

“Who is it?” The old woman chopping meat in the kitchen poked out a head as large as a washbasin upon hearing the noise, her mouth stretching wide into a smile that revealed sharp, saw-like teeth: “Oh, it’s you, Dr. Wen.”

Wen Shi halted his steps and immediately took a step back.

It wasn’t that he was afraid.

But something wasn’t right.

Wen Shi was certain that the Specters invading the clinic had all come from the neighbor’s house.

The pair of 【Core Benevolence】 elders before him were only slightly stronger than their son.

He wanted to step back and check if he had knocked on the wrong door.

“Thump!”

The old man patted Wen Shi on the shoulder, holding back the one who had come seeking death: “Didn’t Dr. Wen come to deliver warmth? The warmth hasn’t been delivered yet—where are you going?”

“I did come to deliver warmth, but…” Wen Shi paused: “I might have knocked on the wrong door.”

This house looked exactly the same as the neighbor’s before she died.

After her death, her power vanished, and the house might have undergone changes.

Wen Shi’s step back was interpreted by the old man as him realizing the danger and becoming afraid, making it even less likely for them to give up the chance to kill Wen Shi and seize the clinic.

“Get in here, you!” The old man, his face full of excitement, dragged Wen Shi into the house and kicked the door shut:

“Since you’re already here, you think you can just leave? Old woman, what are you standing around for? Hurry up and get over here!”

The two quickly surrounded Wen Shi.

One held a blood-stained axe, the other a fruit knife, their gazes venomous and greedy.

“Neighbors, seeing each other so often, isn’t this a bit much?” Wen Shi pulled out his scalpel, holding the neighbor’s head in one hand.

If not for them.

Wen Shi would have had to look elsewhere.

“Since you’re here, make yourself comfortable.” The old man’s swallowing sound was particularly clear in the quiet room: “Doctor Wen, after you die, we’ll take good care of your clinic for you.”

Killing Wen Shi to inherit his assets—they would obtain a large group of exceptionally powerful Aberrations, imagining how joyful that would be.

Kind words can’t persuade those determined to court death.

Wen Shi: “In that case, hurry up. I’m pressed for time.”

“Doctor Wen is in a rush to be reborn, old woman, let’s hurry!”

The couple were A+ rank Specters.

Wen Shi didn’t even consider them worth his attention.

The old man’s fruit knife and the old woman’s axe fell together.

Wen Shi kicked the old man two meters away, swiftly closed in, and cleanly plunged the scalpel into his throat—a swift, decisive motion.

Blood splattered onto his refined, handsome face, adding a chilling coldness.

The old woman holding the axe stared blankly at Wen Shi, stunned.

A nobody from an F Rank Instance had actually killed an A+ rank Specter in mere seconds.

Unreasonable!

“Doc… Doctor Wen, weren’t you here to bring warmth?”

The old woman stared fixedly at the unfathomable Wen Shi, realizing for the first time that the gentle, polite doctor was secretly a cold-blooded, murderous madman.

Her face turned deathly pale, her legs gave way, and she knelt directly.

Had they known Wen Shi was not to be trifled with, they would never have coveted the clinic.

It was all that damned old man’s fault!

Wen Shi had clearly already left, but he insisted on dragging him back.

The old woman was filled with regret, wishing she could turn back time and slap herself hard.

“Hmm.” Wen Shi leisurely unbuttoned his cuffs and tossed the package in his hand before the old woman: “Open it and see.”

A bone-chilling cold rushed to her head.

Trembling, the old woman opened the package, and the head of the house’s former owner crashed into her sight.

Her pupils dilated and contracted violently, filled with terror, her mind severely shaken, mouth agape, unable to utter a single word.

She had seen this Specter before!

The house’s former owner was an SS-Class Vengeful Specter, utterly murderous, fierce, and brutal—the strongest on the entire Happy Street.

When the old woman encountered her, she could only tuck her tail and flee with her head down.

And she had been so easily killed by Wen Shi!

This was no warmth.

It was a death warrant.

Cruel, insane, pathological—Wen Shi possessed all the traits of a serial killer: cold, cunning, dangerous, yet cloaked in a gentle, hypocritical facade that had deceived everyone.

“I can’t help but feel you’re cursing me with your eyes.”

Wen Shi asked with a smile.

He remained courteous, gentle, and benevolent.

But to the old woman, his voice sounded like a devil’s low growl at its prey—extremely dangerous.

“Doctor Wen, savior of the suffering, please spare me.” The old woman knelt and begged for mercy, appearing pitiful and helpless:

“I’m just a useless old woman. It wasn’t me who coveted the clinic—it was all the old man’s doing, him!”

The old woman looked toward the old man’s corpse, her eyes bulging, bloodshot, witnessing something she never dared imagine in her lifetime.

The old man had turned into Blood Mist!

In Divine Descent, Specters generally have fixed Instances; after death, they revive when the Instance resets.

But if a Specter turns into Blood Mist, they die permanently.

The old woman suddenly understood.

Those Aberrations disguised as patients to raid the clinic did not die at the hands of the clinic’s patients.

They all died by Wen Shi’s hand.

The strength of the Dungeon Boss determines the Instance’s grade.

Wen Shi is definitely not F-grade.
