What kind of monster had she provoked?

The old woman regretted it deeply.

“Dr. Wen, aren’t you hiring staff?” The old woman, quick-witted in desperation, knelt and begged for her life. “I see you’re short of a cleaning lady. I’m willing to work for you for free.”Full novel: The Infinite Flow BOSS Drops the Act and Kisses the Player — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Wen Shi shook his head. “Sorry, you’re too weak.”

“Dr. Wen, when will the cycle of revenge ever end…” Before the old woman could finish her sentence, she had already collapsed into a pool of blood, turning into Blood Mist.

When will the cycle of revenge ever end? Uproot the weeds, and there will be no more troubles.

Wen Shi was not a kind-hearted person.

Indecision invites disaster.

After the couple turned into Blood Mist, the flickering lights finally stabilized and brightened.

After a moment’s thought, Wen Shi plunged the Scalpel into the neighbor’s skull, turning him into Blood Mist and making him vanish completely.

“This shouldn’t be happening.” Wen Shi explored the house.

It was a single-story detached house with three bedrooms and a living room—a very ordinary layout with nothing remarkable about it.

“Strange, none of the three rooms have doors.” Wen Shi quickly walked through the three rooms and finally stopped in front of a large crimson door.

It was a wooden Revolving Door, similar to those found in hotels, with three panels.

The moment Wen Shi reached out to touch the door, a cold, damp, stinging sensation surged through his body like an electric current. Stumbling, he found himself at the back door.

“Pushing the door open from the inside is fine.” Wen Shi wiped the sticky blood from his hand. “Let’s try pushing it from the outside.”

With that push,

Wen Shi’s vision blurred.

The moment he opened his eyes, he found himself on the north side of the clinic.

Right next to the hole that hadn’t been sealed in time.

“No wonder that family was so weak. They must have entered through the front door by chance.

But the Ghostly Creature that invaded the clinic came in through the back door.

That’s why an A-grade Ghost Monster occupied the house while the S-grade Ghost Monster turned a blind eye.”

With the mystery solved, the top priority was to close that Revolving Door.

Passing through the hole again, Wen Shi stepped directly into the neighbor’s house.

He sensed something was wrong.

Turning around to look,

he realized the clinic had merged with this place!

“Oh no.” Wen Shi rushed into the house in a few quick strides, scanning his surroundings.

The three-bedroom, one-living-room layout had transformed into the appearance of the clinic.

After killing the family of three who had occupied the house, Wen Shi naturally became its owner, and it had changed accordingly.

He quickly located the crimson Revolving Door and pushed it open.

Wen Shi took out a blood-stained Scalpel and forcefully drove it into the outer door.

Instantly, the blood seeping from the outermost Revolving Door looked as if it had been stabbed.

“This is one of the Scalpels I’ve used the longest.” Wen Shi gave the Revolving Door a push.

Seeing it remain still, the anxiety in Wen Shi’s throat finally settled. “It should hold for the remaining six…”

He raised his hand to check his watch.

Midnight had already passed.

“It should hold for five days.”

Countless Specters had died under this Scalpel.

Each death left behind a trace of blood.

The most effective weapons against Specters were items tainted with Yin Energy.

The heavier the Yin Energy, the stronger the ghostly power.

The Scalpel was Wen Shi’s Suppressing Artifact to seal the Revolving Door.

Any Specter below S-Class would die upon touching it.

Any above S-Class trying to force open the Arbitrary Door would either die or be severely crippled.

With the door temporarily locked by Wen Shi, neither the front nor back door could be opened. He made his way back to the clinic with practiced ease.

Twisting open the back door,

Wen Shi ran straight into Xu Jie.

“Are you on duty tonight?”

Before Wen Shi could respond, he was suddenly pulled into Xu Jie’s embrace.

“Pfft—”

Xu Jie’s short blade plunged into the heart of the ghostly creature behind him, but he himself suffered a severe back injury while shielding Wen Shi from the attack.

The Aberration dissolved into white mist and vanished.

Wen Shi was momentarily stunned, his dark, nearly blue eyes widening in surprise. It took him a while to regain his composure, and a wave of emotion washed over him.

Xu Jie had always seemed so unreliable that Wen Shi had dismissed his words as empty talk. He never expected the man to be serious.

A faint smile touched Wen Shi’s lips, his mood lifting.

Having lived for so long, this was the first time he had ever felt genuine sincerity.

Wen Shi hadn’t even noticed the foul thing following him home.

Fortunately, Xu Jie had reacted quickly enough.

Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

Even if Wen Shi could have avoided a fatal blow, he would have inevitably suffered serious injuries.

“You’re badly hurt. Let me take you to get some medicine.”

Wen Shi draped Xu Jie’s arm over his shoulder and wrapped his other arm around the man’s strong, firm waist, guiding him toward the infirmary.

“Ah, it hurts so much! Wen Shi, did I injure my kidney? A man with a bad kidney won’t find anyone to marry him. What will I do if I can’t get a wife?”

Xu Jie leaned most of his weight on Wen Shi, exaggerating his pain to gain sympathy.

Wen Shi retorted impatiently, “You injured your back, not your kidney.”

Xu Jie murmured wistfully, “If only it were my kidney.”

Then he could cling to Wen Shi forever.

He was willing to marry Wen Shi, even if Wen Shi wasn’t willing.

Wen Shi: “…”

Once they reached the infirmary, Wen Shi tended to Xu Jie’s wound, causing the man to yelp in pain.

“Is it really that painful?” Wen Shi glanced at the disinfectant in his hand. “I’m using iodine, not alcohol.”

Xu Jie was sweating profusely from the pain. “Blow on it for me, please.”

Seeing how much he was suffering, Wen Shi lowered his head and gently blew on the wound.

The warm breath brushed against Xu Jie’s skin, sending a tingling sensation straight to his heart. His breathing grew ragged, and his heartbeat quickened involuntarily.

Being so close, Xu Jie could catch the faint, pleasant scent on Wen Shi.

He couldn’t quite place the fragrance, but it was delightful, something he wanted to keep inhaling forever.

Xu Jie tilted his head to look at Wen Shi’s slightly flushed earlobe and noticed a cute little mole there.

“Ahem, stop staring,” Wen Shi cleared his throat softly as he finished bandaging Xu Jie’s wound. “There’s nothing special to see.”

They were both men; whatever Wen Shi had, Xu Jie had too.

Xu Jie praised earnestly, “How does that old poem go? ‘Graceful as a startled swan, supple as a swimming dragon.’ Wen Shi, you’re truly beautiful. I really, really like you.”

“Thank you for your affection,” Wen Shi replied sincerely, his mood still uplifted.

Xu Jie grew animated, enthusiastically listing all the benefits of liking him.

The handsome man chattered away cheerfully.

The gentle man listened with a smile in his eyes.

Wen Shi escorted Xu Jie back to Room 208 and turned to leave. Since he was on duty, he intended to see it through.

“Wen Shi, don’t go. Nothing will happen in the latter half of the night,” Xu Jie insisted, having already dealt with all the troublesome patients by beating them up. “Get some rest.”

Duty had merely been Wen Shi’s excuse to go next door. With nurses on watch for the rest of the night, no major issues would arise.

After washing up, Wen Shi lay down on the bed. He glanced at Xu Jie, who was sitting on a chair with his eyes closed, then shifted inward, leaving half the bed empty. “You’re injured. I’ll share the bed with you.”

Xu Jie, who had already made himself at home, washed up thoroughly and climbed into bed.

“Wen Shi, Wen Shi, smell me. What scent do I have?” Xu Jie nudged his head closer to Wen Shi.

Wen Shi sighed helplessly. “The smell of shower gel.”

Xu Jie: “Wrong, it’s the sour stench of impending romance!”

Wen Shi: “…” You’re way too confident.

A good night’s sleep.

The next day, when Wen Shi woke up and tried to get out of bed, he realized Xu Jie had wrapped him in the blanket and was holding him.

He was about to speak.

Suddenly, he saw a row of bloody words appear on the window.
