Wen Shi wiped the blood from his face, took off the blood-stained white coat, and threw it into the trash can, revealing a stylish black suit. With broad shoulders and a narrow waist, he looked refined and handsome, exuding an air of ascetic restraint.
“Bang—”
The glass door of the clinic was violently kicked open, shattering into pieces all over the floor.
Wen Shi tightened his grip on the scalpel, his body tense. Today, either he would die, or the Divine Official would.
However, the person who entered was the man smoking outside, not the golden-glowing Divine Official from the Crimson Mist.
“Player?” The man sized up Wen Shi with a glance. “What’s your name?”
Wen Shi’s features were exquisitely handsome, his expression gentle. His overly pale complexion and unsteady gait led Gu Hua to label him as a weakling, feeling nothing but disdain.
Wen Shi looked outside, but the Divine Official had vanished. “Zhang San, the Lawless Outlaw.”
“And I’m Li Si, the Balding Bachelor,” Gu Hua retorted, walking inside as he spoke:
“An F-grade trash NPC actually has a clinic comparable to a small hospital, fully equipped.
If it weren’t for needing all eight players to activate the instance,
I’d have already found the NPC, blasted him to bits, slaughtered the Boss, and bulldozed through the instance.”
There are two ways to leave an instance.
The honest, story-driven way: complete tasks.
The simple, brute-force way: slaughter the Boss.
The former, if hidden tasks are triggered, can yield a large amount of Points.
The latter offers no Points, and when killing the Dungeon Boss, the Boss’s power multiplies, making it easy for the entire team to be wiped out.
“Simple? Bulldoze through?” Wen Shi chuckled lightly. “You’re too confident.”
Gu Hua had seen it all. He sneered:
“As everyone knows, F Rank Instances are just training grounds for newcomers.
The Dungeon Boss is as weak as a dog. I could torment him like tormenting my own son.”
The Specters in an F Rank Instance are at most F-grade. For an experienced Player like him with various Artifacts, they’re nothing.
Gu Hua barged straight into the clinic. “The doctor was just here. Where did he go now?”
To catch the ringleader, first capture the doctor, then work on raising favorability.
One by one, the doors to the wards were opened. Wen Shi followed behind him, adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses, and a cold gleam gathered in his eyes.
The last ward door was opened.
“Shit!” Gu Hua rushed in but ran back out within three seconds, his face deathly pale. “How could an S Rank Anomaly appear in an F Rank Instance?”
Seeing the unfamiliar Aberration rushing out, Wen Shi was taken aback.
This wasn’t his patient.
Gu Hua had been disrespectful, so Wen Shi planned to let him walk to the deepest part, then withdraw the suppression on his patient, allowing the patient to act freely.
A bone-chilling cold swept through his entire body.
A shriveled, thin child rushed out from the doorway, dragging Gu Hua inside.
“Ah!” Crimson blood gushed out from the crack of the door.
A few seconds later, the door opened, and Gu Hua, with a pen stabbed into his eye, stumbled out, then kicked Wen Shi into the doorway.
“Every man for himself, or heaven will punish you,” Gu Hua gasped heavily as he slumped to the floor.
“An S-grade Ghost Monster won’t stop until it kills someone. Meeting me is your bad luck.”
Wen Shi staggered into the room.
A strong smell of blood filled his nostrils, and a piercingly cold, ghostly wind seeped into his body, almost freezing his blood.
“Big brother, help me… help me up…”
A child with a deformed, ugly face lay in a pool of blood, seemingly severely injured.
He gasped heavily, his eyes fixed intently on Wen Shi.
Those greedy, malicious eyes were practically itching to tear off that young, handsome skin and drape it over themselves, to give themselves a beautiful new appearance.
If it weren’t for seeing Gu Hua, that burly man, fleeing in panic and helplessness, Wen Shi would have thought the child was the victim.
“Alright.”
Watching Wen Shi approach, the child’s malicious gaze erupted with intense hostility, forcing a fake smile: “Thank you, big brother. Big brother, you’re a good person.”
Good people don’t live long.
Wen Shi took a step forward, pulled out the scalpel, held it against the child’s neck, and stabbed it straight in.
“Is he really an S Rank Anomaly?” Wen Shi felt the S Rank Monster was undeserving of its name, not even comparable to his patients.
The cold scalpel was stained with blood, a gruesome crimson.
The Aberration’s corpse evaporated into blood mist, drifting out the window and merging with the blood mist outside the clinic.
This was the innermost ward of the clinic, with a main door and a side door.
Opening the side door led through a narrow corridor to the female neighbor’s house.
The originally white side door was now stained blood red and slightly ajar. This Ghostly Creature had come from the neighbor’s side.
The neighbor was already dead. With no powerful Aberration inside to intimidate, the creatures within would invade the clinic and disrupt order.
Wen Shi was about to go check.
“Bang—”
The main door was slammed open. Gu Hua, who had been hiding outside, stared dumbfounded at the monster that had turned into blood mist: “How is this possible! How did you do that?!”
Wen Shi wasn’t dead!
He had even killed an S Rank Anomaly!
“Just a small Specter. Is it that difficult?” Wen Shi closed the side door under Gu Hua’s astonished gaze.
Leaving the ward, Wen Shi softly snapped his fingers.
The main door slammed shut.
Three seconds later.
“Didn’t that Aberration die? Where did this one come from… Boss, open the door! I was wrong, save me! I’ll kowtow and apologize!”
Gu Hua’s shrill screams came from inside the door.
Wen Shi wasn’t some soft persimmon to be squeezed and kneaded at will.
He just let his patient play with Gu Hua for a while.
His patient was very weak.
If Gu Hua couldn’t survive, what could be done about it?
Tough luck for him.
Returning to the clinic, Wen Shi found six new Players inside the small clinic.
A Little Red Riding Hood wearing a red cloak, a rabbit, a handsome man in Taoist robes, a young punk with dyed yellow hair, a college student, and a girl dressed in sexy, fashionable clothes.
He had just arrived.
Gu Hua came stumbling out right after, covered in blood. Three fingers on his left hand were severed, and he looked as pitiful and wretched as if he’d been fished out of a pool of blood.
One Player exclaimed in surprise, “How did an F Rank Instance for idiots turn bloody?”
F Rank Instances were the only ones in [Divine Descent] where no one died.
For battle-hardened veteran Players, clearing such an Instance was as easy as using a nuclear bomb to kill a mosquito.
“Someone’s incompetent, that’s how.”
“Seriously? An F Rank Instance where you can just choose a Strategy of family, friendship, or love to easily get past the Boss, and you still get hurt like this? Tsk, useless.”
“Maybe there’s more to it here.”
“Come on, ‘more to it’? Don’t try to elevate an NPC who isn’t even qualified to be called a Dungeon Boss. It’s just F Rank trash.”
Gu Hua sneered silently. A bunch of idiots. You’ll have a rough seven days.
After this incident, Gu Hua realized this Instance wasn’t simple.
He glared venomously at Wen Shi, his eyes as if poisoned, wishing he could slice the other to pieces.
Wen Shi’s penetrating gaze fell upon Gu Hua. He hadn’t expected the other party to be injured like this by his own frail and helpless patient.
He didn’t care about the players’ love or hatred—they were all going to die anyway.
At that moment, the sound of footsteps approached.
Wen Shi looked toward the door.
In the darkness, a golden light shone so brightly it was blinding, like a burning candle illuminating the entire night.
Wen Shi’s pupils contracted—the Divine Official had arrived.
The man stood around 190 centimeters tall, with a cold and stern face. His eyebrows arched upward, and when he smiled, there was a hint of roguishness. He appeared casual, yet gave Wen Shi an extremely dangerous feeling.
“Well, so many people here. What are you discussing? Tell me, I promise I won’t beat you to death.”
Everyone’s gaze fell on the man’s white coat, still dripping with blood.
Wen Shi glanced at the ID badge clipped to the man’s pocket:
Name: Xu Jie.
Position: Chief Physician.
“Who are you?” Wen Shi’s heart rose to his throat, ready to retaliate at any moment.
Xu Jie’s deep-set eyes revealed a smile as he looked at the refined and handsome Wen Shi. “Can’t you tell? I’m the doctor of this clinic.”
Wen Shi: “…”
If you’re the doctor of this clinic, then who am I?
