The tall building swallowed numerous people as they walked into it.

She felt like so light and warm.

After so many years of getting ignored by her family and former pack, she was finally noticed by someone.

She would do her best to make them proud.

As soon as she entered, her co-workers greeted her.

Dr.

Henry had a smile on his face as he approached her.

“Your formula is outstanding.

Everyone wants to meet this mysterious woman.”

She heaved a sigh.

“I just hope that I don’t disappoint them.”

“You won’t, you’ve done too much to disappoint anyone.”

Dr.

Henry led her Isla towards the laboratory.

Someone was staring at the interaction from behind with a huge scowl on her face.

Isla’s step sister, Hilda.

What in the world was the bitch doing here?

Hilda thought in anger.

Alpha Reid had slept with her and gotten rid of her like trash.

Every reputable Alpha stayed clear off her as if she were some plague.

No one wanted her.

These weeks that have passed have been the worst in her life.

She has been struggling to survive.

As a last resort she forged some documents so that she could get a job in this institution.

It was a junior role under administration, a role way below her standards but she has to manage.

The sight of Isla looking so graceful, beautiful and radiant irked her to no end.

“I hate her!” She muttered through gritted teeth.

Isla was pregnant with a powerful Alpha’s pup and seemed to be doing very well.

She quickened her steps and walked up to Isla.

“Well, well well, what a suprise.” Hilda said with mock sweetness.

Isla’s breath hitched at the sound of Hilda’s voice.

Isla’s face turned as cold as ice.

“Not a pleasant surprise.”

Hilda’s gaze fell on Isla’s protruding belly.

“Sad to see that you have to work while pregnant to survive.”

Her words drewhtge attention of other workers close by.

“It must be so hard to survive in a state like this.”

“It isn’t.” Isla answered simply.

“Seeing that your pup’s father wants nothing to do with you because you’re such a loser.” Hilda sported a smirk on her face.

“Funny how you seem so interested in the life of a loser.” Isla folded her arms on her chest.

Hilda’s looked irritated.

How dare this little thing talk to her?

Whispers filled the room and made them both pay attention towards the elevator.

The director of the research institute has just come to this floor.

Hilda straightened her back and wore the usual sweet smile on her face.

She was certain that he was here to see someone relevant.

To her uttermost surprise he walked past her and made a beeline for Isla.

He behaved as if no one was standing right next to Isla.

“Welcome to our work family, Miss Isla.”

Isla smiled brightly.

“Thank you, Sir.”

“We made a perfect lab just for you.

So many researchers want to work with you, young lady.

This is such an honour to finally meet you in person.”

Hilda’s head spinned a 360.

Honoured?

How could the director be honoured to meet her measley sister.

Hilda’s blood boiled.

No one noticed her existence.

She was like thin air, completely unseen.

Isla followed the director to the elevator and they headed to the top most floor, where senior workers were.

Hilda walked as fast as she could to her desk. You are reading on g.com, the official source.

She silently prayed that she wouldn’t need to hear about her step sister again.

Unfortunately for her, things didn’t go the way she wanted.

Everyone was going haywire about the new hire, Isla.

The doctor’s kept asking about Isla’s thoughts on things.

The researchers all wanted to work with her and asked for her opinion.

Everyone was in awe of Isla’s formula.

Hilda was already green with envy by evening.

She couldn’t take it anymore.

A wicked thought came to her mind.

Closing time soon reached and the office building was already getting empty.

Hilda hid in the walls close to the staircase that led out.

Isla was alone and had her phone in hand.

She wasn’t paying mind to her surroundings and was trying to dial the number of the driver Logan had given.

Before she could blink a hand shoved her hard from the top of the staircase.

Her phone fell, she tired to grip something but she slipped.

“My baby!” She gasped and used her arm to cover her belly from the impact but it was too late.

She hit her stomach hard against the staircase, repeatedly.

A pained scream tore through Isla’s throat.

Employees rushed towards the noise and they looked horrified at an unconscious Isla covered in blood.

“Call and ambulance!” Someone screamed and in the midst of the commotion Hilda disappeared.

Did she go to far?

Hilda thought but she quickly dismissed the thought.

Isla deserved it for taking everything she wanted from her.

Logan’s phone rang and he picked up on the second ring.

“Hello.”

“Sir, your wife was involved in an accident and has been rushed to the hospital.”

“Which one?” His eyes shone gold and his wolf reared forward.

His mate, and pup are hurting.

The person told him and and needed the call.

If anyone dared to have a hand in this, they will surely pay.

They won’t be spared from his wrath.
