The Spark

Lang Zhan didn’t quite understand his excitement.

Could it be that the White Cat Tribe lives by fishing? In the Wolf Tribe, only the disabled and elderly beastmen and females catch this kind of fish.

Although the tribe provides them with some food, it’s not enough to fill their stomachs so they always find other things to eat.

“Oh,” Bai Lou didn’t seem to care about what he said, continuing to enthusiastically search for fish by the river.

Seeing how much he liked it, Lang Zhan thought for a moment and got up to walk into the river. The river wasn’t big, only three or four meters wide, and the water level was below his knees.

“Zhan, what are you doing?” Bai Lou asked.

“Didn’t you want fish?” Lang Zhan stopped, looking at Bai Lou with a puzzled expression.

Bai Lou paused, his clear cat-like eyes curving slightly, and his icy blue eyes filled with laughter, looking even more radiant than the river water under the sunlight.

“Not yet, we have enough meat. We’ll catch more when we need it.” He felt it was more important to prepare seasonings and vegetables than to catch fish.

Without seasonings, catching fish would be a waste as it would be difficult to remove the fishy smell. Other cats might not care, but he didn’t like it.

As for vegetables, as a cat, he didn’t have a particular fondness for them, but after eating them for so many years, he was used to them. Everyone said people should eat more vegetables and fruits, and a balanced diet was healthy, so they could be good side dishes to enrich the flavor.

Lang Zhan was momentarily stunned by that smile, then nodded and turned back. There was indeed no need to catch them if they weren’t going to eat them. Beastmen didn’t have the habit of wasting food or hunting for fun.

After soaking the blood and foam out of the meat, Bai Lou washed it again, and the two carried the stone basin home.

As soon as they entered the courtyard, they saw the little wolf cub squatting at the entrance of the large stone house. The wolf cub’s eyes lit up when it saw Lang Zhan, its little tail wagged, and it trotted over.

Halfway there, Lang Tu saw Bai Lou behind Lang Zhan and stopped, its little black eyes looking at him curiously.

“Woof woof~” Brother, who is this?

Bai Lou waved at it and grinned, “Hi, I’m your brother Bai Lou.”

“Woof?” Brother Bai Lou?

Lang Tu was a little surprised. The white cat from yesterday? Its tail wagged again, and it thought shyly, “So beautiful, even more beautiful than the females in the tribe.”

Bai Lou washed the wooden skewers in the kitchen with water and began skewering meat.

Lang Zhan washed his hands, took a torch from the corner, and said to Bai Lou and Tu, “I’ll go get a fire. You two wait at home.”

The wolf and the human looked up at him, obediently replying, “Woof~” “Okay.”

Lang Zhan’s breath hitched. He had only casually told Bai Lou about his itinerary and that he mainly wanted Lang Tu to stay behind. It was still too small and walked slowly, which would waste time.

But at that moment, something tingled in his left chest. Lang Zhan couldn’t describe the feeling, and a fleeting softening appeared in his usually cold and sharp, narrow eyes.

“Where is Lang Zhan going to get fire?” Hearing footsteps approaching from outside the gate, Bai Lou looked curiously at the little wolf cub crouching beside him.

The little wolf cub let out a soft “woof.”

“Grandpa Priest’s place, there’s a fire in a big house.”

“So troublesome?” Bai Lou muttered to himself.

“Where did that fire come from?” He couldn’t very well pull out a lighter. If the tribe had something that could produce fire, he could think of another way.

The little wolf cub tilted its head, seemingly puzzled by his question.

“Woof!” A gift from the Beast God!

Bai Lou: ……

Never mind, forget I asked.
