“About what happened yesterday, Uncle will surely give you an explanation. Wanwan, Miao Miao is still your older sister… help her out, won’t you? Do you really want to just watch her get dragged off to the police station?”

Shen Wan gave a wry smile. Was he doing this for Shen Miao or just worried about losing money in the future?

But the clinic’s reputation was built entirely by her own effort; she couldn’t let Shen Miao really ruin it.Full novel: The lady was extremely difficult to please. — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Shen Wan stopped in her tracks, her harmless-looking face sweetly calling out to Shen Mingyuan, “Uncle, it’s understandable for my sister to feel jealous that I might marry the governor, but yesterday she actually came into my room to steal things she really scared me!

If I don’t report this, Uncle, have you thought about what would happen if the governor found out?”

Right now, her only trump card was Yan Xiao.

Using Yan Xiao to control them? That was easy.

She turned to the burly man. “Big brother, if you trust me, sit down in the clinic. Take off your coat and I’ll take a look at you.”

The man’s expression grew impatient. “I don’t trust you anymore! You’re just trying to cheat me for money. What if I take another pile of medicine from you and it still doesn’t work?”

Shen Wan said calmly, “You don’t have to take the medicine. Just sit for a while it won’t take long. If it doesn’t work, you can go ahead and smash the shop again.”

Reluctantly, he hesitated but curiosity got the better of him. Could sitting for a while really have an effect? He wanted to see if Shen Wan was truly as skilled as the rumors claimed, so he sat down angrily.

Shen Wan gently took his wrist and felt his pulse.

After a moment, she looked up. “Big brother, do your hands go numb often? Are your limbs cold? These are classic symptoms of spinal disease. The condition comes from long-term strain and labor; it’s not something that can be cured overnight.”

The man’s face showed a flicker of panic, but he stubbornly argued, “You’re lying! I don’t have these problems!”

Shen Wan didn’t waste words. She took a silver needle from her medical kit, disinfected it, and precisely inserted it into a point on his neck.

As the needle went in, the man trembled. Just as he was about to lash out, a warm current surged through his neck. His previously numb and cold limbs gradually warmed, and the hand numbness was significantly relieved.

Shen Miao grabbed Shen Mingyuan’s arm. “Father, see? Shen Wan even admitted it’s spinal disease!”

Shen Mingyuan shook off Shen Miao sharply. “Shh! Don’t distract Wanwan while she’s inserting the needle!”

Once Shen Wan removed the needle, she said, “There, all done.”

The man put on his coat. His symptoms were indeed much better. He looked around the clinic, and ironically, the mess he had made was still there…

“Th…thank you, Miss Shen.”

Shen Wan waved him off. “It’s nothing. Go home and don’t stay in the same posture for too long. If you feel discomfort again, come to the clinic and have one of the assistants give you treatment.”

After sending the troublemaker away, Shen Wan’s gaze flicked to Shen Mingyuan behind her.

“Wanwan…”

Shen Wan cut him off. “Uncle, don’t forget what you promised me earlier.”

He knew exactly what result she wanted.

Shen Miao shouted at her, “Stop stirring trouble! Father loves me most he wouldn’t get mad at me because of you!”

“That’s enough! Tired of you bullying Wanwan every day, thinking I don’t notice? Go home. For the next month, no pocket money, and you’re not allowed to go anywhere.”

Just one month? That’s a little light.

But it was exactly what Shen Wan expected Shen Mingyuan wouldn’t punish her daughter too severely. This was just a way to give Shen Miao a face-saving excuse so she wouldn’t push further.

Shen Wan hadn’t eaten all morning and felt her head growing dizzy from hunger.

She bought two steamed buns on the street and ate while heading toward the outskirts of the city.

The Zhou family’s old residence was in the suburbs, and now the only people she could rely on were herself and Zhou Yan…

She wanted to go to Germany to seek her brother! Her brother was studying there he would definitely take them in.

Knock knock knock… Shen Wan gently knocked on the back door of the Zhou residence.

After a short while, the door opened but it wasn’t Zhou Yan who came out. It was one of the Zhou family’s servants. Seeing her, the servant turned and called into the courtyard, “Quick, fetch Madam! Miss Shen is here again.”

“Again?”

Before Shen Wan could think more, she saw Yan Yu walking gracefully out of the courtyard.

Yan Yu was Yan Xiao’s cousin why was she in Zhou Yan’s courtyard?

Yan Yu wore a pale yellow qipao, patterned with clusters of pear blossoms. When she looked at Shen Wan, her eyes held even more arrogance.

Just like her cousin Yan Xiao, Yan Yu had the same habit of looking down on people.
