“Senior Jingyan!”

Su Jingyan had just walked out of the classroom and was on his way to the restroom.

“Huh?” He turned to look for the source of the voice and was slightly taken aback.Full novel: The Paranoid Bosses Are All My Boyfriend — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Song Keyin was standing in the corridor outside, wearing her favorite long dress as always.

He didn’t know whether it was his imagination, but her eyes seemed a little red at that moment, and her bearing was different from usual, as if she had been through some earth-shaking change. She had the same eye-catching air as always, the air of someone who looked down on life and death.

Around them, many fanboys and fangirls were eagerly waiting in the corridor for Su Jingyan to leave class, as they did every day.

As devoted fans, they had very fast sources of information. Not only did they know that Su Jingyan had come to school that morning on someone else’s bicycle, but they also knew that Song Keyin was the new president of the Green Olive Painting Club, which made her Su Jingyan’s direct junior.

Song Keyin had done a good job of holding back the feelings in her heart, but when she finally saw the senior alive and well again, the ache and the dreamlike disbelief inside her all came pouring out at once.

Seeing that she was standing there without moving, Su Jingyan walked over and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Song Keyin opened her mouth to answer when she heard the senior’s voice, but, for reasons she couldn’t explain, tears streamed down her face instead. It wasn’t her usual way of crying, pretty and graceful like an angel’s, but a choked, helpless sobbing.

Su Jingyan was startled. Her reaction left him at a loss, and he didn’t know how to comfort her.

Song Keyin laughed, inexplicably, at the sight of his expression.

Su Jingyan looked even more perplexed.

“It’s nothing. I just suddenly wanted to see you, senior, so I came to call you.”

Song Keyin smiled, but for some reason the smile made people feel inexplicably sad.

Suddenly? After class, she had rushed from the freshman building all the way to the fourth floor of the senior building just to see him.

She had wanted to make sure that the senior was alive in this world, safe and sound, still wearing that gentle, pure smile of his. She had wanted to make sure that everything in front of her was not a dream, a dream that could burst like a bubble.

Su Jingyan’s eyes curved, and those pretty doe eyes were as bright as ever.

He really was tender.

Song Keyin pursed her lips, held back her tears, took a deep breath, and composed herself. Then she said, “Senior Jingyan, please take good care of yourself!”

Su Jingyan was stunned.

Song Keyin offered no explanation. She turned and left, but the moment she turned around she could no longer hold back her emotions. She covered her mouth and nose tightly and ran as if she were mad, planning to find a quiet corner and cry her heart out.

Su Jingyan watched her run away and blinked, a little dazed.

He didn’t think much of it. He only paused for a moment before continuing straight to the restroom.

In a dark corner of the hall, someone was watching the scene like a voyeur. He sneered ferociously, baring sharp fangs like a beast on the verge of madness.

Senior.

Why are you so naughty?

Tsk.

I’m so angry I want to kill someone again.

The most considerate thing about the boys’ restroom at Jiyuan High School was that even the urinals had partitions and door locks. Otherwise, given Su Jingyan’s popularity, if he went to the restroom, many people would stare at him as he took off his pants, and that would be enough to scare anyone out of peeing.

Su Jingyan’s face flushed red when he realized what crazy things he was thinking about Lu Yichen. He quickly shook the thoughts away and focused all his attention on finishing.

After a while, the sound of running water filled the restroom.

The peeping eyes watched their sweetheart shamelessly the whole time.

The dark eyes moved over him without blinking, as if admiring a beautiful work of art, and they were intoxicated and obsessed.

Ah.

Senior…

Su Jingyan shivered as he washed up, feeling an inexplicable chill down his back.

It was finally noon. Su Jingyan took a deep breath, closed the black leather book full of writing, and put down the pen in his hand.

Jiyuan High School was in City A. Although it couldn’t be called the top high school, it was definitely among the best. Its enrollment rate and the proportion of its students who went on to prestigious universities were very impressive.

Su Jingyan’s grades weren’t at the very top of his year, but he was still in the top five of his class. As long as he was willing to study hard and keep his results steady, he could easily get into an ordinary university even if he couldn’t get into a major one.

The senior students in Class Four were well aware of their class pet’s lunch habits. He waited until everyone had left before leaving the classroom to eat. If there were many people outside, he wouldn’t go out, even if he was hungry.

Jiyuan High School also had an unwritten rule: no snacks or fast food were allowed in the classroom.

But when he thought about it, in this world no one would want hundreds of pairs of eyes staring at them no matter what they did.

No one knew who had first discovered the secret, but once the news got out, the whole school more or less sped up and rushed to the cafeteria the moment mealtime came. People who didn’t know the real reason might have thought the cafeteria food was insanely delicious.

The fans who used to come to see Su Jingyan as soon as mealtime started also wisely left him alone, giving him a private space.

This was called restrained love.

If anyone was found to have maliciously followed Su Jingyan and blocked his way, every student in the school would go and teach that person how to behave.

At Jiyuan High School, this had basically become the default rule.

Su Jingyan sat in his seat as usual, waiting for the others to leave first. This time, though, he was obviously more impatient than usual to get out early.

He had pointed his toes toward the classroom door and was holding his lunch box in his hand, an impatient look on his face.

At last, once most of the people had left, he quickly stood up from his chair and hurried toward the forest.

I get to see Lu Yichen again at noon today!

He would also get to eat the love bento the other boy had made for him.

“Gulu! Gulu!” Su Jingyan called out the orange cat’s name as usual the moment he entered the forest.

Not long after, he heard a rustling sound, the sound of dead leaves being trampled.

Su Jingyan turned around.

The boy with the world-weary face was holding the thin yellow civet cat in his hands. With his head lowered, he kept stroking the cat’s fur as he walked over slowly.

“Yichen!” Su Jingyan’s eyes lit up.

Gulu lay in Lu Yichen’s arms with a docile look, motionless. If it hadn’t been for its rolling eyes, Su Jingyan might have thought Gulu was sick.

Lu Yichen’s eyes flickered.

Only he knew that the seemingly docile orange cat in his arms was actually trembling slightly. It was the fear that came from deep inside it. Every time his hand touched the cat, its body stiffened.

Su Jingyan took Gulu from Lu Yichen’s arms, rubbed his nose against Gulu’s little face, and hugged him carefully.

Gulu caught a familiar scent. His drooping tail immediately stood up, and his formerly lifeless eyes began to shine, as if he had come to life in an instant.

He rubbed his head against Su Jingyan’s chest, looking very cute.

Only then did Su Jingyan notice that Lu Yichen had no bento in his hand, and he frowned slightly.

That morning, he had assumed Lu Yichen had already eaten, so he hadn’t eaten any breakfast with him. When he saw that there was only one bento on the table, he had thought Lu Yichen had stuffed his own into his schoolbag early.

Thinking about it now, he suddenly realized that Lu Yichen might not have eaten all morning.

Su Jingyan’s eyelids twitched. “Where’s your lunch?”

Lu Yichen didn’t change his expression. “I’ve eaten.”

Su Jingyan didn’t believe it at all.

Holding Gulu in his arms, he sat down right on the ground, raised his head, and looked at Lu Yichen with those beautiful doe eyes. “You liar!” he said fiercely. “Sit down!”

Senior…

So cute…

Lu Yichen’s dark eyes flickered slightly. A touch of some incomprehensible emotion flashed through them, and a sticky sweetness, like eating honey, crossed his heart inexplicably.

Su Jingyan opened his bento. He didn’t know what it contained because he hadn’t looked yet, and he was startled when he saw it.

Su Jingyan’s own bento box was relatively large, but he usually filled it only halfway, which was enough for himself and Gulu.

The bento Lu Yichen had prepared for him was packed to the brim. There were not only rice balls and small meatballs but also chicken, beef, carrots, cucumbers, broccoli, strawberries, and cherry tomatoes.

It was a balanced combination of meat, vegetables, and fruit.

The best part was the fried egg inside, shaped like a heart!

Seeing the lunch box, Su Jingyan’s anger vanished at once. The words he had been about to say to teach Lu Yichen a lesson were cut short by the blush rising in his face.

Why is Lu Yichen so good at flirting!

Su Jingyan curled his lips. A hint of sweetness flashed through his heart, but he kept a deadpan expression and tried not to let his joy show too much.

Su Jingyan always carried disposable chopsticks in his bag because he ate with Gulu every day at noon, and no matter how close they were, he had to pay attention to hygiene.

With a blushing face, Su Jingyan took the disposable chopsticks out of the lunch bag and handed them to Lu Yichen. “Since you’ve prepared so much, let’s eat together,” he said shyly.

After he finished speaking, he stared at Lu Yichen with shining eyes, the corners of them curved and clear.

Lu Yichen didn’t speak.

Some people live in darkness, but their hearts yearn for light.
