Inside the bar, the noise was deafening, bustling and crowded.

Colored lights from above illuminated the swaying figures of men and women on the dance floor, the DJ’s tracks fueling their excitement even further. The laughter and chatter within drowned out the tranquil night outside.

At the bar counter sat a girl in a black strapless dress. Her cheeks were flushed, her gaze somewhat hazy—clearly, she had drunk far too much.Full novel: The Paranoid Tycoon’s Little Wife Suddenly Turns Six! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Her slender, fair fingers picked up the glass before her and downed the brandy in one go.

“Lu Siye, ~hic~”

“You’re despicable and shameless. Did you really think you could keep me from going out?”

The moment Ning Yan set down her glass, she felt a chill breeze sweep over her, making her frown instinctively. She muttered under her breath, “Where’s that wind coming from?”

“Ning Yan.”

Those two words were practically ground out between Lu Siye’s teeth.

She actually came here to drink—did she have any idea how dangerous that was?

Mm.

That voice sounded like Lu Siye.

“Come home with me.” Lu Siye lifted Ning Yan off the tall bar stool with one arm, a note of command creeping into his tone.

Ning Yan pushed him away, her small face darkening as she coldly said, “I’m not going back. You big liar.”

The words were meant to be angry, but paired with her slightly hoarse, soft voice, they came out more like a plea.

“Yan Yan, be good.” Lu Siye reached out to stroke her face, but before his hand could touch her, she dodged away.

Ning Yan stumbled unsteadily toward the exit, not caring in the slightest whether the man behind her was angry.

“Lu—” Before she could finish the word, Ning Yan tumbled down the stairs.

Lu Siye rushed over in large strides.

“Yan Yan. Yan Yan.” In his deep, dark eyes was a fear and panic never seen before.

The streak of fresh red blood on his long, slender fingers seared painfully into his vision.

“Yan Yan.”

He immediately scooped up the girl on the ground and charged out.

He lost count of how many red lights he ran, reaching the hospital in just eight minutes.

At the hospital.

“What happened to your little beauty this time?” The man teased Lu Siye with a slightly mocking tone.

Clearly, this wasn’t the first time.

Lu Siye’s eyes were bloodshot, his voice trembling slightly. “She’s hurt. Hurry.”

His words came out disjointed.

Only Ning Yan could turn the arrogant, unyielding Lu Siye into someone so cautious and fragile.

“Will she—” Before he could finish, Lu Siye grabbed him by the collar.

“Look.” Just one word, yet it carried overwhelming authority, silencing the man instantly.

Xu Muyan had Lu Siye lay Ning Yan on the hospital bed and began examining her.

“How is she?” The man’s cold, thin voice was like a demon returning from hell, sending chills down one’s spine.

Yet this same man, cold as frost, looked at the girl on the bed with nothing but tenderness in his eyes.

“Fourth Brother, she… Sister-in-law is fine. She just hit her head, and her ankle is slightly sprained.” Xu Muyan reported to Lu Siye, still shaken.

After all, the Lu Siye from moments ago was something Xu Muyan had never witnessed before.

“Are you sure?” Lu Siye’s icy voice carried a tone of interrogation.

Xu Muyan: …

Lu Siye’s hoarse, low voice spat out a single word. “Scram.”

Xu Muyan bolted out of the room as if his feet were on fire.

The pressure was too overwhelming.

It was as if a gun was pressed against his temple—how could he not be afraid?

Lu Siye sat by the bedside, looking at the pale-faced girl, a sharp pain piercing somewhere in his heart.

Lu Siye carefully reached out and touched the wound on Ning Yan’s forehead, his movements so gentle, as if he were caressing something precious, afraid of breaking it.

“Yan Yan, it’s all my fault.”

“I’m sorry, Yan Yan.”

He feared nothing in this world except Ning Yan getting hurt.

So much so that every time Ning Yan used injury to scare Lu Siye, he would take her to the hospital, only to find out upon arrival that it was this little girl’s “scheme.”

Yet even so, Lu Siye would still fall for it.

Because he dared not gamble with his girl.

Lu Siye was consumed by self-blame.

That night, Lu Siye stayed by Ning Yan’s side, sleepless the entire night.

The next day.

A soft, coquettish sound came from the person on the bed.

~Mm~

Where is this?

Seeing the white surroundings of the room, Ning Yan was terrified. Without a second thought, she burst into tears.

“~Wah wah wah~”

Lu Siye, who was walking to the door of the ward, heard Ning Yan’s crying and quickly strode in.

He had been gone for less than five minutes, and Ning Yan was already crying.

A phone call had come in just now. Seeing that Ning Yan was asleep, afraid of waking her, he went to the door to take the call. But in just a moment, Ning Yan woke up and started crying.

“Yan Yan, what’s wrong?” Lu Siye stroked Ning Yan’s long hair, asking her in a gentle tone.

Ning Yan dodged Lu Siye’s hand, shifting to the side, her eyes, as dark as black grapes, filled with fear. Her voice, sweet and soft, spoke up, “Uncle, who are you?”

Lu Siye’s hand froze in midair.

What did Ning Yan call him?

Un… Uncle?

Lu Siye’s deep eyes were full of scrutiny as he examined the girl before him, wondering if this was another one of her new tricks.

“Ning Yan, what did you call me?” Lu Siye’s voice was somewhat stern. He had intended to make her speak normally, but he hadn’t expected that this would directly scare Ning Yan into crying.

“You’re so scary, wah wah wah wah, I want to go home, I want… to go home.” Ning Yan’s tears instantly streamed down her face, her thin, small body trembling slightly. It was clear that she was truly frightened at this moment.

Lu Siye’s gaze never left Ning Yan. The way she was acting didn’t seem like she was lying.

Looking at Ning Yan, who was cowering to the side, Lu Siye directly dialed Xu Muyan’s number, his voice carrying a deliberate restraint, because he was afraid of scaring her.

“Xu Muyan, get your ass over here.”

After dropping that one sentence, Lu Siye hung up the phone.

The phone in Xu Muyan’s hand nearly fell to the ground.

What’s wrong with this ancestor now?

Without time to think, he could only grab his white coat from the coat rack and head toward Ning Yan’s ward.

“Fourth Brother, I—” Before Xu Muyan could finish his sentence, Lu Siye kicked him, sending him flying out of the ward.

Lu Siye then walked out as well, gently closing the door behind him.

“Fourth Brother, what’s wrong?” Xu Muyan rubbed his butt, which was sore from Lu Siye’s kick.

A footprint was left on his originally clean, pure white coat.

Lu Siye spoke coldly, a hint of contemplation in his deep eyes, “Give Yan Yan a full body examination.”

“Is something wrong with Sister-in-law?” Xu Muyan quickly asked about Ning Yan’s condition. After all, since she was in his hospital, he couldn’t afford any problems.

“She called me Uncle.” Lu Siye frowned and muttered under his breath.

That single sentence left Xu Muyan frozen in place, as if struck by lightning.

“Didn’t you say she was fine?” Lu Siye’s sharp gaze swept toward Xu Muyan, his cold voice carrying a hint of interrogation.
