“Let’s just talk here.”
Chen Sisi’s attitude was starting to annoy Lin Yu.
Chen Sisi scoffed, turning her head to confront Lin Yu angrily.
“Did you tell anyone that I was the one who brought you to the company?”
Lin Yu paused, then shook his head.
“I didn’t.”
Her voice rising, Chen Sisi said contemptuously, “Are you even a man?
Can’t you even admit to what you’ve done?”
“Do you have any idea that I was transferred from my original post because of this?”
“It’s all your fault!
I was perfectly fine at my old job.
Now, not only have I been demoted, but I’m also being mocked by my colleagues.”
Somehow, Chen Sisi’s direct supervisor had found out that she was the one who had recommended Lin Yu to the company.
The supervisor concluded that since Chen Sisi knew Lin Yu was an ex-convict and still brought him in, she must have had ulterior motives.
As a result, Chen Sisi was removed from her position as Deputy Manager of the Sales Department.
Her new role was currently undecided, and she was told to await further notice.
One thing was certain, though: she would no longer enjoy her former perks and status.
Being demoted because of Lin Yu made Chen Sisi sick with regret.
She couldn’t believe she had risked her own career by bringing him to the company.
“I really didn’t say anything.” Lin Yu hadn’t expected the company to punish Chen Sisi because of him.
He added apologetically,
“I’ll make up for your losses in the future.”
Chen Sisi’s expression soured, her anger flaring as she glared at Lin Yu with contempt.
“You don’t even have the guts to admit what you did!
You’re not a man at all!”
“Make it up to me?
With what?
I only have myself to blame for being soft-hearted and promising my mom I’d take you to the company.”
“Get out!
I never want to see you again.”
Chen Sisi turned her head away, unwilling to spare Lin Yu another glance, and seethed in silence.
Lin Yu pushed the door open and got out.
VROOM!
The engine roared, and the car sped off, leaving a cloud of exhaust in its wake.
Lin Yu took the bus to the company as usual.
When he arrived at his desk, he discovered Chen Sisi at the workstation directly opposite his.
He was a little surprised.
‘What is Chen Sisi doing in the Finance Department?’
The moment she saw Lin Yu, Chen Sisi angrily turned her head away.
Lin Yu could only sit down and prepare to start work.
“Meeting.”
Just then, Lu Chunxue walked into the office.
Chen Luo was nowhere to be seen.
‘He must be in the hospital recovering,’ Lin Yu thought.
Everyone immediately formed two lines.
Lin Yu stood at the very back of the second row, and Chen Sisi deliberately kept her distance from him.
“I have two important announcements to make.”
“First, the Finance Department has a newcomer.
She is the former Deputy Manager of the Sales Department, Chen Sisi.
Let’s give her a warm welcome.”
Everyone applauded in unison, but they all knew full well that this was a demotion.
Moreover, most of them had heard the reason for it.
Some gloated at her misfortune, some felt it was unfair to her, and others remained completely indifferent.
Chen Sisi remained expressionless, but she was miserable inside and had to force a smile.
“Thank you, everyone.”
“As for the second matter…” Lu Chunxue said, glancing first at Lin Yu, then at Chen Sisi.
“I’ve decided that our Finance Department will form a dedicated Debt Collection Team.
As for its members, for now, it will be Lin Yu and Chen Sisi.”
“Furthermore, the Debt Collection Team will be managed by Team Leader Chen Luo.”
“The two of you are to work diligently and complete your tasks on time.
Since Team Leader Chen is currently on leave, you will report your progress directly to me for the time being.”
Lu Chunxue remained outwardly impassive, but she was sneering inwardly.
Lin Yu had embarrassed her in front of the entire Finance Department yesterday.
After some consideration, she had immediately decided to assign him the department’s most arduous task.
She would give it to Lin Yu alone.
As luck would have it, a notice came from upper management that Chen Sisi was being transferred to the Finance Department, so she could put them together as a team.
Upon hearing this, the members of the Finance Department were overjoyed, especially the others from Team Leader Chen’s group.
The thankless chore of debt collection had finally been taken over entirely by Lin Yu and Chen Sisi.
“He pissed off Manager Lu, and now comes the payback, huh?”
“To be fair, Lin Yu is clueless.
He doesn’t even get the most basic workplace rule of staying on your supervisor’s good side.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t be getting this ‘special treatment’ from Manager Lu.”
The crowd whispered amongst themselves.
Chen Sisi’s expression was exceptionally grim.
She raised her hand.
“Manager Lu, I object.”
“I refuse to be on a team with Lin Yu.”
Lu Chunxue completely ignored Chen Sisi, stating in a tone that permitted no argument, “Objection denied.”
Chen Sisi said frantically, “I’ll die before I team up with him!”
“Manager Lu, I’ll do anything else, just not on a team with him.”
Lu Chunxue said coldly, “Chen Sisi, do you still think you’re the Deputy Manager of the Sales Department?”
“I suggest you recognize your current position.
You’re in my Finance Department now, so you will follow my arrangements.”
“If you continue to be difficult, you can hand in your resignation letter later.
I’ll be happy to sign it.”
Lu Chunxue had long since decided that Chen Sisi and Lin Yu were two of a kind, so she certainly wasn’t going to be pleasant to her.
Besides, she looked down on anyone who made a mistake and got demoted from the bottom of her heart.
Chen Sisi was so angry she was on the verge of tears.
She shot Lin Yu a hateful glare and fell silent.
After the morning meeting ended, Liu Huamin organized a thick stack of documents and brought them to Lin Yu.
He said with palpable relief, “Lin Yu, these are all the remaining debt files for our team.
They’re all yours now.”
“Oh, right.
Manager Lu just told me that you and Chen Sisi must collect at least five million in overdue payments every day, otherwise your salaries will be docked.”
“Good luck, my friend.”
With that, Liu Huamin gathered his things and moved to another team’s workstation.
Watching Liu Huamin leave so happily, Lin Yu shook his head.
‘Not only is the guy a coward, but his character is seriously lacking, too.’
In the large work area for Team Six, only Lin Yu and Chen Sisi remained.
“Hey, what was that guy talking about?
Did I hear him say we have to collect at least five million a day?”
As much as she hated having to interact with Lin Yu, work still had to be done.
Bracing herself, Chen Sisi walked up to Lin Yu and asked her question.
“That’s right.
It means the two of us have to collect the debts owed to the company, and we need to bring in at least five million a day.”
Lin Yu explained.

I’ll go collect it right now and show you.”
Fuming, Chen Sisi snatched a stack of files from Lin Yu, picked out one for a debt of eight million, and stormed away from her desk.
“Hey, you’re leaving already?
Wait for me.”
Lin Yu quickly chased after her.
Chen Sisi had never collected debts before and had no idea how difficult it was.
‘If something happened to her, how would he ever explain it to Aunt Liu?’

Stop following me.”
