Su Ni walked over to the bed, her gaze falling on Huo Shiyue’s face. His features looked as though they had been carved from the finest jade: strong, handsome brows, a high, straight nose, full lips, and the faintest upward curve at the corners of his mouth. Judging by his looks alone, he was undoubtedly a sleeping beauty.

Su Ni found herself staring for a moment, almost entranced. With a face like that, it was no wonder the young ladies of Jingbei were so eager to win his favor.

After a moment, she came back to her senses. She reached out and placed her fingers on Huo Shiyue’s wrist, carefully feeling his pulse.Full novel: The Real Heiress Keeps Revealing Her Hidden Identities, and Her Whole Family Begs for Forgiveness — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Gradually, her brows knitted together.

His pulse was weak and erratic, sometimes barely detectable at all. His condition was indeed extremely strange. It certainly didn’t seem like an ordinary illness.

Su Ni pondered silently. She had come tonight hoping to find a way to stop the marriage alliance between the Huo and Su families.

She had returned this time to take revenge on the Su family. Naturally, she didn’t want to see them grow stronger.

Su Ni was considering the possibility of working with Huo Shiyue. His illness was suspicious, and the Huo family’s situation was complicated. Getting involved would likely bring her no small amount of trouble.

Su Ni’s fingertips rested against Huo Shiyue’s brow. After hesitating for a moment, she ultimately couldn’t bear to let someone this handsome simply die.

She raised her hand, bit her finger to draw blood, then leaned down. Her red lips pressed against Huo Shiyue’s thin lips as she pried open his teeth and fed her blood into his mouth.

Su Ni had just started to straighten up when Huo Shiyue suddenly opened his eyes.

Those deep eyes erupted with a fierce killing intent, like a ferocious tiger suddenly awakened from sleep. An aura of danger and intimidation radiated from his entire body.

Su Ni had no time to dodge. Their eyes met head-on, and every hair on her body seemed to stand on end.

A warning bell immediately went off in Su Ni’s mind. She instinctively pulled away.

“Pop!”

In the tense atmosphere of the room, the sound seemed to be magnified infinitely.

Su Ni and Huo Shiyue both froze. For a moment, the air itself seemed to solidify.

Just then, a faint sound of the door opening came from outside.

Su Ni reacted swiftly. With one quick movement, she rolled onto the bed beside Huo Shiyue and lay down, pulling the covers over herself.

Fortunately, she had only just come out of the mental institution and was extremely thin. Otherwise, there was no way she could have hidden herself beneath the covers.

At the same time, Huo Shiyue also closed his eyes.

A moment later, the door was gently pushed open, followed by several sets of footsteps.

The newcomers walked toward the bed and stopped beside it. Su Ni’s heart tightened.

“Huo An, how is the young master today?”

Judging by the voice, it sounded like an older woman.

“He’s the same as always. Who knows when he’ll wake up?” a younger voice replied, filled with deep concern.

“Ah, the old madam is nearly frantic with worry. If the young master doesn’t wake up soon, what are we going to do?”

The woman sighed.

Huo An comforted her for a few moments before escorting her out.

Once they had left, Su Ni threw back the covers and sat up, breathing heavily.

“Who are you?”

Still lying on the bed, Huo Shiyue studied the woman before him—or, more accurately, the teenage girl.

His eyes held a hint of scrutiny and wariness. Although his body was weak, he still maintained that innate calm and composure, as though no matter what happened, he could always keep the situation firmly under his control.

Su Ni’s instincts told her that the man before her was dangerous. But seeing that his body had been unconscious for so long that he could only lie there, unable to move, she decided to take a bold chance.

She lifted Huo Shiyue’s chin, rubbed it twice with her fingers, and said in an ambiguous, teasing tone, “Mr. Huo, you’re so fierce. I’m your fiancée, you know.”

With that, she gently blew a breath against his face, her eyes gleaming with mischief and audacity.

The tightly closed door suddenly swung open.

Huo An had returned.

The moment he opened the door, he lunged toward Su Ni, his movements swift and fierce.

Su Ni reacted even faster. The instant he charged at her, she quickly moved the hand that had been holding Huo Shiyue’s chin downward and clamped it around his neck instead.

“If you take another step, I’ll kill him!”
