Su Ni’s words made Huo Shiyue’s pupils contract. The painful memories he had deliberately pushed aside came rushing back in an instant.
At first, he had simply assumed it was caused by overwork and hadn’t paid much attention to it. But as time went by, the pain became increasingly frequent and severe, until one day he suddenly fell into a coma without warning.
“My blood only woke you up temporarily. If you want to completely rid your body of the poison, it’ll take some work,” Su Ni continued. “So, how about we make a deal?”
“A deal?” Huo Shiyue’s deep voice rang out, carrying a hint of scrutiny. “Miss Su, what kind of deal?”
Su Ni tilted her head and thought for a moment. “Within six months, I’ll cure you. In return, you agree to do three things for me.”
By the time Su Ni had described his symptoms, Huo Shiyue had already begun to believe her. On top of that, she had indeed used her own blood to bring him back to consciousness today.
“What three things?”
Huo Shiyue was a shrewd businessman. The more important the situation, the more cautious he became.
Su Ni frowned thoughtfully. “The first thing is that the Huo Group cannot cooperate with the Su family. As for the other two, I haven’t decided yet. But don’t worry. I absolutely won’t ask you to do anything against your conscience or anything that would harm the Huo Group’s interests.”
“The Huo Group and the Su family?”
Huo Shiyue frowned in confusion. In his eyes, the Su family was nowhere near qualified to cooperate with the Huo Group.
Su Ni pointed toward Huo An beside him.
“You tell him.”
Huo An gave Su Ni a strange look before turning to Huo Shiyue and explaining, “Master, you’ve been unconscious this whole time. The doctor even issued a critical condition notice and said you didn’t have much time left. The Old Madam was desperate and decided to arrange a wedding to bring you good luck, hoping it would help you wake up.”
He never would have expected Huo Shiyue to actually wake up.
What Huo An found strange was that Su Ni was a member of the Su family herself, yet her very first condition was to prevent the Huo Group from cooperating with the Su family.
Didn’t she know that the Su family had sent her to the Huo family to marry into the family precisely because they wanted to use her to gain access to the Huo Group?
Su Ni blinked at Huo Shiyue and smiled.
“I wasn’t lying to you, was I?”
Huo Shiyue raised an eyebrow. He knew she was referring to what she had said earlier about being his fiancée.
“Fine.”
Huo Shiyue stared at Su Ni, his gaze carrying a hint of scrutiny and contemplation.
“I agree to the deal. But you’d better do your best to cure me. Otherwise, even if I don’t survive, I have a hundred ways to make you pay the price.”
His voice was still somewhat weak, but the unmistakable authority in his tone made it clear that he was perfectly capable of carrying out his threat.
Su Ni smiled lightly, confidence shining in her eyes.
“Don’t worry, President Huo. Since I dared to propose this deal, I naturally have complete confidence in my ability to cure you. But treating an illness isn’t something that can be done overnight. In the meantime, I’ll need your full cooperation.”
As she spoke, she swung her legs off the bed and walked over to the table beside it. She picked up the teapot and poured herself a cup of water, her movements light and casual, as though she hadn’t just threatened to kill Huo Shiyue moments ago.
“You’d better investigate the people around you. The poison in your body has been accumulating for a long time. It must have been administered over an extended period by someone close to you.”
She turned back to look at Huo Shiyue.
“I’d hate to save you only for someone to poison you to death again.”
“Good.”
Huo Shiyue’s eyes darkened.
“I won’t let your blood have been shed in vain.”
Now that they had reached an agreement, it was time for Su Ni to leave. She had been gone secretly for so long that once she went back downstairs, she would probably have to listen to her mother scold her again.
She walked over to the window, turned back, and waved at Huo Shiyue.
“Goodbye, President Huo.”
With that, she climbed out the window and left.
Huo An hadn’t expected her to actually jump out the window. He stood there in stunned silence for a moment before rushing over to look.
But Su Ni was already nowhere to be seen.
