Su Ni secretly admired Huo Shiyue’s incredible endurance, and the movements of her hands became even more careful and precise. She began gently twisting the silver needles, adjusting their depth and angle while closely observing Huo Shiyue’s reactions to ensure that every needle produced the greatest possible effect.

Time passed second by second, and a tense, heavy atmosphere filled the room.

At last, Su Ni finished the first round of acupuncture. She let out a long breath and slowly removed the silver needles, her movements gentle and deliberate as she tried to minimize Huo Shiyue’s discomfort.Full novel: The Real Heiress Keeps Revealing Her Hidden Identities, and Her Whole Family Begs for Forgiveness — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“All right, that’s it for today. Rest for a while. I’ll prepare a prescription for you to soak in. It’ll help improve your circulation and speed up the elimination of toxins.” Su Ni spoke as she gathered up the silver needles.

Huo Shiyue slowly sat up and moved his somewhat stiff body.

“Thank you, Miss Su. I’ve troubled you today.”

Su Ni gently shook her head and turned to leave to write the prescription.

Huo Shiyue noticed that her steps seemed slightly unsteady, and his brows furrowed.

Huo An walked over and lowered his voice as he reported, “Master, the people we sent to Cao Town are back. Before Su Ni returned to the Su family, she really did live in Cao Town, exactly as the records indicate. There was nothing unusual.”

Huo Shiyue gave a slight nod, his eyes deep and unreadable.

“Where has she been these past five years?”

Huo An continued, “The Su family told outsiders that Su Ni had been in poor health and was following an old Chinese medicine doctor to recuperate. In reality, she’s spent the past five years locked up in a psychiatric hospital. I’ve already sent people to investigate that hospital. According to her medical records, everything appears normal.”

“Oh? Then it seems there’s nothing wrong with her…”

Huo Shiyue’s fingers lightly tapped against the edge of the bed.

Huo An lowered his head.

Yes, everything appeared normal. Yet Su Ni possessed extraordinary medical skills, and her personality was completely different from the rumors surrounding her. What exactly was she hiding?

After a moment, Huo Shiyue slowly spoke.

“Send a few more people to infiltrate the psychiatric hospital and investigate. I have a feeling there’s something going on.”

“Yes.”

At that moment, faint footsteps sounded outside the door. The two immediately fell silent.

Su Ni walked in, handing Huo An the prescription and a sheet of paper with a diagram on it.

“One medicinal bath every day. After each bath, follow the massage techniques shown here. I’ll come back in seven days. If anything happens, contact me anytime.”

Huo An gratefully accepted the prescription.

“Thank you for your hard work, Miss Su.”

Su Ni nodded slightly. She put away her acupuncture kit and looked at Huo Shiyue.

“If there’s nothing else today, I’ll head back first.”

“All right.”

Huo Shiyue gave a slight nod.

Huo An personally escorted Su Ni home.

On the way, Su Ni received a call from an unknown number. She glanced at the number before answering.

“Hello?”

The person on the other end said a few words. Upon hearing them, Su Ni lifted her eyes and glanced at Huo An’s back. Her expression remained unchanged. She merely responded with a few quiet “Mm”s and “I understand,” before hanging up.

Huo An escorted Su Ni to the door and said respectfully, “Miss Su, I’ll come pick you up again in seven days.”

Su Ni nodded slightly in acknowledgment, then turned and entered the Su residence.

The call Su Ni had received in the car had been from the director of the psychiatric hospital. He told her that someone had recently come to investigate her.

After thinking about it for a moment, Su Ni immediately knew it had to be Huo Shiyue.

After all, they were partners now, and given Huo Shiyue’s cautious nature, there was no way he would let the matter go without digging into her background.

Just as she was thinking about how to deal with it, she suddenly sensed that something was wrong up ahead.

Before she could react, a frightening burst of barking rang out.

Su Ni abruptly looked up and saw a huge wolfdog striding aggressively toward her.
