A little after eight in the evening, Yu Qingyu went to Lishan Villa.
Even though Lou Minghe knew Huo Zhili was abroad, he still accompanied her to pack her things.
As soon as the two stepped inside, a servant respectfully greeted them: “Miss Yu, Young Master Lou.”
They merely gave a slight nod and headed straight upstairs.
Entering the bedroom, Yu Qingyu only packed the things she had brought with her, which weren’t many—not even filling one suitcase.
Ten minutes later, Lou Minghe carried the suitcase while Yu Qingyu quietly followed by his side.
Seeing this, the servant approached and softly asked, “Miss Yu, are you going on a business trip?”
Yu Qingyu replied flatly, “We’ve separated. I’m only taking my own things.”
She hadn’t touched any of the jewelry, accessories, or custom-made gowns Huo Zhili had bought for her.
The servant quickly tried to persuade her: “Miss Yu, there must be some misunderstanding between you and the young master.”
Yu Qingyu didn’t respond further and walked out with Lou Minghe.
Watching their departing figures, the servant immediately dialed Huo Zhili’s number.
In France, it was two in the afternoon. Huo Zhili was buried in work when he saw the call and answered.
“Young Master Huo, Miss Yu just came with Young Master Lou, packed her things, and left.”
The man in the black shirt leaned back in his chair and responded indifferently, “What did she say?”
“Miss Yu said she has separated from you and only took her own belongings.”
The words from the receiver made Huo Zhili’s brow furrow slightly, his tone suddenly turning cold and sharp: “Understood.”
After hanging up, he opened the WeChat chat window with Yu Qingyu and typed a line with his fingertips:
【We’re both adults. Is this separation for real? I don’t have time for your games.】
The moment the message was sent, a notification abruptly appeared on the screen:
Message sent, but blocked by the recipient.
Huo Zhili stared at the line, his fingers pausing slightly—
She had deleted him.
He immediately dialed her number.
Yu Qingyu was gripping the steering wheel when she saw the incoming call. Her fingers hesitated briefly before she answered.
From the receiver, a familiar voice carried a hint of impatience: “You deleted me on WeChat, Qingyu. Is this fun?”
Hearing his accusatory tone, Yu Qingyu’s eyes instantly reddened. Struggling to maintain the last shred of dignity, her voice grew slightly hoarse: “It’s not fun. We’re done.”
She no longer had the strength to voice the grievances and questions buried deep in her heart.
“Have you thought this through? Or are you just throwing a tantrum? I’m busy; I don’t have time for your games.” Huo Zhili frowned, his tone filled with impatience.
In his view, Yu Qingyu was simply acting out her spoiled young lady temper again, trying to force him to yield and seek his attention with this method.
The frequent arguments over the past few days had already left him physically and mentally exhausted.
He added coldly, “I won’t always be waiting here for you. Even if you’re not tired of it, I am.”
Listening to this, Yu Qingyu could no longer hold back her tears. Her heart felt as if it were being tightly clenched, aching and trembling.
She didn’t speak again and directly ended the call.
So, from beginning to end, he had thought she was just making a scene.
So, he had long grown tired and weary of it.
Hearing the busy tone from the receiver, Huo Zhili simply assumed she was pulling the same old trick again.
The “crying wolf” game wasn’t something she was playing for the first time.
He didn’t take it seriously at all.
In his mind, it wouldn’t be long before she came to her senses and would naturally take the initiative to come back to him and reconcile.
Yu Qingyu’s emotions were already on the verge of collapse. She slowly pulled the car over to the side of the road, and Lou Minghe, who had been following closely behind, immediately stopped his car as well.
He quickly descended the steps and lightly tapped on the car window.
Yu Qingyu silently unlocked the central lock.
The moment he saw her tear-streaked face, Lou Minghe’s anger toward Huo Zhili surged so fiercely it nearly burst from his chest.
“Get out of the car. Everything will pass. No one in this world is truly indispensable, and the sky won’t fall. Even if it does, I’ll hold it up for you.”
Deep down, Yu Qingyu understood—she wasn’t worth degrading herself like this—but the overwhelming emotions were impossible to suppress.
Her fingers trembling, she unbuckled the seatbelt and stepped out of the car.
Without a word, she walked straight into Lou Minghe’s vehicle.
He immediately made a call, arranging for her car to be driven back. Then, returning to the back seat, he gently pulled her close, resting her head against his shoulder. Without saying much, he simply patted her back soothingly, one stroke after another.
With his other hand, he picked up his phone and sent a message to Huo Zhili:
【Huo Zhili, you’re a real bastard. Qingyu doesn’t need you to survive.】
After sending it, he exited the chat interface without hesitation.
Years of brotherhood had come to an end.
Huo Zhili was in the middle of a meeting. He glanced briefly at the screen, his gaze quickly returning to the merger documents.
He could understand Lou Minghe’s protective instinct toward his sister, but he hadn’t expected their friendship to end so abruptly.
Yu Qingyu buried her face in his shoulder, weeping uncontrollably. It took over twenty minutes for her emotions to gradually settle. Then, she stared blankly out the window.
Ever since she was a toddler, she had followed Huo Zhili everywhere.
From early childhood education to kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, and high school—she had chased after his shadow every step of the way.
Even when they attended universities in different cities, she still made frequent trips to see him, claiming to visit Lou Minghe while her heart and eyes were set solely on him.
Fearing he might be taken by someone else, she constantly asked Lou Minghe about his activities at school, keeping tabs on anyone who showed interest in him.
When persistent girls refused to give up, she even confronted them herself, warning them that he was already betrothed and had someone in his heart, urging them to move on.
After graduation, terrified he might slip away unnoticed, she pursued him passionately for two years, pouring all her enthusiasm into him.
Looking back now, she felt like nothing but a complete joke.
A one-sided affection from start to finish.
In a voice as lifeless as death, she whispered, “This hopeless obsession ends here.”
