Time passed slowly, and Huo Zhili’s merger and acquisition case in France finally concluded successfully.

The news immediately topped the financial trending charts. Yu Qingyu happened to be finishing her last shift at the outpatient clinic, stealing a rare moment of afternoon rest.

In the past, she had always habitually browsed financial news, just to catch a glimpse of Huo Zhili’s movements.Full novel: The Rose of Beijing’s Elite: Xie Mu Leaves the Stage — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Now, the news of Huo Group’s successful acquisition of Kazafi Investment Bank was everywhere. The usually low-key Huo Zhili had surprisingly given a media interview and even posed for a photo with the other party’s executives.

Standing in the center, he effortlessly captured all the cameras’ attention.

His face, stunning enough to captivate everyone, and his status as the Huo family heir were not as attention-grabbing as his business acumen, which surpassed even his predecessors.

By the second quarter, Huo Group had completed seventy private equity and M&A projects, directly ranking among the top three global investment banks, with its territory continuously expanding worldwide.

In the photo, Huo Zhili’s gaze was sharp yet somewhat indifferent, like an invisible hook that captivated hearts.

Among the crowd, he was always the most striking one, with every gesture exuding nobility.

When shaking hands with the other party, his aura was natural yet distant and cold.

This major acquisition, which had caused a sensation in the industry, showed no trace of joy on his face, as if he had merely completed an ordinary, trivial matter.

His decisiveness and ruthless, unfeeling demeanor in business were displayed to the fullest—the projects he set his sights on had never failed.

Yu Qingyu didn’t scroll any further, a self-mocking smile curling at the corner of her lips.

In this world, it seemed there was no one or nothing that could truly matter to Huo Zhili.

In his world, she was far less important than an acquisition case.

For those cases, he was still willing to invest effort, but for her, she had always been dispensable from start to finish.

It truly reflected the saying: the favored one always has nothing to fear.

With a flick of her finger, she closed the page and marked the financial news as “not interested.”

Since she had made up her mind to let go, she would no longer allow anything related to him to intrude into her life.

From now on, she only wanted to pursue her own dreams and never lose herself for anyone again.

Huo Zhili’s schedule had always been confidential, but this acquisition case had caused too much commotion. As soon as his plane landed, the airport was swarmed by a large number of media.

Fortunately, he didn’t avoid them directly and surprisingly stopped to answer questions.

A reporter spoke first: “Young Master Huo, can you reveal Huo Group’s next expansion territory?”

Huo Zhili replied succinctly: “Central Europe.”

Seeing this, the reporter quickly followed up: “Could you be more specific?”

He only replied with four words: “No comment.”

Immediately after, another media outlet raised a personal question: “Young Master Huo, as Huo Group’s territory expands, shouldn’t you also consider your lifelong matter with Miss Yu?”

Huo Zhili didn’t hesitate for a moment: “Not considering it for now.”

With that, he quickly left the crowd under the escort of his bodyguards.

Once in the car, Huo Zhili pinched the bridge of his nose and instructed the driver: “To the company.”

After a pause, he changed his mind: “Back to Lishan first.”

The driver responded: “Yes.”

Jiang Zhou, sitting in the passenger seat, turned around and reported softly: “Mr. Huo, aren’t you resting this afternoon?”

This acquisition case had already compressed the timeline, and Huo Zhili had been working nonstop these past few days, hardly getting any sleep.

Huo Zhili looked up, his sharp gaze sweeping over: “Are you tired?”

Jiang Zhou quickly shook his head. “No, I’m just worried about your health.”

“My health is my own concern.”

Jiang Zhou responded softly, “Alright.”

But inwardly, he was filled with resentment.

He was genuinely exhausted and wanted even more to go back to spend time with his girlfriend. If he didn’t show up soon, she might just break up with him.

At that moment, he desperately hoped Miss Yu would call. If Mr. Huo would just spend half a day—or even an hour—with her, he could sneak away for a date.

Huo Zhili returned to the Lishan Villa. As soon as he entered, a servant respectfully approached him. “Young Master Huo.”

He casually loosened his tie, acknowledged with a faint sound, and headed straight upstairs.

The furnishings in the bedroom were exactly as he had left them.

He tossed his tie onto the sofa, took off his jacket, loosened his cuffs, and turned into the walk-in closet.

Inside, almost nothing had changed either.

He grabbed a bathrobe and went directly into the bathroom. Soon after, the sound of running water echoed.

Standing under the shower, water streamed down his well-defined muscles.

Huo Zhili swept his wet hair back from his forehead, revealing his sharply chiseled face, his eyes deep and inscrutable.

Half an hour later, Huo Zhili came downstairs, dressed once again in a tailored suit.

The servant approached. “Young Master Huo.”

Huo Zhili gave a faint instruction. “I’ll be back for dinner tonight.”

The servant replied, “Yes.”

As soon as Huo Zhili stepped outside, he saw Jiang Zhou and the driver leaning against the car, smoking.

Spotting him approach, both men simultaneously stubbed out their cigarettes.

The driver quickly stepped forward and opened the rear door.

Huo Zhili’s gaze settled on Jiang Zhou. “Go back and rest.”

Jiang Zhou paused, then replied quietly, “I don’t really need to rest.”

Because he had already managed to smooth things over with his girlfriend.

Huo Zhili glanced at him but said nothing more, bending down to get into the car.
