“Who is this?
Chloe?” George’s voice came through the speaker.
“No, it’s not Chloe,” Raquelle said.
“Yes, it wouldn’t be Chloe.
Who has got that man’s voice anyways?” he asked nonchalantly.
Raquelle glared at the screen of the phone.
Did this idiot just say she sounded like a man?
Her grip tightened against the phone.
“Take a guess,” she murmured.
George hesitated on the other end for a second.
“Chloe’s friend?
Can you just give the phone to Chloe?
Don’t you have a mate or something to disturb?” he asked, sounding slightly irritated now.
“Wrong guess, Alpha.
This is Raquelle Blackwood.
The only female Alpha in the states and the female beast…
just like you said.” The line went completely quiet.
Raquelle could practically feel him tense up on the other side of the line, even though she wasn’t there in the room with him.
“What are you doing with Chloe’s phone?!” he suddenly yelled into the receiver.
“Oh, you have absolutely no right to shout at me, you little rat,” Raquelle snapped back.
“What?!” George gasped, completely shocked by her words.
He cleared his throat, trying to force his voice to sound calm.
“Where is Chloe?” “Right here with me.” Raquelle turned her head to look at Chloe.
The teenager had stopped eating entirely.
She was looking down at her lap, picking at her nails nervously under Raquelle’s heavy gaze.
Because her wolf was sedated, her senses were dull, but she could still hear George’s voice vibrating through the phone clearly.
“As a prisoner,” Raquelle added, looking away from the girl.
Alpha George slammed his hand down on his office desk.
The sound was incredibly loud, echoing through the speaker.
Raquelle had to pull the phone away from her ear for a second before bringing it back.
“No wonder I was feeling random pains yesterday,” George growled, his breathing heavy.
“You did something to my Chloe.
You witch!” Raquelle only laughed loudly.
She found it quite hard to take Alpha George seriously.
It was probably because he was her dead mate’s brother.
A strange look crossed her features for a second, but she blinked it away instantly, hardening her heart.
“Your Chloe betrayed my pack,” Raquelle said, letting pure venom slip into her words.
“She deserves to die.” “You will do no such thing!” George roared, using his dominant Alpha voice.
Raquelle didn’t even flinch.
His command didn’t work on her at all.
“I already killed her father,” Raquelle stated plainly.
“The man who helped you try to ruin my company from the inside out.
Killing his little daughter next is like snapping my fingers.” Suddenly, Chloe’s loud sobs filled the small room.
She had felt the pack bond between her and her father snap the day before, but hearing the confirmation directly from Raquelle’s mouth made the reality crash down on her.
Tears rolled down her cheeks, and she couldn’t hold back her cries anymore as she mourned her dad.
“Is that my Chloe?
Chloe!
Are you alright?!” Alpha George asked loudly, panic breaking through his voice.
Raquelle rolled her eyes.
“Your Chloe is crying because her father is dead.
And you indirectly caused his death.” She looked back down at the weeping teenager.
“Chloe, sweetie, do you really want a mate who caused your own father to die?” Chloe’s sobs only worsened, her shoulders shaking violently as she buried her face in her hands.
“You are evil,” George whispered through the line, his voice shaking with pure hatred.
“You are ruthless.
You are—” “Enough!” Raquelle cut him off cleanly.
“You should be happy I haven’t murdered your mate yet.
I should kill her right now, but I’m not that wicked.
But you are going to have to do something for me first.” “What is it?” he asked coldly.
“Drop every single thing you are doing against my company in the city.
And stop the human police from investigating our company.
I know you’re the one behind everything.” “And if I do?” George pressed.
“You get back your Chloe.” Without waiting for his answer, Raquelle cut the call.
She turned her gaze back to Chloe, who was still curled up and crying uncontrollably on the floor.
Raquelle simply rolled her eyes at the dramatic display.
She walked over to the door, turned the handle, and stepped out into the hallway, securing the heavy deadbolt behind her.
Raquelle slid the phone into her pocket and walked down the stairs of her penthouse.
Delta Rivers was waiting for her at the bottom of the steps.
He was one of the senior officials who had been handling everything about the search party.
The moment he saw her, he bowed his head in respect.
“Alpha,” Rivers said, a rare smile breaking across his face.
“I have an update on the situation.” Raquelle leaned against the banister.
“Tell me.” “All twenty children have been successfully reunited with their parents.
The pack is completely joyful right now.
Parents are crying, families are celebrating, and everyone is praising your name.
The tension in the air is finally gone.” Raquelle nodded slowly.
“Good.
What about the warehouse?” “Some of our guards went back to do a full sweep and clear out any remaining traces,” Rivers explained.
“While they were searching the deeper sections, they found the missing school bus driver.
He was knocked out cold but he is alive.
The medics are checking him over right now.” Raquelle exhaled softly, feeling a small weight lift off her shoulders.
“That is good news, Rivers.
But we are not completely out of the woods yet.” Rivers straightened up.
“What are your orders, Alpha?” “First, I want specific guards stationed around the main pack house 24/7.
Nobody enters or leaves without clearance.
Second, order the pack school to be closed for the next two weeks.
Those children need time to recover from the trauma before they return to a normal routine.” “Understood,” Rivers said, nodding as he took down her instructions.
“Next,” Raquelle continued, pacing across the floor.
“Reduce the number of guards currently stationed at our western borders.
By next week, I want a select group of guards and omegas to head into the city.
They need to restock my penthouse fridge and buy extra supplies for the pack’s kitchen.
We cannot let our daily operations slide because of this mess.” Rivers bowed low.
“I will handle everything immediately, Alpha.” “Also, keep me updated on any sudden changes,” Raquelle muttered coldly.
“The moment anything feels off, I want to know.” “Yes, Alpha.
Right away.” Rivers turned and walked out of the penthouse to execute his tasks.
Raquelle stood alone in her living room, her mind already shifting to her next move against Evergreen.
