Dominic didn’t say anything.
He could see how tense she was just by looking at her shoulders.
Her posture was completely rigid.
He took her hand, his fingers squeezing hers, and led her up the carpeted stairs to his bedroom.
The moment they entered the room, Raquelle didn’t wait.
She grabbed his shirt and pushed him flat onto the bed.
She climbed on top of him immediately, her breath coming out unevenly.
She just wanted to forget everything that had happened in the last twenty-four hours.
Her wolf was restless, angry, and scratching at her mind after what she had done to Delta Adams down in the cells.
She could still see the silver blade and the blood.
She needed a total, heavy distraction to calm her head down before she lost her mind.
Dominic didn’t talk or ask what she had done.
He just gripped her waist, flipped her over onto the sheets, and took complete control.
They spent the rest of the night together in the dark, and she finally stopped thinking about what had happened in the dungeon.
*** The next morning, the bright Sunday sun was already high up, streaming through the gaps in the curtains.
Raquelle woke up early, her mind feeling clear.
She slid out from under Dominic’s heavy arm and got out of bed.
She didn’t want to waste time.
She started picking up her clothes from the floor where they had been tossed the night before, pulling them on one by one.
Dominic sat up in the sheets, rubbing his eyes and squinting against the morning light.
He looked at her as she sat on the edge of the mattress to pull on her leather boots.
“Where are you going?
It’s Sunday.
There’s no office work today.
The city headquarters is closed.” “I need to go home,” Raquelle replied, standing up and buttoning her tight jeans.
“I have a prisoner to check on.
I left her tied up in the penthouse.” Dominic shook his head but he didn’t try to argue with her.
He knew how she was when she was in Alpha mode.
“Alright.
Just be careful.
The pack is still on edge.” “I will,” she said.
She picked up her car keys from his dresser and left his house.
The drive through the territory was quiet.
Raquelle drove straight back to her penthouse.
The whole place was completely silent when she unlocked the front door.
She went straight upstairs to her bathroom, took a long, hot bath, and washed off completely.
She made sure to scrub her hair until the leftover scent of blood was gone.
Then she changed into some comfy grey sweatpants and a loose t-shirt.
She went downstairs to the kitchen, her stomach rumbling.
She opened the fridge, took out some prepped rice and meat, and put the plates in the microwave to heat them up.
She quickly ate her own portion at the counter, chewing silently while staring at the wall.
Once she was done, she wiped her mouth and opened her medical cabinet.
She took out a small needle filled with a liquid wolf-sedative that she kept for rogue containment.
She picked up the other plate of hot food and walked toward the small, locked storage room at the back of the penthouse hallway.
She turned the metal key in the deadbolt and pushed the heavy wooden door open.
Chloe was still on the floor where Raquelle had kicked her chair down the night before.
The chair was still broken on its side.
But the eighteen-year-old girl had managed to move around on the floor and adjust herself into a more comfortable position against the brick wall.
Chloe’s eyes snapped open the second the light from the hallway hit her face.
She looked completely exhausted, her eyes bloodshot, and her face was covered in dried tears from crying all night.
Raquelle walked in and placed the plate of hot food on a low side table.
She didn’t look furious like she did yesterday.
She was completely calm, which made her look even more terrifying to the younger girl.
“Don’t even try to scream,” Raquelle said, her voice flat.
She stepped behind Chloe, uncapped the needle, and jabbed it straight into the side of her neck, pressing the plunger down.
Chloe gasped, tensing her shoulders up as the cold liquid went into her veins.
Within seconds, her wolf let out a dull whimper inside her head and went completely weak, sinking deep into her subconscious.
The sedative worked fast, draining her.
Raquelle pulled the needle out and tossed it into the small bin by the door.
Then she bent down and quickly untied the tight ropes around Chloe’s hands.
“Your wolf is weak for the next six hours.
Don’t try anything stupid because you won’t be able to shift,” Raquelle told her, pointing a finger at the steaming table.
“Eat.” Chloe rubbed her sore, red wrists where the ropes had chafed her skin.
She looked at the hot food, and her stomach rumbled loudly in the small room.
She was terrified of the Alpha standing over her, but she was too hungry to care at this point.
She picked up the spoon with a shaking hand and started eating slowly.
Raquelle grabbed a wooden stool from the corner, pulled it over, and sat down right in front of her.
She crossed her arms over her chest, watching her chew.
“Now,” Raquelle muttered, staring at her with cold, gold eyes.
“Let’s have a real conversation, Chloe.
Tell me how George West contacts you inside my pack.” “He calls me,” Chloe said plainly.
She swallowed her food and looked at Raquelle like she was the most foolish person to ask such an obvious question.
Raquelle tilted her head, her jaw tightening slightly.
“Oh…
right.
But how did he get your phone number?
And how did you guys even meet in the first place?” “We bumped into each other in the city,” Chloe muttered, looking down at her plate so she wouldn’t have to make eye contact.
“I was there to get some stuff for school.
The moment we brushed shoulders, we knew we were mates already and…” “Yeah, that’s enough,” Raquelle cut her off.
“So from that moment, you just decided to betray your own pack and make innocent families suffer?
Very sweet of you.” Chloe looked down at her lap, her hands trembling so much she almost dropped her spoon.
“I…
I didn’t know what to do.
I didn’t know how to refuse my mate.” “Because he’s an Alpha, right?” Raquelle said knowingly, her tone mocking.
“If he was a random rogue wolf from the gutters, you wouldn’t have done it.
You’re just greedy, Chloe.
You wanted to ruin my pack from the inside, leave the mess behind, and go ahead to become his Luna.
You think that’s how Lunas act?
You think they’re a bitch like you?” Chloe stayed completely quiet.
She stared at the floor boards, not knowing what to say to defend herself.
Raquelle stepped closer, her sharp eyes scanning the teenager.
“Did you guys do it?” “Do what?” Chloe asked, looking genuinely confused.
“Mate,” Raquelle said, her voice getting irritated.
Chloe shook her head quickly, her hair falling over her face.
“No.
We haven’t had the time to do that yet.
We’ve only been talking on the phone.” “Damnit!” Raquelle cursed angrily, pacing across the small, dark room.
So they only marked each other.
Raquelle gritted her teeth in frustration.
She had wanted to force Chloe to reject him right now to weaken his wolf, but a full rejection can’t happen until the wolves actually mate and seal the bond completely.
As she stared at Chloe, she noticed a strange, sharp bulge in the girl’s pocket.
Raquelle didn’t hesitate.
She shoved her hand straight into the pocket, ignoring Chloe’s gasp, and grabbed the phone.
Chloe squirmed uncomfortably against the wall, trying to pull away from her hold.
“Hey!
Drop that!” Raquelle tapped the screen, and it immediately came alive in her palm.
She looked at the recent call logs, seeing a particular contact name, and smirked.
Chloe’s face went completely pale, all the color draining from her cheeks.
“Wh…
what are you gonna do with that?” “Just watch,” Raquelle said.
She pressed the call button on the last number displayed on the screen.
It only rang for three seconds before the line clicked, and the person on the other end picked up.
Raquelle placed the phone tightly against her ear, her face turning completely cold.
“Hello…
Alpha George.”
