I had hoped Meila would be able to handle it after seeing her true abilities earlier, but I never expected her to lose.Full novel: The Tainted World: Feared as a Monster, I Only Want to Survive — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

I had quickly cleared out the Blight using the five flying bullets.

I realized that I could control those bullets after awakening from that unconscious state, and I could even slash enemies without having to strike them directly.

It seemed that I had some kind of telekinetic ability or something similar.

It was useful, but I wasn’t sure if I could use it properly.

Was this an ability belonging to this body?

After all, this wasn’t my original body, so I had no idea what else this body was capable of.

Putting aside the matter of this body, there was another problem standing right in front of me.

A T-rex with enormous arms and the ability to fire plasma from its mouth was standing before me.

On top of that, this creature could talk.

This had to be the Nullifer everyone had been talking about.

I had tried to injure the creature, but because I wasn’t accustomed to my abilities yet, I missed and struck its horn instead.

Its horn broke.

So did the five bullets.

And now, it looked angry.

I had intended to return from that unconscious state, but facing this creature was something I had never imagined.

This new world was ridiculously difficult.

Was this world set to Hardcore difficulty?

God, please give this servant of Yours the strength to survive in this world.

“Die….

Hurt…

Perish…..” The T-rex slowly walked toward me as it spoke.

The thought of a T-rex from a Jurassic movie being able to talk was terrifying enough.

But this thing could also fire plasma.

A light began forming inside its mouth again.

Then a beam of red plasma shot toward me.

The world seemed to slow down.

I could clearly see the plasma heading straight toward me.

Even so, the beam was still incredibly fast despite everything around me appearing to move in slow motion.

I managed to dodge by tilting my body to the side, causing the plasma to pass right by me.

The Nullifer charged toward me with its enormous mouth wide open.

It tried to devour me, but fortunately, I managed to evade it by jumping backward.

I swung my sword and struck the edge of its mouth.

But the moment my sword hit it, it felt like I was trying to cut through a rock.

As I expected.

It was incredibly hard.

I had seen a T-rex skeleton in a museum before, so I knew how thick and sturdy its bones were.

The Nullifer spun its body.

Its thick tail slammed into me.

I was sent flying and rolled across the ground several times.

I tried to get back up as quickly as possible, but I didn’t expect it to swing its enormous arm at me while charging forward.

It felt like being hit by a speeding container truck.

As a result, I was sent flying again and rolled across the ground before finally crashing into the defensive wall.

I hoped none of my bones were broken.

Fortunately, my body hadn’t been crushed.

If I had taken a hit like that while I was in my old body, I probably would’ve been reduced to a mess.

Part of the wall I had crashed into collapsed, and several pieces of masonry fell from the impact site.

I also had to wonder…

Just how tough was this body?

Forget it.

No matter how durable this body was, I could still feel pain.

Seeing the rubble from the wall made me wonder if I could control something other than bullets, perhaps objects of different sizes.

I focused my mind and tried to make the pieces of rubble float.

Fortunately, it worked.

Although they weren’t particularly stable.

Whatever.

I would do anything to defeat that bipedal lizard.

The Nullifer charged toward me.

I threw several pieces of rubble at it.

The Nullifer managed to knock them away, but unfortunately for it, that was only a feint.

I targeted its legs instead.

And the plan worked.

One of the Nullifer’s legs was struck by a piece of rubble, making it stumble before crashing to the ground.

Before it could get back up, I rushed toward it and tried to slash its body.

But for some reason, its skin felt like crocodile hide that had been reinforced several times over.

I was having a hard time even injuring it.

I climbed onto its body, but the Nullifer had already gotten back up.

It began making several sudden movements, violently shaking its body in an attempt to throw me off.

Fortunately, I held tightly onto the crystal spikes covering its body and managed to stay on top of the creature despite its attempts to shake me off.

I tried stabbing my sword into its body several times, but every attempt failed.

Then I noticed a small opening between the crystal spikes.

I stabbed into it.

Finally, my attack succeeded.

“GROAAAR…” The creature looked furious.

“REVENGE…..

PAIN…

DIE….” Every time this creature spoke, it sent chills through me.

Honestly, even though I had the determination to overcome my fear, fear wasn’t something that could simply be defeated through sheer willpower.

The Nullifer slammed its body against the wall several times.

The impact made it difficult for me to hold on, and pain shot through my body every time I was smashed against the wall.

I hadn’t even realized that I had been bleeding this entire time.

Even so…

I didn’t want to die just like this.

The creature shook its body again.

I released my grip and was thrown upward, landing above its head.

“Got you.” This time, I was on top of its head, gripping the remaining horn tightly.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, I attacked one of the vital points of any living creature.

Its eye.

“GROAAAAAAAAAAAAA………” The creature let out a deafening roar, making my ears ring.

It grabbed me with one of its enormous arms, its sharp claws piercing into my abdomen.

Then it slammed me into the ground with tremendous force.

The creature immediately tried to stomp on me, but I managed to roll away at the last second and quickly created some distance between us.

Getting too close to a large enemy was dangerous.

The hole in my abdomen was a serious problem.

The pain was painfully real.

The bipedal lizard and I had both been wounded at almost the same time.

Then I saw someone approaching from behind the Nullifer.

It was Meila.

Wait…

How was she walking?

And why did her body look like that?

Her hair had turned white.

Her eyes were black, but her pupils had become white.

Her skin had turned completely dark.

A wide smile stretched across her face despite the blood flowing from her body.

Why were there two terrifying beings standing in front of me?

“You damn lizard.

My business with you isn’t over yet.” “I was careless enough to let my comrade nearly die.” “Val, thank you for protecting Arturia.” The Nullifer’s single remaining eye widened.

I couldn’t believe Meila had gotten back up either.

I thought she was dead.

“Looks like you’re surprised, huh, you damn lizard?” “Let me tell you something about my magic.” Meila stretched both arms.

“The more cornered I become, the stronger I get.” Oh…

I see.

So Meila’s ability was basically the more she was beaten down, the stronger she became.

If I were her opponent in a sparring match, I’d probably end up being the one getting destroyed.

Ding.

A metallic clang rang out as Meila struck together the gauntlets covering both of her hands.

“TIME FOR ROUND TWO!” Meila grinned widely, revealing her teeth.

Her face was covered in blood, and her pupils seemed to glow.

Where had the beautiful Meila from before gone?

She looked like a vengeful ghost now.

No…

A cursed spirit would probably be a more accurate description.
