After returning from Silver Lake Mansion, Wen Song resumed his routine of traveling between three points: home, the company, and the hospital, occasionally branching out to banquets and friend activities that Zhao Mingzhuo invited him to attend.
Whether it was because he was overly sensitive or due to some other reason, Guan Sui was present at every single gathering.
The other man still maintained his cold and aloof demeanor, keeping his distance from the crowd and standing in a corner, seemingly unsure of what to do.
Moreover, Wen Song noticed that whether it was playing mahjong, drinking, or street racing, Zhao Mingzhuo was issuing invitations with extreme frequency for activities he normally wouldn’t have asked him to join. It looked rather suspicious, giving off the impression that he was deliberately taking Wen Song out to show him off.
Wen Song found the idea of showing off rather amusing.
What was there to show off about a Beta?
Sure enough, as soon as he arrived at the banquet villa provided by Zhao Mingzhuo, he heard people nearby chatting and discussing:
“Who is he? We’ve never seen him around before.”
“Wen Song. Brother Zhuo’s boyfriend.”
“Huh? Are you saying this Beta is Brother Zhuo’s what? A Beta without even any pheromones isn’t worthy of Brother Zhuo at all. How could he possibly be his boyfriend?”
“I bet Brother Zhuo is just playing around with him.”
“Shh, keep your voice down. Don’t let anyone hear.”
“A mere Beta.”
Wen Song was not deaf.
He heard the gossip behind his back crystal clear, including the disdainful and contemptuous tone.
Originally, Wen Song wanted to walk away and pretend he hadn’t heard anything, but unexpectedly, he heard a scream:
“Ah!”
The Omega who had just been running his mouth was drenched from head to toe by someone on the second floor who had poured a glass of red wine over him.
“Who is it?!” The Omega’s hair was soaked by the red wine, sticking together into strands as wine stains dripped down and smeared all over his face.
He looked utterly wretched.
The moment he raised his head, the vicious curses on his lips were swallowed back entirely upon encountering the Alpha holding an empty glass.
It was Guan Sui.
The big boss whom no one dared to provoke.
The culprit simply looked down at them with cold eyes, not showing a shred of apology.
Seeing this, a friend nearby immediately tried to smooth things over: “Brother Sui probably didn’t mean it. It’s fine, I’ll take you to the lounge to clean up and grab a clean change of clothes along the way.”
Even though the Omega harbored resentment in his heart, he didn’t dare throw a tantrum in front of Guan Sui.
This farce came to an end.
Wen Song hadn’t said a single word from beginning to end.
He raised his eyes toward the second-floor corridor, where half of the Alpha’s body was leaning over the railing. The other man’s slender eyes slanted down to eye the direction where he was standing, only to withdraw his gaze a second later, stand up straight, slip one hand into his pocket, and turn away with a cold expression.
Was Guan Sui helping him out?
But didn’t the other man hate him?
While pondering this, Wen Song walked through the crowd to the lounge to find Zhao Mingzhuo, who was playing mahjong.
To his surprise, Guan Sui was actually here as well.
Without even raising his head, the other man was huddled on the sofa playing with his mobile phone.
After saying a casual “You’re here,” Zhao Mingzhuo threw himself back into the game.
Wen Song simply stood nearby and watched them play.
After a moment, the phone in his pocket emitted a ding sound.
Fearing it might be something urgent from the hospital, Wen Song took out his phone and took a close look, only to find that someone had sent him an anonymous multimedia message.
The sender had sent a picture.
The internet connection was poor, so the loading progress was only at thirty percent. A moment later, it finished loading. Squinting his eyes and pinching the screen to zoom in on the figures, Wen Song finally saw that it was a picture of Zhao Mingzhuo and an unidentified Omega passionately kissing on the roadside.
Judging by the clothes, location, and time in the photo, he could blindly guess that this was Zhao Mingzhuo from the night before who had claimed he had matters to deal with.
Without overthinking it, Wen Song directly deleted the multimedia message and tossed it into the trash.
Having finished a round of mahjong, Zhao Mingzhuo finally spared some attention to glance at the Beta standing beside him. Noticing that the other man was too absorbed in his phone, he raised his tone and asked, “What are you looking at?”
Hearing this, Wen Song put away his phone and replied with an unchanged expression, “Nothing, spam messages.”
Over on the sofa, Guan Sui wore a cold expression, his slender and well-proportioned fingers toying with his phone. The screen was lit up, displaying precisely the message-sent-successfully interface.
Upon hearing Wen Song’s lukewarm tone, a certain fluctuation emanated from the Alpha’s pheromones.
The Alpha sitting beside him gasped for air, choked by the pheromones: “Brother Sui, reel in your pheromones, it’s terrifying! Low-ranked Alphas like us can’t handle the wrath of your rut.”
Guan Sui lowered his eyelids and extinguished the phone screen.
“Sorry.”
“A bit annoyed by the rut.”
The Alpha laughed and said, “Find an Omega to get off with.”
“Not needed,” Guan Sui said indifferently.
The Alpha knew Guan Sui was a man of integrity, whose temperament merely carried a bit of hostility and coldness. While some powerful Alphas in the circle treated having many people around them as a form of entertainment, the man always kept himself disciplined.
He had even once launched a sharp attack on an Omega at a banquet who was releasing pheromones to seduce him, ruthlessly saying that the Omega’s pheromones smelled so foul it made him want to vomit.
The Alpha smiled. “I was just joking.”
At the other mahjong table, Zhao Mingzhuo pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and tapped the table with two fingers.
“Care to play a hand?”
Wen Song shook his head. “I don’t know how to play mahjong.”
Zhao Mingzhuo exhaled a ring of smoke and hooked the corner of his lips. “I’ll teach you.”
Wen Song didn’t refuse and asked, “Then where should I sit?”
An Alpha with dyed red hair sitting opposite them teased, “Sit on Brother Zhuo’s lap, of course.”
“Bang!”
A relatively loud sound of colliding glass suddenly echoed through the lounge.
Everyone present, including Wen Song, turned their gazes toward the source of the sound in unison.
Though stared at by over a dozen pairs of eyes, Guan Sui maintained his calm expression and stated concisely, “Hand slipped.”
“You guys continue.”
The scene returned to its previous liveliness.
Wen Song lowered his eyelids. “I’ll just sit nearby.”
In the end, Zhao Mingzhuo gave up his seat, brought over a chair, and sat beside him for a one-on-one mahjong tutorial.
During this time, an Omega handed a drink to Zhao Mingzhuo. Zhao Mingzhuo didn’t drink it and handed it straight to Wen Song instead.
This caused the Omega’s face to instantly turn pale with anger.
Wen Song knew that the Omega harbored tiny thoughts of wanting to show off some ambiguity between himself and Zhao Mingzhuo right in front of him. Unfortunately, an Alpha like Zhao Mingzhuo appeared affectionate yet was actually heartless.
I’m afraid this Omega’s methods were used in the wrong place.
Perhaps due to staying up late accompanying patients the night before, Wen Song now felt a bit tired, his head growing dizzy. After playing a few rounds without ever getting into the zone, he stopped and looked for an excuse to find a room to rest for half an hour.
Before leaving, Wen Song cast a glance at the sofa.
He discovered that Guan Sui had already left without a word.
Perhaps it was his imagination, but he always felt the other man looked wrong. His emotions were gloomy, like a layer of dark mist brewing on the eve of a storm, quietly waiting for the moment of explosion.
Which made sense.
He had just heard that the other man was currently in his rut.
And Guan Sui wasn’t an Alpha with a good temper to begin with.
Regardless of whether the other man was good or bad, the fact that he had stood up for him meant Wen Song couldn’t possibly classify him as the latter.
Walking down the hallway, he felt his vision blur.
Wen Song propped up his head, feeling his consciousness slowly slipping away.
Walking down the corridor and turning a corner to stand before a door, he couldn’t distinguish the room number. He pressed down on the door handle, but it didn’t open. The next moment, the door was pulled open from the inside.
“Hello?”
He saw a sturdy, powerful, and muscular hand reach out from within, grabbing Wen Song’s wrist. The disparity in their strength left no time for him to break free as he was violently yanked inward.
The door was slammed shut with tremendous force, emitting a sharp crash.
Amidst a spinning world, Wen Song was pushed back against the door, the rigid solid wood pressing hard enough to cause a hint of pain.
The room lights were off, plunging it into a darkness so absolute that it was impossible to recognize who stood before him.
The only thing he knew for certain was that the person was an Alpha.
“You!”
Wen Song felt somewhat dizzy and lightheaded, inexplicably sensing his entire body heating up.
The pain caused his consciousness to snap back for a split second.
What is going on?
Wen Song instantly detected a hint of abnormality, realizing in a flash that he had been drugged.
In his daze, the Alpha who had pinned both his hands behind his head gradually pressed in close.
A chilly nose tip lightly brushed against his cheek.
Wild tequila pheromones drilled into his nasal cavity.
Though a Beta, Wen Song was different from others; he could smell pheromones from Alphas and Omegas experiencing their ruts or heat periods without being affected by them.
The Alpha who was holding onto him and refusing to let go possessed the scent of tequila.
Then that person…
Wasn’t it precisely Guan Sui, who had left early?
At this moment, Wen Song’s rationality was stretched as taut as a string. He wanted to struggle with all his might, but his whole body lacked strength while his body temperature progressively rose, turning burning hot.
“Guan Sui.”
“Wake up.”
Noticing Guan Sui’s lingering kisses falling on the corner of his lips, Wen Song’s sensitive body immediately reacted. Feeling as though he were facing a formidable enemy, he swiftly averted his face to dodge the kiss, attempting to rouse the other man’s consciousness.
“Look closely at who I am!”
Guan Sui’s cool voice was extremely husky as he uttered an affirmative.
“Wen Song.”
“Will you let me sleep with you?”
Wen Song’s pupils constricted sharply. Before he could voice his refusal, the Alpha extended the tip of his tongue to lightly lick and nibble at the side of his neck.
The sounds of their breathing intertwined ambiguously within the dark environment.
Hot breaths spilled against the side of his neck, causing goosebumps to erupt across his pale skin, his blood pulsing and his emotions turbulent. Lowering his voice with a drawn-out ending, the other man spoke word by word:
“You can sleep with me too.”
