The passion of young men, once ignited, becomes completely unstoppable.
Over the next few days, the four of them shared a single mind. By gathering information through various channels, they actually managed to collect quite a bit of useful intelligence.
It turned out that the group of people who had humiliated Li He consisted of a few second-generation wealthy heirs led by Chen Meng.
Speaking of Chen Meng, one had to mention Chen Industries. The business development of Chen Industries had been going very well over recent years, reportedly because they had managed to cozy up to a major foreign capitalist.
Chen Meng was the much-adored late-in-life child of Chen Yin, the chairman of Chen Industries. He had stirred up no small amount of trouble over the years, but his old man had always managed to sweep everything under the rug in the end.
Yan Xun frowned. “Putting it that way, trying to rely on the Chen family to uphold justice and rein in Chen Meng is practically impossible.”
Zhang Yi and the others nodded in agreement, then immediately looked at Yan Xun with eager, hopeful eyes.
Yan Xun remained completely unfazed. “Since Chen Meng has the indulgence and protection of the Chen family, if we want to deal with him, we must make sure the Chen family is unable to protect him.”
The Chen family had shielded Chen Meng after all the terrible things he had done, so what kind of situation was there that the Chen family could not protect him from?
Li He and Lin Xing also grew somewhat discouraged.
Li He began to have second thoughts. “Forget it, let us just drop it. We are just ordinary everyday citizens, and we simply cannot compete with people from that circle.”
He awkwardly forced a corner of his mouth upward, speaking with feigned casualness:
“As a grown man, I am not that fragile. If I get bullied, I get bullied; life still has to go on. As for my girlfriend, seeing her true colors is not necessarily a bad thing.”
He spoke casually, but everyone in the dorm knew he was just pretending that everything was fine.
Ever since that incident, Li He had become thoroughly depressed, hardly ever getting a full night’s sleep, and the dark circles under his eyes were strikingly obvious.
Yan Xun threw an arm around Li He’s neck. “Forget what? You are our boss, and your business is our brothers’ business. I was not finished talking yet. Why are you in such a rush to give up?”
As soon as he said that, all three of them turned their gazes intently toward him.
“You have a way?”
Yan Xun let out a cold chuckle and gestured for the three of them to lean in closer.
“You all said that we cannot compete with people from that circle, so we will just have people from that circle fight Chen Meng!”
A single sentence was enough to part the dark clouds and reveal the bright moon.
Zhang Yi asked, “You mean borrowing a knife to kill someone?”
Yan Xun nodded. “Correct.”
Zhang Yi seemed to think of something, then shook his head.
“According to the information we gathered, this bastard Chen Meng may cause a lot of trouble, but he also knows how to read the room. Whenever he encounters someone in his circle whom he dares not provoke, he plays it safe. This bastard specifically picks on ordinary people like us to bully.”
Yan Xun sneered. “If he does not provoke us proactively, we will find a way to manufacture an opportunity for conflict.”
After a brief pause, he continued, “Evil is always met with a greater evil. We just need to find someone even more ruthless than Chen Meng to serve as our breakthrough point.”
The revenge plan now had a direction, but while it was easy to talk about, execution was extremely difficult.
After all, the greenhorns of Room 304 were not part of that social circle, and finding a knife that could deal with Chen Meng without any scruples was no easy task.
Still, as the saying went, a gentleman takes revenge ten years later; they were not in a rush.
Yan Xun got so busy that he lost track of time. On Saturday morning, when Bai Yang called, he was momentarily stunned.
Bai Yang seemed to be out jogging, and his voice in the phone carried a slight pant.
“What have you been busy with these days?”
Yan Xun rubbed his hazy, sleepy eyes, yawned, and casually replied, “Busy plotting revenge.”
“Revenge?”
Bai Yang’s footsteps paused, a flicker of cold light flashing through his eyes. “What, did someone bully you?”
Yan Xun let out a long sigh, hesitated for a moment, and said, “Not me, it concerns my buddy. But I cannot casually disclose his privacy to you.”
Upon hearing this, Bai Yang did not press further. “Understood. Keeping secrets is a commendable virtue.”
Yan Xun climbed out of bed while on the phone and chuckled. “Brother, I just knew you were a sympathetic and understanding person.”
He had a sweet mouth, and flattering words tumbled out one after another. Bai Yang was gradually growing accustomed to it.
Bai Yang said softly, “I have free time today.”
Yan Xun questioned, “Huh?”
For a moment, he did not understand what Bai Yang meant.
Bai Yang cleared his throat to remind him, “Functional training. Did you forget?”
Fireworks suddenly seemed to explode in Yan Xun’s mind. He spun around in place in sheer embarrassment, taking a good while to calm down.
Perhaps out of a guilty conscience, he secretly crept into the bathroom with his phone.
“Brother, I did not forget.”
He pressed his lips together. “It is just very unexpected.”
Bai Yang raised an eyebrow. “Embarrassed?”
Yan Xun remained silent, taking it as tacit agreement.
Bai Yang said with a serious tone, “Ignoring an illness out of fear of treatment, surely you understand this principle.”
Yan Xun let out another defeated sigh. “I understand, I understand everything. Brother, you are a very busy person, yet you still carved out time to keep my condition in mind. I am truly grateful.”
Bai Yang cut him off. “Then let us do it today?”
Yan Xun felt so awkward he wanted to dig a hole with his toes. A moment later, he gritted his teeth and agreed.
“Alright, then I will come find you!”
He thought about it carefully. In the upper circles of Beijing, Bai Yang seemed to be his only connection. Since that was the case, it was the perfect opportunity to ask Bai Yang about the tyrants of that social circle.
After hanging up, Yan Xun washed up and prepared to leave.
He grabbed his backpack, and just as he pulled open the door, he saw Li He returning with breakfast for all four of them.
Seeing that Yan Xun was heading out, Li He asked casually, “It is a rare weekend. Why are you heading out so early?”
Yan Xun acknowledged him with a hum, snatched a steamed bun from the plastic bag in Li He’s hand, and ate as he walked.
“Yeah, I am going out.”
Forget it, he could not bring himself to say it.
Li He asked, “Where?”
Yan Xun said with a straight face, “Go buy breakfast at the third cafeteria next time. The buns at the second cafeteria are just too terrible.”
Li He replied, “Alright.”
The address Bai Yang sent was a luxury residential complex in the city center.
In the prime real estate of the city center, the value of a single apartment was by no means lower than a suburban villa.
Bai Yang seemed to have notified the security guards in advance, so Yan Xun passed through the residential gates smoothly.
Just as he walked up to the building entrance, he spotted Bai Yang sitting on a garden bench at a glance.
At this moment, Bai Yang was dressed in a black athletic tracksuit and wearing a sports headband, looking quite different from his usual suited-and-booted self.
A pretty woman, also dressed in sportswear, was bending down to speak with him. Her alluring figure made Yan Xun want to let out a whistle.
Holding her phone, the woman seemed to want to add Bai Yang as a friend, but Bai Yang’s expression remained very indifferent.
Who knew what Bai Yang said, but the pretty woman’s expression changed drastically before she turned around and walked away in a huff.
Yan Xun clicked his tongue in amazement and hurried over, dropping heavily onto the bench beside Bai Yang.
“Brother, was that beauty trying to flirt with you? What did you say to her? Her expression looked so awful.”
Bai Yang was slightly startled, turning his head to meet his curious gaze. “Want to know?”
Yan Xun nodded eagerly.
Bai Yang let out a chuckle, leaned in close to Yan Xun’s ear, and murmured gently:
“I told her I am already taken.”
