Bai Yang said, “I told her, my wife has arrived.”
Wife?
Yan Xun widened his eyes, and it took him quite a while to realize who Bai Yang was referring to as “wife.”
With a bitter expression, he complained, “Brother, it has been so long, and you are still using this to tease me!”
Bai Yang neither confirmed nor denied it, his smile only growing deeper.
“Have you eaten breakfast?”
Yan Xun shook his head. “Don’t ask. I suspect the auntie who cooks at our cafeteria specialized in cursed cuisine. The filling in that steamed bun tasted like snot. I only took one bite and almost barfed up last night’s dinner.”
Watching his vivid expressions as he ranted, the corners of Bai Yang’s mouth curved into an elegant arc.
“Sounds like you are carrying quite a bit of resentment.”
Yan Xun rolled his eyes. “I am so hungry right now I could eat an entire ox. How could I not be resentful?”
Bai Yang’s smile grew even more doting as he stood up. “Let us go. I will take you to get breakfast.”
Yan Xun lit up at once. “Brother, I knew it. Following you means I will definitely get to eat well!”
Events proved that following you meant getting far more than just eating well.
The table full of sumptuous breakfast items truly opened Yan Xun’s eyes.
Chinese pastries, Western treats, baked goods, bread, and fruits were dazzling and readily available. Furthermore, the variety was vast and the quality was top-notch. Forget about eating them, just taking one look was satisfying.
Bai Yang raised his hand slightly. “I knew you were coming, so I had the auntie prepare these specially. Is this enough to eat?”
“Plenty!”
Yan Xun nodded vigorously in excitement.
Bai Yang chuckled. “Eat up.”
Yan Xun immediately acknowledged and began happily devouring the feast.
Bai Yang had already eaten, but seeing Yan Xun eat with such relish as he sat opposite him, he joined in and had a little more.
“You know,” Bai Yang said gently.
With food still in his mouth, Yan Xun’s speech was slightly slurred, his round eyes filled with confusion. “Wha ma?”
Bai Yang continued, “Not many people have visited this apartment, but you are the first person who has zero interest in its interior decoration.”
Decoration?
Prompted by this, Yan Xun finally noticed the apartment’s interior design.
Honestly, he knew nothing about this sort of thing. He only felt that the place looked high-end, but if you asked him to list details, he really couldn’t do it.
As a college student from an ordinary family, his exposure was limited to this. He wouldn’t feel inferior because of it, but he definitely wouldn’t pretend to understand what he didn’t.
Even the paintings hanging on the walls looked somewhat familiar, resembling famous works he used to study in textbooks.
With that thought, Yan Xun couldn’t help asking, “Those paintings are they real?”
Bai Yang nodded casually.
Yan Xun thought to himself: Ah.
Never mind. He didn’t dare ask how much they cost, for fear of being scared to death.
Bai Yang picked up a tissue and reached out to wipe the corner of Yan Xun’s mouth. “Just a few paintings, nothing important. Focus on eating properly.”
Yan Xun was about to nod when he suddenly paused and shrank back.
“Brother, I am a grown man. Do not help me wipe my mouth. It makes me look way too girly.”
Bai Yang raised an eyebrow, chuckled in a low voice, and said, “Alright.”
Only then did Yan Xun sit up straight and continue eating.
While eating, he pondered to himself that Bai Yang was great at everything, except for being overly meticulous and thoughtful to a degree that felt a bit overwhelming.
Yan Xun devoured more than half of the breakfast spread.
Satiated and idle, Yan Xun collapsed onto the sofa after eating and drinking his fill, instantly remembering the main purpose of this trip.
As their eyes met, both of them saw the mutual awkwardness in each other’s gaze.
Bai Yang cleared his throat and said somewhat helplessly, “I have no experience either. You mentioned earlier finding tutorial videos, so you were supposed to be in charge of that.”
Yan Xun thought to himself: Oh no.
Splendid, the initiative had been handed back to him.
What was originally just awkwardness now came with a dash of a guilty conscience.
Biting the bullet, Yan Xun spoke up. “Um, of course. After all, it is my own business. It is great that you can help out at all. How could I possibly let you worry about such minor things?”
Bai Yang gave a shallow acknowledgment. “Mm.”
Then he simply waited with a calm expression.
Irritated, Yan Xun pulled out his phone, feeling the absolute resolution of someone being driven to desperate measures.
As a hot-blooded college student, his dorm mates and he had certainly watched plenty of action movies together, but those involved normal men and women. He had never once considered what two men could possibly do.
Where was he supposed to find resources on such short notice?
Bai Yang saw right through him without exposing him, leaving only a faint smile lingering at the corners of his mouth.
A moment later, Yan Xun trembling handed over his phone in silence, his entire face flushed completely red.
“Uh, I could not find a video, just a few pictures. Is that alright?”
Bai Yang leaned in to look at the pictures with him.
After just a fleeting glance, he looked away.
“Let us give it a try. This kind of thing depends on the feeling. As long as you think it works, then it works.”
Yan Xun nodded and glanced around their surroundings.
It was broad daylight, and they were in a massive living room. Feeling a bit uneasy, he lowered his voice and suggested, “How about we go to the bedroom?”
Bai Yang naturally went along with him.
“Alright.”
The two of them stood up and walked one after the other toward the bedroom.
The curtains in the bedroom were drawn. Once the door clicked shut, the room was left in deep darkness filled with the faint sound of heavy breathing.
Yan Xun was extremely nervous, his palms slick with sweat. He stood frozen right after entering the door without daring to move.
He could sense that Bai Yang was standing right in front of him, and getting closer by the second.
Suddenly, a wave of heat brushed against his ear, as if Bai Yang had leaned in close to speak.
Bai Yang’s voice carried a suppressed tremble.
“Do not be nervous. Relax.”
Yan Xun gave a gruff acknowledgment, while inwardly pondering to himself.
He was telling him not to be nervous? Yet Bai Yang’s own voice was clearly shaking.
Sigh, this really was tough on the guy.
As a bro, Bai Yang was making a massive sacrifice.
Filled with growing gratitude, Yan Xun immediately declared in a loud voice, “Brother! Do it, I am ready!”
That do-or-die tone sounded like he was heading off to a battlefield.
In the darkness, Bai Yang couldn’t help letting out a laugh.
Two minutes later, Yan Xun’s world collapsed all over again!
The pictures he had so carefully found didn’t come in handy at all.
The mental preparation he had painstakingly built up crumbled before Bai Yang even made a move for five seconds, and he surrendered entirely once more.
The double blow sent Yan Xun scurrying straight into the bathroom, where he didn’t dare come out for ages.
Separated by the door panel, Bai Yang didn’t rush to offer concern. Instead, a smile played at his lips as he said:
“I have some work matters to handle in the study. You go ahead and play by yourself in the living room after you finish showering. There is a game console out there.”
Yan Xun responded with a blushing face, letting out a secret sigh of relief.
Footsteps sounded as Bai Yang seemingly walked away from the door.
Slumping his shoulders powerlessly, Yan Xun looked down at himself, then raised his head to stare at his reflection in the mirror.
His face was so flushed it looked like it could drip water.
He began muttering to himself, attempting to use verbal pep talks to pump himself up and boost his morale.
“Yan Xun, oh Yan Xun, you better show some backbone! If you keep going like this, how are you ever going to get a date or find a wife?”
“Ah, my future wife, if we can live happily together in the future, you must definitely thank Brother Bai properly!”
“When we get married, we are definitely seating Brother Bai at the head table!”
