Xia You curled the corner of her mouth and directly pulled a card out of her bag, handing it to the saleswoman. "Wrap this bag up for me."
The moment the saleswoman saw that gleaming gold card, her eyes lit up, and her attitude toward Xia You became several times more courteous. "Of course, miss. I'll process that for you right away."
Xia Xing's face turned extremely ugly, but she refused to believe Xia You had money. "Xia You, stop pretending. There's no way you have money."
Xia Shu and Xia Mu, the two brothers, also looked puzzled at the card.
"Where did you get the money?" Xia Shu's tone carried an icy interrogation.
Xia Mu was even more furious. "Are you insane? Why do you have to fight with Xiao Xing over things? Can't you see she had her eye on this bag first?"
Xia You smiled. "What I buy is none of your damn business. Do we even have a relationship? Besides, just because you're broke doesn't mean I'm not allowed to shop."
That one sentence left both brothers speechless.
If she were a member of the Xia family, they had never once acknowledged her as their sister.
But the saleswoman didn't care about any of that. She only cared about who was paying.
"Miss Xia, this bag was indeed first looked at by you. If you can pay for it now, we'll sell it to you. If you can't pay right now, then we'll sell it to this young lady."
Those words instantly provoked Xia Xing.
She was the eldest daughter of the Xia family. Was the saleswoman looking down on her, thinking she had no money?
"Who said I'm not buying it? Everyone knows in their own heart who's broke and who's faking it!"
She immediately turned to her two brothers. "Third Brother, Fourth Brother…"
With her pitiful eyes paired with her naturally cute face, she looked even more endearing.
Xia You only let out a cold, faint laugh.
She knew Xia Shu and Xia Mu couldn't afford to buy this bag for her.
The bag was worth a fortune. Xia Shu and Xia Mu were still in school, and their allowance couldn't cover it.
Plus, Xia Xing often threw tantrums demanding they buy her gifts, so they wouldn't have any extra money on hand.
A hint of hesitation appeared on both brothers' faces.
Xia Shu: "Xiao Xing, how about we buy it next time?"
Xia Mu: "Yeah, Mom's allowance is all spent… Next month, your brothers will pool some money together to buy it for you, okay?"
Xia Xing's expression turned even uglier.
Xia You glanced at the saleswoman, who immediately understood and went to swipe the card.
Xia You casually pointed at a few more bags. "And this one, and that one too. Wrap them all up for me."
"Right away, miss. I'll get those wrapped for you." The saleswoman was all smiles.
Meanwhile, Xia Xing, who had just been agonizing over a single bag, now felt her face burning as if she'd been slapped several times over.
Xia Shu and Xia Mu exchanged a glance.
"Xia You, where did you get the money?!" Xia Shu demanded in a low voice. "Did you do something dirty?"
Xia Mu looked utterly incredulous. "You actually have money? Where did it come from?"
Soon, the card was swiped, and all the bags were wrapped up for Xia You.
It was at that moment that Secretary Wu walked in. "Miss, have you finished selecting everything?"
Xia You smiled. "Yes. Though I ran into a few dogs that wouldn't stop barking."
Xia Mu's face immediately flooded with rage, and he moved to throw a punch. "Xia You, what did you say?! Have you lost your mind? Don't forget I'm your damn brother!"
Secretary Wu moved with lightning speed, grabbing Xia Mu's hand with one hand, rendering his arm completely immobile.
Xia Mu: "Let go of me!"
Xia You said calmly, "Is that so? I don't recall having any brothers. I'm an orphan, you know? The kind whose household registry has only one person on it—me. And I suspect your family has the super-male gene, so I'd suggest getting yourselves checked at the hospital."
Xia Shu and Xia Mu: "…"
Was Xia You out of her damn mind? An orphan with only herself on the household registry? Wasn't she basically cursing their entire family to die off?
Xia Xing looked at Secretary Wu, then at Xia You, and her face filled with disbelief. "You… you're being kept by someone? That's how you have money, right? Xia You, how could you be so degenerate?! Do you have any idea that if Mom and Dad found out about this, they'd be so disappointed!"
Secretary Wu wanted to explain, but Xia You stopped him.
"Then hurry home and tell them. You can't even afford a bag—the Xia family's precious daughter is doing worse than a kept woman like me."
Xia Xing's eyes reddened with fury. "You… you shameless thing!"
Xia You gave Secretary Wu a look, and he immediately stepped forward to pick up all the bags.
Xia You cast a sidelong glance at them and prepared to leave, but just as she stepped out of the store, she turned back around.
As if remembering there was something she hadn't done yet.
Then she delivered a slap across Xia Xing's face.
