The director’s face went pale as he heard the bodyguard’s words. He hadn’t expected the hospital’s major shareholder’s son to show up. Without missing a beat, he kicked the bald doctor and snapped, “Apologize to Young Master Yang now, or you’re fired!”

The director had no interest in finding out what happened; his only priority was calming Yang Lu’s anger. His position could be on the line.

“I’m sorry, Young Master Yang! It was my fault, I—” the doctor stammered.Full novel: The Villain Who Slapped the Heroines Until They Begged to Marry Him — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Get lost.”

“No, please, Young Master Yang! I have a family to support; I can’t lose my job!” he begged, a drastic change from his earlier arrogance. He knew he’d only gotten this position through connections, and if he lost it, he was truly out of options.

Smack!

“You heard the Young Master. Now leave, or I’ll break your legs!” The bodyguard snarled, slapping the doctor hard. The doctor, dazed and humiliated, slinked away, realizing his career was over.

Across the room, Song Weiwei felt a rush of relief and satisfaction. That doctor had treated her terribly, and now he’d received his punishment. But then her face fell as she thought about her brother’s medical bills. Yet just as she started to despair, something happened that she never could have expected.

“Bring the best doctors here and make sure this boy receives the treatment he needs,” Yang Lu ordered, glancing at the hospital director. “I’ll cover all the costs. Understood?” This chapter is updated first at NovelPing.

“Yes, yes, Young Master! I’ll handle everything right away,” the director replied, practically tripping over himself to comply.

Song Weiwei could hardly believe her ears. This stranger had come over, handled the situation, and now was offering to pay for her brother’s care. She was overwhelmed.

Yang Lu’s bodyguard looked on, puzzled. He knew his Young Master well and couldn’t imagine him helping someone so freely. Song Weiwei was beautiful, yes, but if Yang Lu wanted to meet attractive women, he didn’t need to go out of his way like this.

“Thank you, Young Master Yang! Truly, thank you!” Song Weiwei said, falling to her knees before him, overcome with gratitude. Yang Lu had saved her family.

The nurses nearby watched the scene, smiling at what seemed like a rare happy ending—justice had been served, and a child would receive the care he needed. They expected Yang Lu to gently help Song Weiwei up and offer reassuring words. However, what he did next left everyone stunned.

Smack!

Yang Lu slapped Song Weiwei, and she sat there, bewildered, covering her now-red cheek. Why had he helped her only to strike her? She and everyone around them were speechless.

Song Weiwei, trembling, slowly got to her feet. Once she was up, Yang Lu spoke again.

“No matter who you are, dignity is everything. There are plenty of ways to show gratitude, but kneeling is the lowest and most pathetic.” He paused, looking directly into her eyes. “This is the first and last time. Don’t let your hardships make you abandon your self-respect. Your future holds countless possibilities.”

She was overwhelmed by his words, feeling like a long-buried part of her had been reawakened. She had once been proud and ambitious, but the harshness of life had dulled her spirit. Now, with Yang Lu’s slap and his words, she felt a surge of strength and resolve. Tears streamed down her face, and she choked out, “Thank you… Thank you, Young Master Yang.”

At first, she had thought Yang Lu was a madman for hitting her, but now she understood. He had reminded her of her lost self-worth, and she couldn’t express her gratitude enough.

“Oh my! He’s not only rich and handsome but also wise and compassionate!” one of the nurses murmured, starry-eyed.

The other nurses stared at Yang Lu with admiration, each feeling deeply moved. The hospital director, too, seemed affected, his voice shaking as he muttered, “We… we really underestimated him.”

However, the bodyguard was the most stunned of all. He’d worked for Yang Lu long enough to think he knew him, but today he’d seen a side he never imagined existed. Was this even real?

Yang Lu ignored the looks from everyone around him as the system chimed in his mind.
