“You two are just a pair of little piglets.”

As soon as Yan Shijun finished speaking, the twins immediately showered Yan Yu’s cheeks with loud kisses, covering her entire face in slobber.

Even though they were her own children, Yan Yu couldn’t take it anymore. She quickly held them back.

“Even though Mommy loves you both, you can’t repay kindness with this kind of attack! Look at what you’ve done to my face. Now hurry up and go to sleep.”

“Mommy, Younger Brother and I want to go to the amusement park tomorrow. Can you take us?” Yan Shiyao blinked her big eyes at Yan Yu as hard as she could.

Yan Yu snorted.

“I was wondering why you two suddenly came to bother me. So you were plotting something all along.”

Other people’s children quietly caused trouble.

Her two little rascals were the exact opposite.

They always had little tells before they stirred up trouble.

“I just happen to be free from seeing patients tomorrow, so I’ll take you.”

Thinking that the children had never visited Shengjing’s amusement park before, Yan Yu finally agreed.

Her thoughts couldn’t help drifting back to the days when her father had taken her there as a child.

Those memories had been so innocent…

So beautiful.

Although she had grown up without a mother, she had always had her father’s patient companionship.

No matter how busy he was, he had never forgotten a promise he made to her.

Until six years ago.

He had gone abroad on a business trip and never returned.

That had been the only promise he had ever failed to keep.

She sighed softly.

She herself had been living a full life, yet her father’s fate remained unknown.

Before she realized it, tears began falling uncontrollably onto the bedsheets.

This wasn’t the first time the twins had seen Yan Yu like this.

They knew exactly why she was crying.

Yan Shiyao took Yan Shijun’s hand, and the two climbed off the bed together.

A moment later, one returned with tissues while the other brought a cup of warm water.

Yan Shijun gently wiped the tears from Yan Yu’s face with the tissue.

Meanwhile, Yan Shiyao held out the cup.

“Mommy, don’t be sad. Drink some water. When you cry, Younger Brother’s heart and mine hurt so much. If Grandpa were here, his heart would hurt too.”

Yan Yu sniffled.

She took the tissue from her son’s hand, wiped the corners of her eyes, forced her tears back, and finished the warm water.

“Alright. Mommy isn’t crying anymore. Tomorrow I’ll take you to the amusement park. Now go to sleep early.”

Holding one child’s hand in each of hers, Yan Yu walked them back to their respective rooms.

After returning to her own room, she shut down her computer and went to bed.

The next day, she took Yaoyao and Junjun to the amusement park.

Since it was a weekday, there were fewer visitors than usual.

Yan Yu had deliberately chosen the very amusement park she had visited as a child.

Her mood became just as excited as the children’s.

The moment they entered the park, a giant teddy bear mascot enthusiastically wrapped her in a hug.

Children had absolutely no resistance to oversized cartoon mascots.

When they saw the bear hugging Yan Yu, they immediately clamored for hugs too.

But the bear only kept hugging Yan Yu.

Yan Shiyao and Yan Shijun walked behind the giant bear and hugged its legs, hoping it would finally notice them.

Yet the bear remained glued to Yan Yu, acting unusually affectionate.

Suddenly, both siblings froze.

Their little noses twitched.

Yan Shijun leaned close to Yan Shiyao’s ear and whispered,

“SisSis… why do I smell Daddy’s scent on this bear?”

“I smell it too. If only you smelled it, maybe it wouldn’t be Daddy. But I smell it too.”

She had also noticed that the perfume on the giant bear smelled exactly like Daddy’s.

“Daddy!”

Unable to contain himself, Yan Shijun hugged the bear’s leg and shouted loudly.

Inside the mascot costume, Jing Mocong’s entire body stiffened.

I’m done for… Yan Yu is going to recognize me.

Yan Yu’s eyes widened.

“Junjun, what are you calling him? He’s one of the park staff, not your father. Um… I’m sorry. My child is still young and sometimes says random things.”

Jing Mocong was speechless.

So…

His son had recognized him.

But his wife hadn’t?

His emotions became indescribably complicated.

As a result, Jing Mocong simply tightened his embrace around Yan Yu even more.

Yan Yu found the staff member rather strange.

Why was he still hugging her?

However, she didn’t think too deeply about it.

Yan Shiyao and Yan Shijun immediately became unhappy.

Pouting, they insisted that they wanted hugs too.

Afraid the twins would expose him, Jing Mocong reluctantly let go of Yan Yu and bent down to hug both children instead.

The surrounding children noticed that the giant bear was giving out hugs and all rushed over.

Within moments, Jing Mocong was surrounded by layer upon layer of excited children.

Taking advantage of the chaos, Yan Yu grabbed one child with each hand and hurried off to line up for the rides.

Standing in front of Yan Yu was a man around thirty-four or thirty-five years old.

He wore a tailored suit and held the hand of a little girl.

Smiling warmly, he greeted Yan Yu.

“You brought both children to the amusement park by yourself? Where’s your husband?”

Yan Yu smiled politely.

“I’m a single mother.”

A glimmer flashed through the man’s dark eyes.

“What a coincidence. I’m a single father.”

“Nini, say hello to Auntie.”

“Hello, Auntie.”

The little girl waved before turning to Yaoyao and Junjun.

“Hello, Big Brother. Hello, Big Sister.”

“Why don’t we spend the day together? We can look out for one another. My Nini is very shy. This is the first time I’ve ever seen her so enthusiastic. Sigh… it’s my fault. I’m always busy with work. I could only bring her here after taking time off.”

“You’re already doing a great job,” Yan Yu said understandingly. “You have to support your family and still make time to accompany your child.”

“I still think I’m too busy.”

“If I could find the right person and build a family together, maybe my daughter could receive more warmth and companionship.”

“For example, the motherly love she’s missing… or the fatherly love your children are missing.”

Yan Yu had no problem openly admitting she was a single mother.

But when the topic turned to fatherly love, she instinctively wanted to avoid it.

She wasn’t interested in romance between men and women.

Perhaps her children were simply destined to grow up without a father’s love.

“Have you ever considered getting remarried?” the man asked.

“I’m just curious about your thoughts. Since I have a daughter, I’d like to know what girls think about their fathers remarrying.”

“I…”

Just as Yan Yu was about to answer, someone suddenly tapped her on the shoulder.

She turned around.

A fair, well-defined hand rested on her shoulder.

For some reason, it looked oddly familiar.

Her gaze traveled up the arm.

The owner of the hand had removed the mascot gloves and lifted off the teddy bear’s oversized head, revealing a sharply contoured, strikingly handsome face.

Yan Yu stared in astonishment.

“Jing Mocong? Why are you here?”

“Who else would it be, honey? You and the children came to the amusement park. How could I not come with you?”

As he spoke, Jing Mocong stepped forward.

His other arm wrapped around Yan Yu’s waist, pulling her firmly into his embrace.

Then he looked coldly at the man opposite him.

“If you want to know how your daughter feels about you remarrying, why don’t you ask your daughter directly? Why are you asking my wife? My wife isn’t your daughter.”

The man spoke with a warning in his voice.

“Sir, please behave yourself. I studied psychology. From her expression alone, I can tell she isn’t your wife.”

He took out his phone and looked at Yan Yu.

“Do you need me to call the police for you?”

Jing Mocong raised an eyebrow.

“On what grounds are you calling the police on her behalf?”

“We just met.”

The man looked extremely displeased.

“Take your filthy hands off her.”

“You’re an interesting one.”

“We just met, yet you’re already this possessive of her.”

“We’re both men. Don’t think I can’t see what you’re after.”

“My children already have a father.”

“They don’t need to recognize someone else as one.”

“Isn’t that right, Yaoyao? Junjun?”

“That’s right, Daddy!”

Yan Shiyao nodded enthusiastically.

“Uncle, this is my Daddy.”

The man turned to Yan Yu.

“Didn’t you say you were a single mother? Were you lying? That’s going too far.”

Yan Yu had originally had quite a favorable impression of this single father.

She hadn’t expected Jing Mocong to be right.

The man had indeed taken a liking to her and wanted her to become his daughter’s stepmother.

“I am a single mother.”

“Believe it or don’t.”

“And I’m also a single mother who has no intention of remarrying.”

“So what exactly is your problem?”

“You don’t plan to remarry, yet you’re involved with another man.”

“You’re certainly one of a kind.”

“Your parents must be utterly ashamed of you.”

“Nini, let’s go.”

The man left with a dark expression, leading the little girl away.

A trace of coldness flickered through Jing Mocong’s eyes.

He gently pinched the soft flesh at Yan Yu’s waist.

“Take good care of yourself.”

“I’ll be right back.”
