Sebastian came over with a glass of wine, followed by a large group of relatives eager to flatter him.

He walked past Darius and stopped in front of Seraphina.

“Seraphina, originally, I wanted to introduce my younger brother to you and let you remarry.Full novel: The Worthless Son in Law Is the Nation’s Strongest Warrior — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He’s much better than I am.” He shook his head with a sigh.

“But now, it seems you don’t have that kind of luck.

Your taste in men is really terrible.” “Hey…” Malcolm and Helena sighed repeatedly.

If Darius hadn’t returned, Seraphina could have been with Sebastian’s younger brother.

Their family might have finally had a chance to rise again.

How could they not feel envious?

But what could they do now?

After the family dinner “Everyone, come to the old house.” Augustus looked around at the family.

“Tonight, I’m going to discuss the future development of the Vale Family and tomorrow’s banquet with my grandson-in-law.

You should all come and listen.

It will be good for you.” Malcolm and Helena immediately looked at Augustus expectantly.

If the Vale Family was willing to help them, their situation might finally improve.

But Augustus looked at them and said coldly, “Malcolm, your family can go home.” Malcolm hesitated “Dad, I—” “What about you?” Augustus interrupted impatiently.

“I don’t need you there.” His eyes fell on Darius.

“And your wonderful son-in-law just got out of prison.

He’s nothing but bad luck.

I don’t want that kind of misfortune brought into my home.” With that, Augustus turned and left with the others.

Before leaving, Sebastian and Cordelia stopped in front of Darius.

“Don’t disappoint us tomorrow night,” Sebastian said with a smirk.

“If you can’t get into the banquet, don’t tell anyone you know me.

I can’t afford to lose face in front of everyone.” Darius gave a cold smile “Who won’t be able to get in tomorrow is still uncertain.” “Well, well.” Sebastian laughed “Then we’ll wait and see.” Everyone left happily with their invitations.

Malcolm and Helena remained behind, sighing in frustration.

Malcolm finally turned and looked at Darius.

What if Darius had actually been capable of bringing honor to their family?

It was a pity that he had only just been released from prison.

At this point, even making a living was a problem.

Darius followed Seraphina home.

Compared to the Ashbourne Family, this place felt more like home.

There was a woman here who had waited for him for six years.

After they returned home, Darius took the initiative to sleep on the floor.

But Seraphina told him to sleep in the bed instead.

Later, Darius lay on the bed while Seraphina continued working at the desk “What are you doing?” Darius asked.

“There’s an ecological park development project in the western part of the city.

I’m writing a proposal because I want to try bidding for it.” She smiled faintly.

“Although I probably don’t even have a one percent chance of winning.” Darius watched her quietly.

The next evening, Seraphina still hadn’t complained about him or treated him coldly.

But as the time for the welcome banquet drew closer, she finally couldn’t hold it in any longer.

“Darius, I trusted you so much last night.

I put everything on the line for you.” She looked at him “But how am I supposed to believe you now?” Her voice was filled with frustration.

“The invitation.

I thought you would at least find a way to get one.

But since you came back last night, you haven’t even stepped outside the house.

You haven’t made a single phone call.” She shook her head.

“So what am I supposed to think?

That the invitation is just going to fall from the sky?” Malcolm and Helena also came over.

“What are you still waiting for?” Malcolm asked.

“Seraphina defended you so confidently last night.

If you can’t make this happen, our family won’t be able to hold our heads up in front of the rest of the Vale Family.” Darius glanced at the clock “It’s almost time.

Just come with me.” Using Malcolm’s SUV, the four of them soon arrived at Grandcrest Villa, the venue for the God of War’s welcome banquet.

Darius turned to Seraphina “Seraphina, I’ll prove to you now whether I can do it or not.” “Well, well.

You actually came?” The mocking voice was followed by Doug and the rest of the Logan Family.

They had arrived carrying expensive gifts boxes of fine wine, premium tea, wild ginseng, and other valuable items.

The Logan Family’s plan was simple.

They weren’t just here to attend the banquet.

They also wanted to use the opportunity to get closer to the General and win his favor.

Katie stepped in front of Sarah with a smile “Sarah, I didn’t expect you to actually come too!” Her eyes moved deliberately over Sarah and Levi “Let me see your invitation.” She smiled “It’s so easy to buy fake ones these days.” They had arrived carrying expensive gifts: fine wines, premium tea and other valuable items.

The Vale Family’s plan was simple.

They weren’t just here to attend the banquet.

They also hoped to use this opportunity to get closer to the God of War and win his favour.

Cordelia stepped in front of Seraphina with a smile “Seraphina, I didn’t expect you to come too.” Her eyes moved deliberately between Seraphina and Darius “Let me see your invitation.” She smiled mockingly “It’s easy to get fake ones these days.” Cordelia, Sebastian, and the others didn’t believe Darius could possibly have an invitation.

Who did he think he was?

An invitation to a banquet like this wasn’t something someone like him could get.

Impossible.

“I…” Seraphina hesitated.

Because they didn’t have an invitation.

Cordelia smiled.

“Why are you hesitating?

Let me see it.

What, is your invitation made of gold?” Seraphina lowered her head and remained silent.

Malcolm and Helena avoided everyone’s eyes as well.

Then Augustus spoke.

“Malcolm, take out your invitation.” “Dad, I…” Malcolm immediately panicked.

“What?” Augustus frowned.

“Did you not hear me?

Take out the invitation.” “Dad…” Malcolm took a deep breath.

Finally, he had no choice but to tell the truth “We don’t have an invitation.

Darius brought us here.” For a moment, there was silence.

Sebastian, Cordelia, and the others burst out laughing.

Augustus’s face darkened as he glared at Malcolm “You idiot!

I’m honestly ashamed to call you my son!” Feeling the mocking stares and hearing the merciless laughter around him, Malcolm’s face burned with humiliation.

At that moment, he truly hated Darius.

Whatever little dignity he had left in front of the Vale Family was gone.

Helena felt the same.

Seraphina’s expression turned bitter as well.

After tonight, their family would become an even bigger joke within the Vale Family.

“You don’t even have an invitation, and you came here hoping to attend the banquet?” Sebastian sneered.

“Let me tell you something.

Your family won’t be getting through that gate—not today, not ever.” Cordelia held Augustus’s arm.

“Grandpa, let’s go inside.

Don’t let their family ruin the mood for us.” “Exactly.

It’s embarrassing enough just being seen with them.” The members of the Vale Family shot Darius and his family one last look of disgust before heading toward the entrance.

Malcolm was about to say something when Darius suddenly smiled “Dad, just watch.” He glanced toward the entrance “They’re the ones who won’t be getting in.” Malcolm stared at him.

Had this man lost his mind?

Ahead of them stood the entrance to Grandcrest Villa.

Dozens of heavily armed security officers guarded the gates.

Their uniforms were immaculate.

Their weapons were loaded.

Their expressions were cold and unreadable.

No one could enter without authorization.

The Vale Family walked forward confidently, invitations in hand.

Darius stood behind them, completely calm.

Then The guards moved.
