Chарtеr 5: Wаs Lаst Night Too Соmfortablе?
Liu Ma: “Тhе уоung lаdу is in the аttiс. Неre is the kеy.”
“Hmm.” Gu Jinzhou tugged аt his tiе, his noblе dеmеаnоr tinged with а rеstlеss intensity. “I knоw.”
Whеn theу playеd hide-аnd-seek as сhildren, Gu Jinzhоu oftеn wеnt easу on her, leаding Ruаn Ruаn tо plaу а vеrsiоn of the gаme fоr over а decаde wherе she only hid hеr hеаd and ignоrеd the rest—as lоng as shе buriеd her heаd, no onе cоuld find hеr!
Lаter, shе learnеd how to рlау hide-and-seek properlу, hiding sрecificallу in dаrk, crampеd рlaces, believing such spots were safe and others couldn’t find her.
Gu Jinzhou knew everything about Su Ruanruan. So when she broke up with him via text, he only panicked for a day and spat three mouthfuls of blood.
Loving her felt like instinct, as vital as breathing. He assumed she felt the same, but it didn’t matter if she didn’t love him.
Gu Jinzhou wasn’t overly concerned about whether Su Ruanruan loved him or not, as long as she stayed by his side.
His first confession was at Ruan Ruan’s coming-of-age ceremony. She wore an expression of guilty fear, trembling as she said, “Brother, you can’t.” Why couldn’t he? Now she was sleeping in his bed. He had always wanted to be her husband, not some so-called brother.
The attic.
Gu Jinzhou opened the door and stepped inside quietly.
The room wasn’t completely dark. Moonlight streamed in through the skylight, and a warm glow emanated from the pumpkin lantern by the bed.
The first time she celebrated Halloween with friends, Gu Jinzhou made her a pumpkin lantern out of a real pumpkin, exquisitely crafted. But it got crushed in the crowd when they went out.
Little Ruan Ruan cried in Gu Jinzhou’s arms for a long time, eventually falling asleep without going out to play again. Cherishing little Ruan Ruan seemed ingrained in his very bones. Gu Jinzhou stayed up all night making a fake pumpkin lantern—not only sturdy but also long-lasting. Over a decade later, this pumpkin lantern remained by Su Ruanruan’s side, preserved perfectly intact by her.
“Ah—!”
Su Ruanruan felt something like an octopus wrapping around her and woke up to find it was Gu Jinzhou.
“When did you get back?”
Gu Jinzhou’s voice was hoarse. “Just now.”
One of his legs rested on the bed as his slender, jade-like fingers leisurely unbuttoned his suit jacket. His deep, greedy eyes gleamed with a faint green light.
Su Ruanruan’s face flushed crimson. Why couldn’t these people leave her kidneys alone!
“Gu Jinzhou, you already did something bad during the day. You can’t come again tonight. My back feels uncomfortable, like I have a strained muscle! It’s not suitable for any intense exercise!”
After unbuttoning his suit jacket and shirt, Gu Jinzhou stopped undressing. His toned, sexy abs and chest muscles were fully visible, faintly outlined in the hazy moonlight.
Su Ruanruan couldn’t tear her eyes away.
She had always known Gu Jinzhou had a great physique. She realized it when he taught her how to swim. Afraid that a coach might take advantage of her, Gu Jinzhou decided to teach her himself. What should have taken a month to learn ended up dragging on for half a year…
Damn it, with all the tricks he pulled in the water, why didn’t he join a competition? It was such a waste of talent only using them on her!
Su Ruanruan’s gaze lingered on Gu Jinzhou’s abs for a moment before she wrapped herself tightly in her little blanket. Truthfully, she wasn’t obsessed with that kind of thing, but Gu Jinzhou loved doing it.Gu Jinzhou held her face and kissed her, suppressing the raging desire in his eyes as he coaxed softly, “Since my baby doesn’t want to do it, why did you wear the clothes I like and record the kind of video I enjoy watching?”
Su Ruanruan shot him a glare. “It’s all because you’ve been fooling around outside! I just wanted to send you a photo, but I accidentally sent the video instead. Delete it right now, and don’t you dare save it!”
Gu Jinzhou pulled her out from under the covers, holding her in his arms with eyes full of affection.
“So Ruan Ruan is jealous. Why don’t you check for yourself whether I’ve been sneaking around outside? Touch and kiss me all over, from head to toe, okay?”
“No way! You wish!”
She tried to get up and escape, but her waist was firmly gripped by the man.
Her straight, fair legs kicked helplessly at the bedsheet. Just as Gu Jinzhou knew all her weaknesses, she also knew exactly how to handle him!
“Gu Jinzhou, my stomach hurts, it really hurts. I want some hot water. Go pour me a cup.”
“Stomach hurts?”
Gu Jinzhou’s eyes darkened as he lifted the hem of the black lace dress and gently rubbed her soft, fair belly.
“It’s fine, your husband will make it better for you.”
“???”
A sleepless night followed.
The black lace nightgown lay torn into several pieces on the floor.
…
Su Ruanruan dreamed of her first day learning to dance.
On that first day, Gu Jinzhou had taken her to dance class, convinced that little Ruan Ruan wouldn’t be able to endure the hardship and would likely want to go home within minutes.
But everyone had underestimated little Ruan Ruan’s determination to practice dance.
Though she was the chubbiest-cheeked and roundest-bellied child in the class, she was also the most dedicated.
She never slacked off during aerobic exercises like jumping jacks and jogging, following the teacher’s instructions diligently.
She didn’t feel the strain during practice, but on the way home, little Ruan Ruan leaned against Gu Jinzhou’s shoulder, sniffling softly.
Gu Jinzhou, four years her senior, felt both heartache and frustration.
Before the age of three, little Ruan Ruan’s feet had hardly touched the ground—she had grown up in Gu Jinzhou’s arms. Even when she learned to walk at four or five, he was always by her side, protecting her. Every time she went to dance class, Gu Jinzhou would carry her to the entrance, only letting go when he could go no further.
By the second month, the dance teacher finally couldn’t take it anymore and reminded Gu Jinzhou not to spoil Ruan Ruan so much. Could he really pamper her for a lifetime?
Gu Jinzhou: “Why not?”
The dance teacher: “…”
In the end, it was little Ruan Ruan who told Jin Zhou not to carry her anymore—she had her own legs and could walk by herself.
Gu Jinzhou: “Ruan Ruan’s shoes are so pretty and clean. I don’t want them to get dirty.”
Little Ruan Ruan said in her sweet, childish voice, “Jin Zhou can wash my dirty shoes for me.”
Gu Jinzhou chuckled in exasperation. “You really know how to boss people around.”
By eight or nine, an age when most kids are mischievous and restless, Gu Jinzhou had already mastered many skills, including how to take good care of little Ruan Ruan.
To ease her soreness and fatigue after dance practice, Gu Jinzhou used his connections to find a descendant of a royal physician and obtained a medicinal bath recipe. Soaking in the herbal bath after each dance session greatly relieved her physical exhaustion.
…
When Gu Jinzhou woke up, he found Su Ruanruan’s face streaked with tears. His heart sank, and he quickly reached down to check, fearing he had hurt her the night before.
But there was no blood, no sign of injury.
As soon as Su Ruanruan opened her eyes, she found Gu Jinzhou being a pervert.”So you really are a pervert.”
“Only with you.”
Gu Jinzhou wrapped her in the blanket and carried her back to the master bedroom to wash up.
“Did my baby have a nightmare? Why were you crying so pitifully?”
“It wasn’t a nightmare, it was a good dream.”
When she was little and learning dance was so difficult, Gu Jinzhou racked his brains to help her through the hardships. There was no reason he wouldn’t let her dance now. In this world, no one cherished her more than Gu Jinzhou, yet she had lost her mind, determined to escape from him, only to meet a tragic end in the Su family.
Damn novel plot, if you can separate me from Gu Jinzhou in this lifetime, I’ll consider it my loss!
“Gu Jinzhou, we have to be the absolute best together!”
“Your mouth is so sweet today—was last night too enjoyable?”
