Nan Wanwan finally understood what it meant to dig one’s own grave.

She had only said it casually, yet the man had actually agreed.

“What? You’re already going back on your word so soon after saying it?” Quan Yuchen’s sarcasm was especially irritating, especially after their previous clashes.Full novel: Three Adorable Treasures Play Cupid: Daddy Won’t Stop Pursuing Mommy — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“What are you saying? Am I Nan Wanwan the kind of person who breaks promises? Since the boss has spoken, then anyone who doesn’t earn easy money is a fool.”

Quan Yuchen, relying on his height advantage, looked down at her coldly and let out a dismissive snort through his nose.

“President Quan, the bath is full. Why don’t you soak a bit longer?”

Nan Wanwan leaned over to turn off the faucet. The short shirt revealed a section of her fair waist and abdomen. The man’s prominent Adam’s apple rolled a few times. He reached out, pulled a robe from the rack, casually put it on, and walked out.

“President Quan? You’re leaving? Your condition isn’t suitable for going out right now. But I can take you to the hospital for more professional treatment.”

The figure that had just disappeared suddenly returned, lazily leaning against the bathroom glass door, his expression dark and displeased like a spoiled master.

“Who said I was leaving? Hurry up and serve me.”

“Yes, President Quan.”

After giving his order, Quan Yuchen walked to the sofa and leaned down. Nan Wanwan followed him out. Seeing his devastatingly handsome appearance, she felt strangely calm.

“Turn on the air conditioner.”

“Yes, President Quan.”

She found the remote and turned on the cold air. Then she looked back at the man, whose breathing had become noticeably more rapid.

From a few meters away, she asked worriedly, “President Quan, you don’t look well. Are you sure you don’t need to go to the hospital?”

He slowly lifted his head. His face had turned slightly pale. After coughing a few times, his thin lips pressed together, giving off an icy, stern aura.

“Are you teaching me how to do things? I said I’m not going.”

“Are you… afraid of going to the hospital?” Nan Wanwan guessed subconsciously.

As expected, she had hit the mark. Quan Yuchen really was avoiding the hospital. His sharp gaze had been dulled slightly by his weakened condition.

“Cough… cough… Nan Wanwan, are you trying to test my limits? Hmm?”

“No, absolutely not.”

Quan Yuchen seemed unwilling to look at her, his face full of disgust toward her, which she also found quite confusing.

Some people just looked for trouble, while others simply sought discomfort.

“President Quan, let me help you.”

“Staying away from me is already helping me.”

Quan Yuchen collapsed into the bed. Heavy coughing continued without pause.

Nan Wanwan could tell he had an old illness. After being exposed to cold water, the symptoms had all flared up at once.

“Quan Yuchen? Quan Yuchen? Are you okay? Open your eyes! Don’t fall asleep.”

The man’s eyelids felt heavy. His familiar tone remained as cold as ever.

“Nan Wanwan, do you want to die? How dare you hit my face?”

Nan Wanwan withdrew her fingers awkwardly. “Heaven and earth are my witness, I didn’t hit you. How would I dare?”

He still looked disgusted beyond measure, yet at the same time, he seemed strangely accepting of her presence.

Nan Wanwan was quite skilled at taking care of children, so she had some experience. She reached out and touched his forehead—it was hot.

Tch, he looked so strong, yet his body was surprisingly delicate.

“President Quan, you have a fever. I’ll call the front desk to send some medicine.”

She reached for the landline, but Quan Yuchen’s expression darkened immediately as he narrowed his eyes.

“No need.”

“Not taking medicine when you have a fever—are you trying to cultivate immortality?”

“I didn’t hire you at a high price just to have you anger me,” the man said weakly.

Nan Wanwan had never seen someone like him—he was even more difficult than a child.

Because he had once been poisoned and framed years ago, Quan Yuchen had been secretly treated in a private hospital ever since. To him, hospitals were a place he deeply disliked.

It felt as if tens of thousands of ants were biting inside his body. It seemed he had underestimated the lingering effects of that poison.

Quan Yuchen clenched his teeth. Cold sweat dripped from his forehead. His eyelids grew too heavy to lift. Half-asleep, half-conscious, he felt someone wiping his sweat away. The restrained, proper movement made him frown in dissatisfaction.

A woman’s unique fragrance drifted into his breath. A soft hand gently held his palm. Strangely, he no longer felt as uncomfortable as before.

He did not know what she was doing—she even pinched his fingers and gave him a small prick.

Forget it. He would not bother arguing with her.
