When Xia Zhi lifted her head, her face still flushed red, her gaze met Wen Shihan’s. His eyes were deep, carrying a thoughtful look.

He must have seen what was inside the cabinet too…

Of course, the door was so big and the cabinet so full, it would be hard not to notice.Full novel: Transmigrated 20 Years Later as a Landlady of 300 Buildings — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

It felt like something exploded in Xia Zhi’s mind. Since graduating from university, she had been busy just trying to survive, and had remained single her whole life. How could she not feel embarrassed seeing such revealing clothing?

She had thought things were already awkward before, only now did she realize there was always a new level of awkwardness.

Eager to escape the situation, Xia Zhi quickly found another place to stash the wedding photo. Then she opened the wardrobe to find something to sleep in, only to discover that everything inside was made up of sexy slip dresses and ultra short nightgowns. Perhaps because of the earlier shock, she was no longer as startled. After a moment of silence, she reluctantly picked a somewhat acceptable nightdress, grabbed a white bathrobe, and hurried into the bathroom.

Only after closing the bathroom door did she feel like she could breathe again. Once she calmed herself, she looked around the luxurious bathroom. It was about thirty square meters, decorated in light gold tones with marble tiles. In the center was a large bathtub, and to the left was a sink with a semi arched mirror mounted above it.

Although she had already gotten a good look at her forty five year old face in the hospital, that did not stop her from admiring it again.

Touching her smooth skin, Xia Zhi once again marveled at the power of money, it could truly preserve one’s youth.

She removed her clothes, her figure curving gracefully. Twenty years ago, due to work and life pressures, she had been extremely thin, as if a gust of wind could knock her over. Now she had filled out a little, her complexion rosy and healthy.

Suddenly thinking of something, her gaze quickly dropped to her abdomen. She had heard that after childbirth, a woman’s belly could become loose and develop stretch marks, but fortunately she had none of those. There was only a faint horizontal scar, likely left from a cesarean section.

Her thumb gently traced the pale scar. For the first time, she saw on her body the mark of having given birth.

It was not ugly at all.

It felt like a unique badge of honor as a mother.

After showering, Xia Zhi put on her nightdress, wrapped herself in the bathrobe, and made sure everything was in order before opening the door.

Wen Shihan had also bathed somewhere else. His hair was slightly damp, and he wore a casual black robe. Water still clung to the side of his neck, trailing down along its curve and disappearing into the robe. He seemed to be using the same body wash as her, carrying the same light fragrance. She was used to seeing him in a suit, sharp and professional. Seeing him in such relaxed attire caught her off guard, and for a moment she stood there, staring at him, even forgetting her usual fear of him.

“Is there something on my face?”

His question snapped her back to reality. She quickly looked away and stammered, “No.”

His gaze lingered, as if asking, then why were you staring at me for so long?

Surprised.

She was purely surprised.

“Dad, Mom, open the door.”

Wen Yu’s voice came with a knock from outside.

Wen Shihan was closer to the door. He walked over in a few steps and opened it. Wen Yu stood there holding a glass of warm milk. When he saw that it was Wen Shihan, a gentle smile spread across his otherwise cool face. He placed the milk into Wen Shihan’s hand and said, “Dad, Mom drinks a glass of warm milk before bed every day. Don’t forget to remind her.”

Xia Zhi, “??” So her future self was this particular?

Wen Yu then reminded Xia Zhi, who was standing by the bathroom door, “Mom, remember to drink the milk.”

“Ah, okay.” Xia Zhi’s mind had not caught up yet, but her mouth had already responded.

Wen Yu’s gaze suddenly fell on the space above the large bed. There used to be a wedding photo hanging there, but now it was gone, leaving only an empty patch.

“Mom, that wedding photo…”

At the mention of it, Xia Zhi stammered a little, “It… it… one of the nails came loose, we were afraid it might be dangerous, so we took it down.”

“Then I’ll have someone fix it tomorrow.”

“No, no need.”

Perhaps because Xia Zhi cut in too quickly, Wen Yu immediately understood. It was probably because her parents found the wedding photo unpleasant to look at, so they had taken it down.

Wen Yu did not dwell on it and changed the subject, “Then I won’t disturb you anymore. Good night, Mom and Dad.”

“Good night,” Xia Zhi replied.

Wen Yu’s figure quickly disappeared at the doorway.

Wen Shihan closed the bedroom door, the click of the lock making Xia Zhi’s heart skip several beats. He directly placed a cup of warm milk into her hands and said, “Drink it.”

Xia Zhi held the warm milk, feeling both flattered and uneasy.

If it were in the past, she would never have believed that one day she would receive a cup of warm milk from her boss.

Yet now, the reality was right in front of her.

After finishing the milk, Xia Zhi’s gaze slowly shifted to the only bed in the bedroom. Although it was large enough to fit four or five people, it was still just one bed.

Someone as afraid of Wen Shihan as Xia Zhi would never agree to lie on the same bed with him. That would be even worse than killing her. Besides, someone as outstanding as Wen Shihan probably felt just as resistant to sharing a bed with her.

Her eyes then moved to the large, soft sofa in the room. It was more than enough for her to lie on alone.

Xia Zhi steadied her gaze, made her decision, and said to Wen Shihan, “Boss, I’ll sleep on the sofa tonight, you take the bed.”

Seeing that Wen Shihan did not respond, she assumed he had no objections. Xia Zhi began moving pillows and blankets to the sofa like an ant carrying food. However, halfway through, her blanket was caught by Wen Shihan.

“Hm?” Xia Zhi looked at him in confusion.

Wen Shihan pressed his lips together slightly and said, “You sleep on the bed, I’ll take the sofa.”

The boss is quite gentlemanly.

But no matter how gentlemanly he is, as the employee, she still had to be sensible.

“No, no, I’ll just sleep on the sofa.”

As she spoke, Xia Zhi tried to snatch the blanket back from Wen Shihan. But when she pulled once, it did not budge. She had to use all her strength, tugging again and again in an attempt to pull it back. However, before she could get the blanket, during the repeated pulling, the tie of her bathrobe suddenly snapped. The robe instantly slipped off her shoulders, revealing the short black nightdress she wore underneath.

Wen Shihan: …

Boss, let me explain.
