The Nyechistyy limped his way across the battlefield at as fast a speed as he could manage while zigzagging his way through the chaos.

’The dungeon is only a kilometer away...’

The Nyechistyy looked behind himself and found his chasers closing in on him faster than before.Full novel: Transmigrated As A Half-Demon, I Have A Glitchy Gamer System — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

’Why are they so hell bent on killing me anyway?’

’There are plenty of fish in the sea to spear! Why me!? Is it because my horns are pretty? Or because they think I love being hit and abused!?’

The Nyechistyy’s mind whirled with all the possibilities around him as he ran for his life.

’Why do I have to get in contact with mana? To cast spells?’

’I do remember the exact procedure to cast spells from some of the mages in the prisons...’

’But no one can cast any magic inside the city unless they’re given the permission to do so.’

’I can’t even feel my mana inside me right now... I don’t even know how the damn thing is supposed to feel, apart from what I’ve heard about it before.’

The Nyechistyy frowned.

He glanced back, his pursuers were closer... only about fifty meters away. Close enough that their spells were now about to reach him amidst the chaos of the battlefield.

’I don’t know how those low level mobs on my ass and every other invading human is able to spam spells every few seconds in spite of the restriction.’

’But whatever it is...’

’It must be some type of item on them...’

’Otherwise if it was a wide area spell cast on the battlefield before the fight started the imprisoned humans would’ve broken free from their prisons themselves since there are plenty of mages among them.’

’Even if I obtain the item what then? I have no Initiation so the amount of property variables available to me will be drastically less depending purely on my soul property!’

’And if I don’t have a good soul property... I’m done.’

’...’

The Nyechistyy looked back once again.

The chasers were only a dozen feet away, he could see their nasty expressions already.

Sigh.

’Alright you weak mobs!! The great Nyechistyy shall entertain you! He shall drown in your blood and flesh by the end of it all!’

The Nyechistyy stopped forcibly and rolled to a stop as he grabbed a half broken scimitar that had been abandoned by some human fighter.

"Come you cheap mobs!!" the Nyechistyy shouted out loud but seeing him stop, the three people who were pursuing him stopped too.

And instead of giving in to his taunt, they all raised their hands!

"Shit! Why are you bringing a gun to a sword fight!? Fight like men, you cowards!" the Nyechistyy shouted as he began running.

Not away from the fight but towards the mages, taking the fight straight to their faces, into their play field.

But no matter how fast he hopped on his one working leg, the mages were still faster than him, much much faster.

Within a second of his first hop, two fireballs of different colours and a nearly invisible wind ball shot towards him in a flash.

’There’s a limit to recklessness!’ the Nyechistyy thought as he saw the fireballs before hopping again, not away from the fireballs, but straight through them!

The fireballs merged as the wind ball fanned the flames causing the entire thing to explode in his face.

"AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH." the Nyechistyy didn’t hide his pain this time. He roared wildly and made a mad dash towards the firing squad.

Seeing the Nyechistyy run straight through the fireballs surprised the three mages and they quickly took a few steps back but unluckily, due to the chaotic battlefield one of them didn’t notice a dead body behind him and stumbled over it.

The two others had already retreated to keep a safe distance between them and the Nyechistyy, after all a mage was useless in close combat, everyone knew that.

As for their dear fallen comrade, well everyone knew each man was to himself in war. You either dragged everyone up with you or you were abandoned.

The Nyechistyy didn’t miss the chance for a second.

PUCHI!

He rolled across the blood soaked battlefield and stabbed his broken scimitar right into the fallen man’s neck!

"What now you fools!?" the Nyechistyy said through his badly burnt lips as his hair smoldered and fell in patches.

The faces on the two remaining mages turned sour but they immediately raised their hands again!

One green fireball and one nearly invisible wind ball shot towards him at a near point blank range, but he wasn’t foolish enough to stay this time.

With a sharp flick of his wrist the Nyechistyy’s pull snapped the chain on the neck of the man he’d just killed, dragging along a precious looking pendant while he went rolling away!

The new fist sized fireball exploded on the ground fanning out flames in all directions but the Nyechistyy was already holding onto the chain he’d just grabbed for his life.

He didn’t have to even look down at it to know that it was special.

Almost as soon as he’d grabbed it he felt a stream of energy fill his being. No that would be wrong, it didn’t fill his being, he simply became aware of something that had already filled it.

’This is mana?’

New instincts flashed in the Nyechistyy’s mind as he suddenly learnt about his soul property and how he could use it! He felt deeply connected to it and could feel it all around him.

However his focus was not on that! It wasn’t even on the battlefield where the two remaining mages had shifted their aims to point at him once again.

A blue illusory panel had suddenly flashed in front of his eyes!

’I HAVE FOURTEEN MILLISECONDS!!!!’

New fireballs shot towards the Nyechistyy forcing him to pay attention as he dodged by rolling out of range once again.

However with his mana now unlocked, that wasn’t all he could do.

The Nyechistyy had already noticed that his enemies couldn’t fire their spells continuously.

They had to regather the mana they’d spent before they fired again, so the Nyechistyy raised his hand and instinctively compiled code that came to him.

"You mobs are annoying as hell!!! Well I guess we already are in one... but anyways..."

’Light.position = focus location;’

A ball of light formed at the center of his palm as light from the surroundings gathered into it.

The two mages’ eyes widened in surprise.

"By the Sevens!! A half-demon with the Light Property!?" one of them shouted just loud enough for the Nyechistyy to catch.

They quickly retreated in different directions, but the Nyechistyy was faster! Much much faster!

As the Nyechistyy changed the focus position, the ball of light moved! It shot right to their center-

’Light.intensity = mana amount;’

-before it exploded with the mana the Nyechistyy put into it.

There wasn’t a sound or any heat.

No! This was an explosion of light.

The Nyechistyy closed his eyes immediately as the explosion set off and rolled in their direction before pushing himself off the ground and entering their range.

’Light.intensity = zero;’

The light vanished allowing the Nyechistyy to open his eyes and slice both of their necks with his broken scimitar while they were blinded before swiftly retracting it and killing them.

"..."

The Nyechistyy looked down at the mages and watched as they choked on their own blood and felt nothing.

Then he turned around and continued to run towards the Dungeon, his only sanctuary.
