“So even if you accidentally end up somewhere without food or clothing, at least you won’t starve to death immediately.”

“Oh right, let’s go shopping tomorrow. You should buy more clothes to take with you, especially underwear and stuff.”

“If it’s an apocalypse world and you have to deal with extreme cold or heat, at least you’ll have suitable clothing. You should prepare different sizes too — who knows what kind of body you might end up with after transmigrating.”Full novel: Transmigrated in the 1970s: Snatching the Male Lead’s Opportunities Is So Satisfying — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Come to think of it, should you prepare some men’s clothes too? What if you transmigrate and turn into a guy?”

Hah, she hadn’t even thought of that before.

Shi Meiqing immediately rolled her eyes. “Can’t you think of something better happening to me? Honestly, I feel like you’ve already prepared more than enough. We don’t need to keep buying stuff.”

She certainly had money, but honestly speaking, there was no guarantee any of these things could even be brought into another life.

Forget another life — there was no guarantee she’d even have another life. Wasn’t all this a little too wasteful?

“What do you know? Who randomly gets such an incredible opportunity? According to novel logic, if you get a cheat like this, then something big is definitely going to happen.”

“Fine, fine. I’ll listen to you, alright?” Though there were also plenty of stories where people got lucky opportunities and still died unexpectedly.

“That’s more like it. Just listen to me. I stayed up the entire night preparing supplies for you, and every spare moment I’ve had, I’ve been online shopping.”

“Besides, it’s not like you’re short on money.” Meiqing really didn’t look like a rich person. Everything wealthy people liked to flaunt held zero interest for her.

Shi Meiqing… wasn’t lacking money, sure, but that didn’t mean she should throw it away carelessly!

“The way you’re wearing that bracelet doesn’t feel safe at all. Try seeing whether the bead can be stored inside the space. Or maybe try mentally telling it to turn invisible or something?”

Everything had been so rushed that she’d almost forgotten about it. The bead was just hanging there openly — what if it got lost?

“Should I try?” Shi Meiqing still felt like all of this was some kind of childish make-believe game and hadn’t taken it too seriously.

“Hurry and test it,” Zhao Qingye stared at her intently.

Shi Meiqing touched the bracelet on her wrist and silently thought, turn invisible. The bead remained exactly where it was. She removed the bracelet and mentally ordered it to store itself away, but nothing happened.

All she could do was shrug helplessly. “Guess it doesn’t work.”

Once she was gone, she planned to leave the bracelet to Curly Hair. That way, if Zhao Qingye ever encountered danger in the future, she’d at least have somewhere safe to hide.

Zhao Qingye frowned. “Fine, let’s leave it like this for now.” Worst case scenario, she’d just keep the bracelet with Meiqing at all times. Maybe that would still help somehow.

“Oh right, have you thought about selling all your properties and using the money to stockpile supplies? If you’re going to die anyway, what’s the point of keeping those houses?”

Shi Meiqing shook her head. “No, keep the properties. That way you’ll at least have something to remember me by. Besides, don’t people say that if you want a good reincarnation in your next life, you need merit and good deeds?”

“Help me donate some money later and do some good deeds for me. Maybe next life I’ll end up even richer than I am now.”

She actually intended to leave all her real estate to Curly Hair. Zhao Qingye looked like she never lacked money, but with parents like hers, who knew when disaster might strike? Shi Meiqing needed to leave her a safety net.

Zhao Qingye opened her mouth to speak, but Shi Meiqing interrupted her first. “Don’t start arguing with me about this. Do the two of us really need to keep score over things like this?”

“If I actually needed money, I’d definitely sell the houses.”

“But do I look short on money? Even if I really do end up living somewhere else, you still have to keep living well here after I’m gone. Live for both of us.”

“But let me warn you now — don’t ever suddenly lose your mind over romance and let someone scam you out of everything you own. What I hate most in this world is people with lovesick brains.”

Zhao Qingye swallowed back the words she had wanted to say. “Don’t worry. I could never become someone like that. I don’t even plan on finding a partner. Living alone is perfectly fine.”

Both of them had terrible fathers and mothers, so neither of them held any fantasies about marriage.

“Oh right, I also bought several computers. I downloaded tons of information onto them, plus a bunch of USB drives. Hopefully wherever you end up has electricity.”

“No, wait, I need to order more power banks.” As she spoke, she was already scrolling through her phone.

Shi Meiqing rolled her eyes toward the ceiling. This girl acted as though she had completely accepted that transmigration was definitely going to happen. To Shi Meiqing, the whole thing still sounded absurd.

The only reason she obediently went along collecting supplies was to reassure Curly Hair. She didn’t believe in parallel worlds at all.

Honestly, she’d find it more believable if someone said the dead simply went straight to the underworld. Living in another world? That sounded like pure fantasy.

“Fine, fine, I’ll listen to you.” At this point, her entire strategy was simply compromise. As long as Curly Hair could live happily after she was gone, that was enough.

“That’s right. Just listen to me and nothing will go wrong. Oh, stop at that restaurant up ahead. I’m going inside to pick up the food. Open the trunk for me.”

Since they had luggage with them for the airport trip, Shi Meiqing had driven the family SUV instead of her little Mini. The SUV was far roomier and could hold much more.

The restaurants Zhao Qingye chose were all high-end places. Even the takeout packaging looked luxurious. Of course, the expensive food tasted excellent too, though a hundred meal boxes took up a lot of space.

Zhao Qingye opened the driver’s side door. “Get out. I’ll drive. You sit in the back.”

Shi Meiqing immediately understood what she meant and moved to the rear seat. Once the car started moving, she quietly stretched her hand into the trunk from the back seat and stored all the meal boxes into her space.

Fortunately, the SUV had privacy window film installed, and neither of them used a dashcam. Shi Meiqing herself didn’t really care — after all, how much longer was she even going to live?

Even if someone discovered something strange about her, who could interrogate a dead person afterward?

But Curly Hair still had her whole life ahead of her. She’d still be living here for decades. They absolutely couldn’t leave behind even the slightest clue that might put her in danger.

So all along the drive, they kept stopping and collecting food. Before they even reached home, the space already contained over a thousand boxed meals, plus three hundred milk teas and assorted drinks picked up from three different tea shops.

By the time the two of them finished dinner and returned home, it was already dusk.

After kicking off their shoes, they both collapsed onto the sofa. “This is exhausting.”

Shi Meiqing nodded. She was too tired to even speak. Just thinking about how they would soon begin wandering around the country together made her emotionally exhausted too.

“We’re really going on a nationwide road trip?” Do we really have to?

“Yep. Before, I wanted to travel everywhere praying to gods and Buddhas for your recovery. But now? I’m going to ask every deity I can find to pull some strings for you and send you somewhere nice.”

Shi Meiqing: “…”

Had Curly Hair completely lost it at this point?

Still, this was simply Zhao Qingye’s way of coping with the fact that she couldn’t accept Meiqing’s impending death.

So Shi Meiqing decided she should spend more time with her.
